Timpu Andreas I watched half the video last night and noticed that this morning on the vid as well. Common TH-cam attack called "Botting" aka bots disliking a video. I suspect some people are grumpy he passed 100K lol #Jealous
Jesse Akuhn Nothing suspicious about that my cousin has a cooking channel with 180K subs and it took TH-cam about 7 months after her hit 100K to send the Silver play button haha. That ain't uncommon. I should clarify that it also took longer in his case because he didn't redeem the code to send it for some time average time is 1-2 months.

Quartz movements are extremely important in regard to modern day horology; especially when being used in real world application. My ACTUAL pilot colleagues all wear quartz pieces, because people's lives depend on the accuracy and durability that these utility pieces offer. All the "couch pilots" in the comment section are obviously clueless to the original purpose of these time pieces.
Don't get me wrong, I love pilot watches. I want my next watch to be the Seiko Flightmaster (Once I get in the airlines I am aiming for a Breihtling Navitimer) BUT as someone who actually flies, I can't help but think of FAR 91.205 and the requirement of a clock installed and how using a slide rule on a watch is close to impossible.
Andrew Mason Apple watch is designed from the ground up to be the most accurate watch you’ll ever have. Anytime it’s connected to the internet, it’s continuously synchronized with the atomic clocks. Mine is always accurate to the dot whenever I check it against time.gov We’re not even talking about the tons of features that come with it, like world clock, barometer, etc.
Many many years ago when I was in Boot Camp at Fort Benning, I had the change to go to the PX for the first time. I purchased a very similar watch, a Timex Navi Ocean. I wore that watch through many adventures and misadventures through military, law enforcement, and fugitive recovery work... The watch went through about eight straps and it kept on working for over two decades until it was unfortunately lost during a move. I miss that watch.
I love the quartz watches in the mid $100s price range. You get a beautiful case, durability, style, and design. Glad to see you reviewing good quartz watches. For many people, this is all the watch they’ll ever really need.
Freakin awesome watch for $135. So happy to see this watch is QUARTZ. A watch like this needs QUARTZ dependability. Automatics are special but they are not work horse QUARTZ. Quartz changed the world of watches and rightfully so.
Georges Kern, who just took over at Breitling, needs to contract you to make advert media for the brand as he tries to breath new life into it. And, when discussing said contract, you can remind him that most human wrists don't support a 46, 48, or 50+mm wide chrome dinner plate...err wristwatch. I wonder how many Timex watches you sold with that intro! What a great intro for such an affordable piece. I hope you never catch a case of watch snobbery and can continue to enjoy and showcase affordable pieces, especially considering so many of your subs are young or new to watches.
Honestly I feel like Timex has carved a really nice area for themselves in the watch world. I look to them for more casual watches I can pair with clothes but still getting those quality time pieces I can take pride in due to their history.
I found this channel two days ago and I have not stopped watching since. The only suggestion I have if I made add is , can you make a note in the description as were can we purchase the watch. If that's possible
What I loved most about your Timex review, Tritano, is that a very modest, well designed watch can be enjoyed and appreciated for what it is, not for what it is not. Unsaid in your message is that a person of modest means can fully enjoy and take great pride wearing a wonderful timepiece. Grazie, TGV!
Love that your catalog of videos represents every price point and application so well. Nobody should be made to feel they need an expensive watch in order to appreciate their timepiece! Timex is a fantastic brand. My first watch was a Timex gifted by parents when I was about 10 or 12, and I wore it for years. I'm now looking at an Oris Aquis 39.5, but seeing this video brings on the nostalgia! Cheers,
What a splendid review - succinct, considered, articulate with superb close up photography. And as always delivered with bonhomie. Thanks also for reviewing a quartz movement without any negative judgement (they have their place). While mechanical movements are what we respect there's no doubting that a venerable company like Timex has 'nailed' some irresistibly priced and aesthetically 'spot on' timepieces. Thanks again for a terrific review - best wishes.
I grew up with a Timex of one sort or another on my wrist. I still vividly remember the Timex commercials on American Sportsman with Curt Gowdy. Where they strapped a Timex watch to an outboard motor propeller, dropped the boat in the water and ran it up to speed, and then showed the watch still working afterwards. About 12 feet behind where I sit this moment, slightly to my right, sits an original Waterbury Clock that was new sometime in the 1870's (I think, I looked it up once and have it documented but can't be bothered for purposes of a TH-cam comment) which originally belonged to my Great Grandmother. The only service it's ever had that I'm aware of is a good cleaning and that was decades ago. It's still ticking away marking the seconds and hours of the lifetimes in my family and it keeps time to about a minute a week. Not bad for a 150 year old clock. So I'm well familiar with the Timex brand. That said, I love the look of the watch TGV is reviewing here but the value falls short for my standards. The quartz movement I could maybe live with but the acrylic crystal on a watch that price is a deal killer. When I can get an Orient automatic diver for very nearly the same price Timex is over pricing that watch. It's a step up from the Explorer line but it's not THAT much of a step up that it takes it into the Orient price range.
I am really a fan of that bezel, the ability to use it as both a timer, and a dual timezone is pretty awesome. The navi harbor seems more interesting than the navi ocean, just for that hour hand. I would love to see more watches like this from timex. If I could get this with day and date, it would be a perfect daily tool watch. I still think their IQ flyback chrono is amazing. The 3-gmt needs some color options and to be a bit smaller ( 47mm seems big ), and the world time seems interesting.
Just bought a Timex Mk1 Military Inspired Watch! The design is done impeccably well! I've always love Military watches especially the 70s Military watches. My first Timex and first American watch! Thank you TGV.
Timex never sleeps. Many releases are stainless with Japanese quartz, lume, indiglo, day, date water resistant, battery listed on the back, available everywhere and changeable with a pocket knife. I'm impressed that it's not all about the money with you. Appreciation given where it's deserved!
Do you plan on doing a review on the Seiko Turtle anytime soon? I'm trying to decide between it and the SKX, which I know you like. Your opinion would mean a lot. Thank you
Killing it with these intros, TGV!! Thanks for alerting us to the Archive range. Timexes are great value for money and they've been very reliable quartzes for me so far. Shame it's not automatic, but it sure is good-looking.
Thank you for the very interesting review of a relatively unknown model. Oh, and I didn't have you down as a Marilyn Manson listener before that intro!
couldn't agree more! As an American living in southern Germany .... i don't see to many Timex watches here.... but i just bought the Expedition Scout.... did a review on it too .... anyway i really like these watches!
I watched the second hand shake as the stepper motor moved it. This contributes to inaccuracy and time loss. You could see over the course of the video how the second hand lined up with markers and then didn't line up with markers. I have my Dad's 1967 Timex Automatic, and as Timex was one of "the" iconic brands back then, it's a shame to see the quality control issues they still have in spite of a resurgent watch market. With a Miyota movement would be worth about what an entry level automatic Citizen is worth now...not more until/unless they improve their quality control. Would be great to see them come back as Hamilton has and still be a US company. Here's wishing..... Cheers!
A friend gave me a timex expedition as a holiday gift. It lasted a week until the seconds hand fell off. Didn't even bother returning as my friend had the receipt and that would be awkward bad news to tell him that the watch he gave broke within that week.
I have a black-faced stainless Seiko quartz (SUR145) and I promise you it's spellbinding to stare at because the second hand falls absolutely dead center on each and every marker. Below the highest end in quartz watches, it's just a matter of where the employee or machine sets the hand on the post. Once in a while it just comes out perfect. With a few minor tools you could re-set the second hand yourself, too.
This is a great watch and wonderful review. I always enjoy it when you have a look at watches in a very accessible price range. There is so much variety and quality to be found there. The skeletal hour hand is a real touch on this one.
Wonderful! Someone at Timex is really paying attention. They really seem to be capturing some wonderful designs these days, across the price spectrum. Here, here to Timex!
this intro is such a treat. i recently got a similar timex you got with the champagne dial put a dark brown, chocolatey leather strap on it and all is well man I never thought I would love timex this much, because of you back in the Philippines when I lived there Timex is looked down upon as cheap but no one even considered that it's a historical factor in WW2!! knowledge does change you, today I learned...
Thank you Harvard, Who cares what people think of Timex, its got heritage and style. As long as you enjoy it, that is all that matters! THAT is what it is all about, Enjoy it my friend and wear it with pride! Best regards, TGV
Thank you for doing great reviews on ALL types of watches. I respect the fact that you treat plastic G Shocks and Timex watches the same as you treat a Rolex. I love all types too and a $50 watch gets me just as excited as my Montblanc. Please keep up the great reviews and all of the videos you give us.
I just got mine and it’s FANTASTIC! A real winner for the price point and even better with 25% discount. It would be perfect at 40mm to enjoy better the dial. Money well spent.
Love the video TGV! As much as I enjoy the top flight pieces you frequently have, the reviews on those that punch well above their price are the most exciting. This is a great example. Keep up the good work. Cheers!
Great to see a Timex in your channel! I've been looking at some of their watches for some time. I really like the classic designs they have and this watch in particular looks awesome... sadly the movement doesn't inspire. An automatic would be great, but I also wouldn't mind a higher grade Quartz (and pay $20 or $30 more in that case). A nice timepiece nonetheless.
So I decided to look around to see if I could find out what movement you've got in it....Timex manufacturers their own quartz movements. Most of them (outside of Intelligent Quartz) are uniformly standard. Like their old mechanical movements, Timex quartz movements just get the job done. You've probably got the M902 inside of yours (The M902 is one of the few movements they make that doesn't have indiglo. If your watch takes the CR2016, I'm betting this is the movement you have. If it takes the 1216, the movement is probably the M954. Really no difference between any of them. I've found that my Timex watches with a CR2016 battery tend to last 4-5 years with moderate use of indiglo. So, i'm betting you'll get close to 7-8 years without the indiglo function. Hope this info helps. You could always take the case back off and try and find a marking inside.).
Thanks for the information on the M902 movement. I bought a Timex Andros (the same basic watch as the Navi Harbor) and a Seiko SNZH55 several years ago after reading a comparison of the two watches that extolled the virtues of the Seiko. I expected the Seiko to last indefinitely and the Timex to bite the dust within the year. Just the opposite happened. The Seiko fell out of adjustment and would have cost more than the price of the watch to service. The Andros still ticks along perfectly, and I wear it a couple of times every week. This experience, plus my experience with another Timex, has made me a believer in Timex's design and engineering philosophy. Timex watches don't use all-steel movements, nor do they always use stainless steel cases, nor do they give the appearance of the kind of painstaking craftsmanship we always hope to see in a watch. They are, however, engineered with much thought to extracting maximum performance and reliability from minimum resources. Plus, someone at Timex has great taste regarding how a watch should actually look to and interact with its user. To expand your characterization, Joseph Jordan, this series of Timex gets the job done. The few negatives I see with the Navi Harbor - lack of a finely finished surfaces, no all-steel jeweled quartz movement, made in the Philippines and China, for instance - are the kinds of negatives solved by buying a more expensive watch. I think this combination of factors makes the Timex Navi Harbor an outstanding watch. I enjoy my Andros very much, and I recently purchased a Navi Harbor to double my gusto!
When watching for a second I think I hear an Icecream truck in my neighborhood and get excited then I realize it's your background, not mine, derp every time... Love the channel, Inspirational...
Timex often has the parts sourcing on the box. If the movement is from the Philippines, then it's an in-house Timex movement. I think that is only on Indiglo models now, though. I changed the battery on an Expedition for a friend of mine a month or so ago. It hit every index marker on the dial with the seconds hand, which seriously impressed me, and it used the 2016 battery. I think that if it says Japan movement, then it's a Miyota or Seiko.
As a good ol' red, white and blue American, I think you kinda gotta love Timex. In fact, my favorite watch in my modest little collection is a cheap Timex Scout on an OD nylon strap. If I'm out fishing or shooting or doing crappy, dirty stuff, I'm not wearing my Invicta or Viceroy automatics. I'm wearing the Scout. Like the old Timex ad says, "takes a licking and keeps on ticking."
I agree I would love an automatic movement, but the watch is a real gem, and I LOVE YOUR INTRO!!! As an active duty navy man I always enjoy seeing my brothers and sisters out there getting some screen time.
That's a very interesting and appealing watch! I have 8 or 9 Timex's that I've bought over the last 20 years or so (all of which still work, BTW), that I almost never wear anymore, simply because they don't appeal to me anymore, and definitely not as much as my Seiko collection does. This may be the watch that'll make me give Timex another look. Well done, TGV! Keep them coming.
Managed to find a blue dial version on this watch for $110. It came on a blue fabric strap. Swapped it for a stainless steel bracelet and it looks great. Thanks to @TGV. I never would have known about his cool little watch without this video.
I remember now,I did had a Timex watch.Remember it had an od green nylon strap. Had it for just over a year when purchase during Fall season 1996 to early '98(remember sold the watch to a co. work colleague).
TGV is like the David Attenborough of horological instruments. He makes every review a delightful safari adventure and the watch in focus like a distinct kind of species. Very very interesting! Thank you TGV. Keep it up. Congratulations!
Great Video and congratulations on the success of your channel. It has been inspiring for mine. Nice to see a average guy's watch once in a while. As a (bit past) middle aged guy, I once saw when Timex owned the watch world, with Bulova a close second. I had the same Timex on my wrist for 7 years straight and it never so much as needed a battery until the end of the 7th year. Now it has a new battery and crystal for under 10 bucks and it should be good for another 7. Although since getting into the watch hobby, it hardly gets any wrist time. I am glad to see Timex thinking out of the box and the resurgence in interest in the iconic brand.
Great video as always! Video suggestion unless you already covered it: As somebody that is beginning to have expensive pieces, I would like to know more about safes and what to buy that is good quality. Thanks in advance !
Definitely not a screw down back, you can see the tab at 1:30. Good looks, wearable. I like my timexes. Have an Expedition and an older rolex look alike (gold face, bezel, day/date). Have owned it since new in the 80's. Sat idle for 10 years, new battery, running like charm! Just acquired an Eterna-matic 2000 Centenaire. Was given to my father-in-law for 25 year service on March 14, 1974. Was in storage for many years, took it out, light winding, running great. Runs fast when resting, runs right on when wearing. Probably should service but if it ain't broke...? Those luxury watches are pretty and nice to look at but I can't rationlize that much money for jewellery. Bought a Delbana for that and think that was a lot of money. Anyway, refreshing to see a review of some more plebian brands. Watches are first and foremost tools and craftmanship is always appreciated.
I really do love the design on this one. Those hands truly set it off as a remarkably handsome yet rugged looking piece. If this were an automatic I'd probably have to own one!
I like the bezel but I think the hands are pretty phenomenal. Also the watch is perfect for two things. One, you can use it as a beater watch or, two, as a gift for young beginner watch enthusiast as their first watch. It's not that expensive but pleasing to the eyes for most people. I dont mind the quartz movt even though not telling us what the movt is is pretty shady thing to do.
I think having a supply of stylish budget watches is always great for going on holiday with. They'll keep time, look great, and you won't have to be anxious about the high cost of them getting damaged, lost, stolen, etc.
I'm not much of a black dial person; but, I think that is a desirable offering. My first time-piece was a manual Timex[Mickey], which I received as a child. I use my Timex Iron-man every day. I must keep at least one Timex in my lifestyle.
As I said I have not, I tend to gravitate towards polished cases, I will certainly check out the Laco, they have been high on my list for a very long time. thank you Best regards, TGV
I only own Timex watches. I love them. Found this Navi for $45 brand new from a collector and I threw on a brown leather strap to resemble my dads old Swiss army watch I loved when he would wear.
I just got this watch on restock and I was gonna send it back cause I had a feeling I wasnt going to like it and felt it may have been and impulse. Boy was I wrong. I LOVE this watch. It is a real charmer. And I love the size, but I have a very big wrist. Really nice
Anybody can explain to me why there are so many dislikes on this video? I think it's a good one, as always, keep sharing your passion Tristiano, you have the best horology channel in TH-cam ;)
I picked up the black navi harbor with the leather strap (for $119 shipped with the email list discount) from Timex's store a couple of minutes ago. Great review! I've been into pocket knives for a while but never got into watches until recently. I really like the hands on this one and as I get older I find myself gravitating towards more mechanical things. Seems like nothing is made of metal anymore.
I love how the timex watches look, but I've been seeing complaints about how loud they are. That's a dealbreaker for me. Is there any timex model that doesn't tick so loud?
Great vid as usual. the best thing about that watch is the patina look on the case. Nice to see that there is no snobery regarding a quartz watch. I love my mechanical watches but you just can't beat a quartz for accuracy, toughness, shock proofness (not really a word) and price point. The only downside to quartz watches is that they don't have that smooth running seconds hand. However, have you seen the new bulova ultra high frequency watches. The smooth run of the seconds hand is as good as a grand seiko spring drive and you can find some of these bulova watches as cheap as $140 on-line.
RondelayAOK that goes for anything: companies, towns, football clubs, countries; practically anything with a collective they treat as a plural rather than a singular. :)
I thik Timex is on the right path with pieces like this. Great watch. Forget what whatch snobs say. It is a good quartz watch, with great personality and original design. Very good video also. Greetings from Brazil.
I recently got home from picking my Sub at Tourneau from service. Only bought 2 years ago and something went wrong with it. I also have the Speedy Tuesday watch coming in. I also am very tempted to pick up a Tudor Pelagos. TGV, you gotta send help hahaha. Great video as usual! Thank you for sharing!
Sorry to hear about your Sub Shawn. As for the Pelagos, stay tuned as I am long over due to review it. Haha, the best help I can recommend it to embrace the sickness ;-) Life is too damn short my friend, enjoy all the watches you can! Best regards, TGV
Love Timex watches, ive had a Expedition with brown leather strap for around 9 years and its never gone wrong, and the leather strap looks like new still! quite unbelievable really, i mean i dont wear it to work only weekends or days off, but still 9 years is a long time. They also look more expensive than they actually are.
Watched this review and immediately went on and bought the blacked out version for my job as a medical professional. Seems like a nice durable watch with a good price point to where I won't feel bad if I get some bodily fluids on it haha.
Great channel! I am learning a lot. Based on this review I ordered one from Timex. It arrived today and looks great. Unfortunately, it’s defective. The crown came stuck in the “out” position so I can move the hands but it won’t push back in, so it tells correct time only twice a day. I called Timex but they were closed for the weekend. I suppose they will make it right eventually. But it should never have been shipped as it was. Edited to add: Apparently there is a very tiny plastic tab that needs to be removed with a needle which was not mentioned in the literature. Had to get info from a discussion forum. White plastic against stainless background. Needed a magnifying glass and a sewing needle to get it off. Now the watch works fine and I do really like it. My watch came with olive green strap which suits it better than the brown. I did order a NATO strap for it
i just returned this watch. i took off the back cover to discover a huge CR2016 battery. it was impossible to put the snap cover back on. STUPID design flaw by timex
Another great review that led me to buy this watch. Mine came with a dark olive green band that I’ve come to really like. The watch is now my favorite everyday go to watch. I especially like the 38 mm size on my 6-1/2” wrist. So much better than the ridiculous hub caps that many wear on their wrists. I much prefer quartz to automatic. I don’t enjoy having to reset the time and date on my automatics after they’ve been dormant for awhile. Thank you for reviewing affordable and enjoyable watches. You are the absolute best!
I bought this watch on a Black Friday Sale from the Timex website and ended up returning it. The second hand would hit the markers for the first 20 seconds and then miss from there on and then reset at 12. It bothered me so much that I sent it back as a defective product. Timex acted quick to process the return shipping label, but took too long to send a replacement, so I opted for a refund. I really liked the Diver Style dial, but hated that it was a 38mm with a 18mm strap and the acrylic glass.
It's 2023 and there's a new version of this watch two of them actually one is an automatic and one is quartz. BUT I wanted this old-school one with the red numbers for the 24-hour time I finally found one brand new in the box and I love it
Just remembered my first "proper" watch was a Timex when I was 12. Built like a tank, think it was an Expedition model. White dial i think, incredible lume and had a leather strap.Lasted years!
Hi from England TVG, have become a huge fan of your channel in recent months - loved this video and on the back of it sought the watch out and managed to grab one in mint condition for £37 on eBay! Very pleased indeed. Keep up the good work :)
I never really thought about Timex or liked their products until you did the Marlin video and I bought my own '65 Marlin. Later I picked up a Timex Aluminum MK1 for it's Vietnam field vibe. I was surprised that all the markers and hands have lume as well as the Indiglo. I really wanted this model, it's such a cool vintage style and I like the looped hour hand.
Huckberry made a beast of a pro level field watch for less than $200 (Pilot Mission Timer) , but since it’s technically a fashion watch it went right under the radar. If it were made by a “name” brand it would’ve been a smash hit.
Yeah I agree. It's safe to go back to mechanical movements Timex! I'd buy one. Great review. I really like your reviews of the affordable watches under $500.00 for poor shleps like me! haha
It is a nice looking watch, and the hour hand framing the hour numbers is a nice touch indeed. The only thing that disturbs my eye is the wobble of the second hand. Very loose tolerance there. That's just the kind of thing you still find in Chinese watches. Much of them is very well done, but some detail may be considerably worse. My Seagull has hands made out of some incredibly soft alloy. The minute hand actually fell off. Yet everything else in it seems fine, even high quality.
TGV, reading where Jackie's Cartier Tank (Circa '63) just sold at auction for $370k. This throwback new Timex is a beauty, will have to grab one. Even as a Swiss collector, I enjoy wearing my newer Casio Duro Marlin. Getting back to vintage Timex, not uncommon to see them in foreign flea markets, many in very good condition (cheap). Best, JP
OMG, I love that Carty! Imagine owning that and gifting it to a loved one! So glad to hear you enjoy the Duro and great point about the flea markets! Excellent comment as always, thank you JP Best regards, TGV
Why the rough dislikes? Even if you are not a fan of the watch, someone might be and the content is great as always.

Come on, no one even wears a watch inside a plane nowadays. You're probably hanging out with a bunch of amateur private pilots.
@@mrlxnx You know whats interesting? Most of my CFIs wear smart watches.

@@hoihoi12250 As long as I know this watches "glow" in the dark, but just a few hours.
I love the quartz watches in the mid $100s price range. You get a beautiful case, durability, style, and design. Glad to see you reviewing good quartz watches. For many people, this is all the watch they’ll ever really need.
The see through hour hand showing the 24hr scale on the dial is pure genius. Never seen this before! Great video thumbs up!
Freakin awesome watch for $135. So happy to see this watch is QUARTZ. A watch like this needs QUARTZ dependability. Automatics are special but they are not work horse QUARTZ. Quartz changed the world of watches and rightfully so.
I find the quartz vs automatic argument to be very reminiscent of the vinyl vs CD argument in music.
I like both for different moods and occasions.

I wonder how many Timex watches you sold with that intro! What a great intro for such an affordable piece.
I hope you never catch a case of watch snobbery and can continue to enjoy and showcase affordable pieces, especially considering so many of your subs are young or new to watches.
Stop making these videos, I save up my money and then watch a video from you and my savings go back down.. is kinda a watch fund though!

Nice 325i
Honestly I feel like Timex has carved a really nice area for themselves in the watch world. I look to them for more casual watches I can pair with clothes but still getting those quality time pieces I can take pride in due to their history.
I love the way the lumed circle on the second hand fills the open circle in the hour hand when they pass. Very satisfying to observe.

Thank you Katrina :D
So glad you approve,
Best regards,
TGV
You've done it again TGV! You've made me fall in love with a watch I wouldn't have otherwise considered.
Top Gun intro! :)
Just an FYI, the Indian army issues a lot of Timex watches to its military and my mate swears by its ruggedness.
Cheers
Good to know I always wondered what watch Indian Army wears.
I know this video is two years old but I want to thank you for giving reviews of less expensive watches. I really appreciate it.
Thank you for the very interesting review of a relatively unknown model. Oh, and I didn't have you down as a Marilyn Manson listener before that intro!
+DiscoFalcon: Thank you very much, I'm glad that you enjoy my videos!
couldn't agree more!
Cheers!
Thank you Andrew, I guess will will keep wishing!
Best regards,
TGV
I had a Seiko chronograph just like that. The large seconds hand snapped so perfectly over the tiny markers on the dial, the tip seemed to disappear.
AndrewTGreen Yawn😴
I should be on my bed sleeping but TGV drops a video and how can I wait for the morning
Haha, very honoured. I hope your dream a filled with horological wonders ;-)
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
usman riaz haha I'm glad I'm not the only one 👍
This is a great watch and wonderful review. I always enjoy it when you have a look at watches in a very accessible price range. There is so much variety and quality to be found there. The skeletal hour hand is a real touch on this one.
Thank you so much Joseph, I could not agree more, so much to discover!
Best regards,
TGV
Wonderful! Someone at Timex is really paying attention. They really seem to be capturing some wonderful designs these days, across the price spectrum. Here, here to Timex!
Thank you Aron, so glad you agree and always lovely to hear from you.
I hope you are well,
Best regards,
TGV
this intro is such a treat.
i recently got a similar timex you got with the champagne dial
put a dark brown, chocolatey leather strap on it
and all is well
man I never thought I would love timex this much, because of you
back in the Philippines when I lived there Timex is looked down upon as cheap
but no one even considered that it's a historical factor in WW2!!
knowledge does change you, today I learned...
I just realized..... I'm here right as you upload
I guess I am early today aren't I haha
Thank you Harvard,
Who cares what people think of Timex, its got heritage and style.
As long as you enjoy it, that is all that matters! THAT is what it is all about,
Enjoy it my friend and wear it with pride!
Best regards,
TGV
Thank you for doing great reviews on ALL types of watches. I respect the fact that you treat plastic G Shocks and Timex watches the same as you treat a Rolex. I love all types too and a $50 watch gets me just as excited as my Montblanc. Please keep up the great reviews and all of the videos you give us.
Timex was my combat zone watch and was the official timekeeper for my unit. It never faltered.
I just got mine and it’s FANTASTIC! A real winner for the price point and even better with 25% discount. It would be perfect at 40mm to enjoy better the dial. Money well spent.
Your intros and the choices for music are just impeccable.
Thank you so much :D
Best regards,
TGV
Love the video TGV! As much as I enjoy the top flight pieces you frequently have, the reviews on those that punch well above their price are the most exciting. This is a great example. Keep up the good work. Cheers!
That inspires me greatly to hear, they are often the most fun and interesting to talk about too.
Thank you my friend,
Best regards,
TGV
I agree. I find it nice to learn about watches that are affordable, new and interesting.
LOL, wow I didn't even hear it in the editing!
Thank you for the kind words, very kind.
Best regards,
TGV
Timex often has the parts sourcing on the box. If the movement is from the Philippines, then it's an in-house Timex movement. I think that is only on Indiglo models now, though. I changed the battery on an Expedition for a friend of mine a month or so ago. It hit every index marker on the dial with the seconds hand, which seriously impressed me, and it used the 2016 battery. I think that if it says Japan movement, then it's a Miyota or Seiko.
Nice video I am a big fan of timex they make some great everyday watches that are strong reliable and accurate
Why do they have so many bad reviews?
This is one of my favorite videos of yours. I appreciate how you take a look at watches of all price levels!
I'm with you on the design being quite handsome but it was a bit painful watching the second hand jerk along ; - (
TGV is like the David Attenborough of horological instruments.
The skeletonized hour hand that encircles the 24 hour indicators is a fantastic idea. I don't recall ever seeing that anywhere before.
Thank you Rick,
I believe the Hamilton I reviewed a while ago had something similar but done not nearly so good.
Best regards,
TGV
The intro just gets better and more superb!!
Great video as always! Video suggestion unless you already covered it: As somebody that is beginning to have expensive pieces, I would like to know more about safes and what to buy that is good quality. Thanks in advance !
Thank you sir, very interesting idea, I will certainly look into it.
Best regards,
TGV
The Urban Gentry Yea it'd be good if you could do a "what to look for" when buying a watch
I literally paused the video to post this comment: that was the best intro ever!!
Thank you so much Louis,
Deeply flattered.
Best regards,
TGV
The archive line are pretty cool, love the vintage feeling of it, and it's super affordable. May get one in near future!
So glad to hear, it certainly is a lot of fun for the money,
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
I really do love the design on this one. Those hands truly set it off as a remarkably handsome yet rugged looking piece. If this were an automatic I'd probably have to own one!
I like the bezel but I think the hands are pretty phenomenal. Also the watch is perfect for two things. One, you can use it as a beater watch or, two, as a gift for young beginner watch enthusiast as their first watch. It's not that expensive but pleasing to the eyes for most people. I dont mind the quartz movt even though not telling us what the movt is is pretty shady thing to do.
So glad you agree about the bezel, its a very subtle detail but soooooooo practical.
Thank you Faizal,
Best regards,
TGV
I think having a supply of stylish budget watches is always great for going on holiday with. They'll keep time, look great, and you won't have to be anxious about the high cost of them getting damaged, lost, stolen, etc.
I'm not much of a black dial person; but, I think that is a desirable offering. My first time-piece was a manual Timex[Mickey], which I received as a child. I use my Timex Iron-man every day. I must keep at least one Timex in my lifestyle.
Nice intro, great story and watch as always, thanks
very impressive -just googled it, the strongest example from the whole line -
So glad you agree, it stood out to me too.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
Guys? Is it only me or this watch has dissipated from the internet? It's nowhere to be found!
sold out :(
Was it a limited edition? I cannot even find information about the reference number!
3:36 You never encountered an aged case before? Have a look at the Laco Flieger Erbstück watches!
As I said I have not, I tend to gravitate towards polished cases, I will certainly check out the Laco, they have been high on my list for a very long time. thank you
Best regards,
TGV
That hour hand and inner 24 hr time would be really neat on a leaping hour movement.
Splendid looking. Tell me which NATO strap company did you select? Barton? Richie? would appreciate the feed back. Cheers.
If I had to choose between this and an SKX013, which would you pick?
I picked up the black navi harbor with the leather strap (for $119 shipped with the email list discount) from Timex's store a couple of minutes ago. Great review! I've been into pocket knives for a while but never got into watches until recently. I really like the hands on this one and as I get older I find myself gravitating towards more mechanical things. Seems like nothing is made of metal anymore.
I already own two Invictas for when getting dirty or swimming or so, do you think i should sell them and get this one ?
I love how the timex watches look, but I've been seeing complaints about how loud they are. That's a dealbreaker for me.
Is there any timex model that doesn't tick so loud?
How loud is the movement on this? Usually they wake the dead
Great question. Thankfully it is super quiet.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
Great vid as usual. the best thing about that watch is the patina look on the case. Nice to see that there is no snobery regarding a quartz watch. I love my mechanical watches but you just can't beat a quartz for accuracy, toughness, shock proofness (not really a word) and price point. The only downside to quartz watches is that they don't have that smooth running seconds hand. However, have you seen the new bulova ultra high frequency watches. The smooth run of the seconds hand is as good as a grand seiko spring drive and you can find some of these bulova watches as cheap as $140 on-line.
interesting that the British take company names to be a plural noun rather than singular. for me I would say "Timex" makes, rather than make.
Best regards,
TGV
Love Timex watches, ive had a Expedition with brown leather strap for around 9 years and its never gone wrong, and the leather strap looks like new still! quite unbelievable really, i mean i dont wear it to work only weekends or days off, but still 9 years is a long time. They also look more expensive than they actually are.
The dial on this one is just like the Ollech & Wajs M4
Timex I’ve noticed has stepped up there styling great job !!!
BUT I wanted this old-school one with the red numbers for the 24-hour time I finally found one brand new in the box and I love it
Not available on Timex website, nothing found on Amazon or eBay.. Was this a limited run watch?
I really like your reviews of the affordable watches under $500.00 for poor shleps like me! haha
I live in England on the Wirral, my first watch was a children’s manual wind Timex watch back in 1971 when I was 4
After your last video I bought the Navi ocean from selfridges and I love it, it's pure class
Dear TGV, I'm happy to report that I got the Seiko SKX009 thanks to your influence! Second watch I got on your recommendation! Cheers!
Congrats my friend, enjoy it and wear it with pride!
Welcome to the SKX club my friend,
Best regards,
TGV
Does this model have the loud ticking that many of the weekender models have?
Excellent comment as always, thank you JP
Best regards,
TGV
