Finally a video where the watch choices are diverse, most videos tend to list the same boring watches. Again nicely done, very informative, and the research is all there! A+
Hi Jody i have a Seiko with a 7S26 I have owned it for 18years and it has never been opened and after all this time it works exactly as it did at new , the Swiss boys are put to shame in someway by Seiko 👌
JUST getting into watches and I have isolated your’s as one of the more helpful channels. Thank you so much for having such a passion for what you do and making information as accessible and understandable as you do. I’ll be floating around your comments section, brother. Thanks again!
Have the Guanqin myself on a bond nato, and a Seiko snk8. Also owned 2 Vostok Amphibias. There’s no one better on TH-cam when it comes to affordable pieces than Jody!
This channel is one of the best for someone looking for a quality bargain watch. I like that you introduce cool new watches not yet popular by other reviewers.
Mate, great video, how can one man share so much knowledge about watches with not so much as a hint of snobbery or “my dad’s bigger than your dad”. Please keep it this way.
Only if they improve the luminescence. I wore mine for a week, but was frustrated not being able to read the time in the dark. Anyone want to buy a cheap Duro?
Just watched this Jody, I don’t want to sound like a snob as I personally wouldn’t buy any of these but it’s nice to know that; 1) There’s watches out there that are actually decent for £50 2) I’d definitely pick any one of these over any so called ‘fashion’ watches e.g. Daniel Wellington. 3) It’s nice to know that there’s a TH-camr out there than can review anything from Omega to a Chinese watch.
I work in a hospital boiler room and before this I worked in the engine room of a US Navy ship. Most common watches we wore were Casio or Timex. Timex analogs match my style taste and price. Digital I can go for either Casio or Timex. They have some dress up digitals and some rugged sports digitals. While visiting Odessa Ukraine in 1995 I bought a Vostok. It worked well but I no longer have it. Fell into hard times after leaving the Navy and pawned off that watch.
You really did your research...I was on a budget at the time I saw this vid and I bought a weekender and the casiden and they still work perfect... Thank you, your channel is great (definetely deserves more subs).
I realized after watching this again, this was one of the first JOMW videos I watched when I started collecting. I now own almost every watch on this list! 😀
YESSSS! This is the type of video that got me hooked on your channel! I'm looking for a G-Shock 5600 as my next purchase. I'll say having owned both Casios and Timexes, I'll go Casio all day. My Timex field watch lost its seal and fogged up after a dunk in the pool, without ever opening the case! My fav all time budget Casio is the now discontinued W-71. I don't know why they don't still make it. Unlike the often talked about F-91W, it shows the day and date with month. It's a much better look IMHO. And 10 bucks! Keep it up Jody, love your stuff.
It was love at first sight: the Wenger Field Classic, brown dial blue numbers. Yet, every time I watch your videos and want one it is nowhere to be found. I've searched for hours and come to the conclusion that they only made one such item and it was scarfed up immediately. Thanks, Jody, I had to settle for a bottle of Scotch daily since.
I'm an archaeologist and do a lot of fieldwork. I have a number of mechanical field watches (including SKX007 and Vostok Amphibia) but the SNK809 lives on my wrist due to its perfect size, recessed crown at 4, bracelet and day/date complications. I love my SKX but the SNK trumps it as an everyday practical field watch, as I don't notice it is there until I need it.
Awesome collection of watches near $50 dollars. Of course I love the green Seiko 5 and I own one. The Casio with the seal strap looked fantastic! I'm not into the digital watches too much but the last Casio wasn't bad. I also bought one of the Vostok watches. Love that as well. Nice variety Jody.
I gotta tell you that your channel is quickly becoming one of my favorites and I've already loaded up my 2019 list of watches to buy with a bunch of your suggestions. I love that you're down to Earth and not a watch snob. I myself would rather have a wide variety of watches to pick from than 2 or 3 really expensive watches to alternate through. Keep up the great work!!!
I ended up buying a Casio Duro as a result of your old video and TGV raving about it and was not disappointed. Not the easiest watch to find in the UK hence why I ended up importing from the U.S.A. but worth the inconvenience. I wear it on the apparently unfashionable Casio metal bracelet but it's my "go to" beater and appears pretty much indestructible. I also have the Seiko 5 SNK which is an unbelievable watch for the money. Love the channel and please keep going on the cheap Chinese watch vids!
Great video. I may have to spring on one of these for my 12 year old son. I'll have to check them all out. Maybe even a beater for me. Can't wait to see the next roundup.
Just found your channel. Of all of the watch channels TH-cam dropped on me after I did a search on a watch I was interested in, yours is the only one I subscribed to. Ive always been interested in Ali Express but always too leary of buying anything there. You make it look promising. Nice channel.
The SNK 800 series are NOT 37 mm in diameter, they are barely 34.9 mm which make it a very small watch especially if you have a medium to large wrist. All 800 series and some Seiko dress watches with the crown at 4:00 o'clock are small watches.
A very nicely curated collection of high value wrist watches. I must be your target market because I already own three of them: a Timex Weekender Chrono, a Seiko SNK805 and a paratrooper model Komandirskie. Thanks for another entertaining video!
A quick look on the Starking watch online with the Chinese movement shows they work well - if you get a good one. Otherwise, there could be major problems. Apparently the company has good customer service according to the reviews though, but it's still a time cost. The watch itself is nice though (looking at this video). Based on another of Jody's videos, I got the white Cadisen C1032 from AliExpress.Took a week to arrive & cost me £36 in the September '19 sale only last week - thanks for pointing that out Just One More Watch. Excellent.
As a fan of the Vostok watch in it's many forms, I'd like to thank you for the link to their own retail site. I'm sure that the Komandirski was waterproof to 100M and the Amphibia is OK at 200M, (the automatic 31 jewel dive version.)
Invicta pro diver is the best ultra budget diver watch. The Chinese sub homages like Pagani design, San Martin, etc, are good too, but as usual with Chinese product's it's a lottery if you'll get a very good unit or a lemon
This is by far the best watch channel on TH-cam. You don't just focus on the expensive watches, and appreciate the good cheaper watches that are available out there from the likes of AliExpress and Gearbest.
For me the standouts on this list based on what I'd be most likely to wear would be the Casio Duro (How do they sell that for that price?), the G-shock, and the Vostok. I've seen these reviewed elsewhere. They are what you'd expect from a cheap Russian watch. They don't work great, but they don't work great forever. I'd get one just because it would make me smile wearing it.
Great job man! Great information and presentation. I have the Casio Duro, Guanqin GJ16034, and two of the Starkings. Not bad at all, keep up the spectacular work.
I've been subscribed to your channel and almost binge watching your videos for about two weeks now. I love your no nonsense style of presentation and the amount of information you somehow manage to share in each video without having it feel overwhelming. I'm a beginning watch collector (I actually yet have to start my collection) but a long time enthusiast. This is without a doubt one of the best channels out there!
Bought a Komanderskie in 2015 for under $20. Put it on a cheap metal mesh band and it looked pretty cool. Gave it to a friend who I knew would either lose or destroy it. He really liked it until he did, and I wasn't bothered. Great product.
I have the Guanqin. Bought it while I was watching your review of it. It’s lasted me years! Granted, it’s an occasional wear, but when I wear it, I’m not exactly babying it. I’ve smacked it against door frames and on my desk at work. Still holding up.
Yet again I am knocked on my arse, I mean who knew??? Not me but I sure do now. It’s 01:20 here in England and just binged on you (getting a little Carry On there) for a few hours and all the better for it! Bought a couple as I watched so alls well I guess? Nice one Jody
I own the wenger with a black dial and the dw5600, a Seiko is also in my collection. I purchase a Timex weekender every time I see them on offer £30 or under, not purchased a Chrono version yet but it looks very nice
Even though this is only the second of your videos I've seen, so far I really like what you're doing. I mentioned on the other one that the G-Shock DW-5600 is next on my soon to be mine watches, but now I'm not too sure. It's definitely still ONE of the first though. TBH, I'm kind of liking that Seiko, especially the finish. Also, that first Chinese one would almost do it for me because sometimes I prefer a minimalist dial, but the only thing holding me back is that XII at the top. I hate Roman numerals. It doesn't matter how much I like the rest of the watch, Roman numerals are a deal breaker. Another interesting watch is that Casio SGW-500H Twin Sensor that I mentioned on the other video. You might have to hunt around a little, but with a little time it can be found for around $50. It's loaded with a few complications that I've never used like sunup and sunset times, moon age, five alarms and world time. Also has a digital readout for the compass as well as the seconds hand pointing out direction and a thermometer that I really don't use much. Honestly, most of its complications I don't use and probably never will, but I knew that when I bought it. When I was still in the looking around phase I was comparing it to a similar Timex T49859 I remember that the compass was a fourth hand on the dial and that it had tide in/out times. Once I started looking into it, I noticed it didn't have a digital display, and also no subdials, so no timer, alarm or chronograph. It had a date wheel at 6 o'clock, and a couple circular graphs on the dial that I assume was how you read the temperature, tide and direction. Overall, it really didn't do anything for me and was $30 more that the Casio, but it didn't have the basics. Anyway, I'm going to check out a few more on your channel and probably sub. Oh yeah, and btw... Nice t-shirt!
Where can I find the watch winders/displays you have on your shelf? They look really nice! I’m referring to the 4 single ones that you have stacked. Thanks for the video, btw! I’m looking at ordering the Seiko SNK805. Edit: Nevermind! I found your video on them!
Watched while wearing my Timex Expedition. Love your throw away references. Hope you take your towel next time you pop down to the pub. Hope you can figure out a way to look at and compare movements and other aspects of the watch like you started with the lume comparison. Not totally sure how, but then you're the expert.
Yes. And those workers are damned happy not to be subsistence farmers anymore. Let's boycott everything in China and send those people back out in the fields to battle seasonal starvation, shall we?! I'm not a fan of China, but showing them that markets and manufacturing are a better way to go than unmitigated central planning is not an evil.
When I saw the notification I was already like "Oh no, in the end I will buy another watch..." And the big suprise at number 10, my next modding victim and hopefully yours ;) Btw. as far as I know they have brass-cases but they are always chromed (gold colored chrome like thing....) so it wont get any patina...BUT you can get rid of it by putting the case into acid for some minutes (really not a big thing)...with some work they can look awesome (and you can use all the amphibia parts (hands, bezel, dial...) Can't wait for the Details review!
I am truly happy I watched, and found your channel!! I’ve always been a watch lover! And had been given a Seiko 5 years ago and finally destroyed it at work. So I had turned into a full time G-shock guy!! Until I watched a few of your videos . I now have a snk 809 in route from creation watches !! So thanks for your helpful information! Im definitely a new subscriber!
Thanks so much again. Another great video, another great list of budget watches :) as I‘m developing my knowledge and getting deeper and deeper into time pieces I really love your entertaining vids. And I‘ve found some watches here to be added to my (still tiny) collection. Greetz from Bavaria
Fantastic first time here great video... Love casio.... Have you ever done review on any casio protrek watches... Would love to see some... Stay safe my friend...
I love all things Vostok. I've got five of those hand wind Komandirskies. The one shown with the KV tank is my favorite. I put a twist-flex band on it for the nostalgic look. A lot of pictures or video footage you see of the former Soviet Union shows the men wearing these watches with an expandable band on it, or just a plain bracelet.
Great watches, great video, great T-shirt, love ur Scottish accent. 🏴👍 Most people can’t afford “luxury watches” so it is great that you test affordable watches and give them some love. I am surprised about these proudly Chinese pieces. They seem to be a good alternative.
Great Value Review! jodi, you have me heading to Gearbest & Amazon for 4 more watches. I love that Guanqin at the beginning. Keep up these great value reviews on watches. I would love to see you do one on maybe the top 5 bang for the buck Seiko's in your opinion. Thanks again Jodi!
I bought the same Komandirskie you have after your review and really like it. I do have to say though, that the horrible strep is not so horrible. As a matter of fact is was ok when I first put it on. After that it got real comfortable. I like it on the stock strap better than the NATO. So all in all, the strap is pretty Damn good!
Absolutely love Vostoks but my personal choice would be the Amphibia line. For just a few dollars more you get 200m water resistance and an automatic movement. I own 3 of them. And, yes, I agree totally about the straps on these - always catching the hair on your wrist. Although the more you wear them the less this happens.
@@stevek8829 He piloted it, but I don't think he took part in naming it.) The thing is, in the USSR there used to be a numder of common words people named stuff with. Kind of like Americans name everything "Liberty", "Patriot" etc. "Vostok" is one of such words. Some of the others are: Yunost' (юность) - juvenility Slava (слава) - glory Pobeda (победа) - victory Mir (мир) - peace Druzhba (дружба) - friendship Soyuz (союз) - union Energiya (энергия) - energy etc.
I got a Timex weekender as a reward at work. It arrived in the mail broken, and too late to send it back for a replacement. Too bad, they are really nice looking watches.
Great video Jody! I had to subscribe after watching it. What I like most about this video is the bang for the buck. Let’s face it. For 50 bucks there are a lot of watches that are simply junk. But if you do your research as you have done, there are some decent looking accurate watches. The sad part about Chinese watches is that many of them are sold as expensive (for the quality) brand name watches.
Thanks I got a Timex and I would think of purchasing a Chronograph weekender, but my recommendation for you for a watch under 50 bucks is the Timex Expedition T49869 I recommended for you and that watch rocks!
Finally a video where the watch choices are diverse, most videos tend to list the same boring watches. Again nicely done, very informative, and the research is all there! A+
He definitely does his homework, Scotland the Brave! - Scottish but living in Switzerland.

Hi Jody i have a Seiko with a 7S26 I have owned it for 18years and it has never been opened and after all this time it works exactly as it did at new , the Swiss boys are put to shame in someway by Seiko 👌
Doesnt matter is 7s26. That being said, when it bites the dust u could probably just buy a new one for like $20
JUST getting into watches and I have isolated your’s as one of the more helpful channels.

What do you think about the Guanqin? Is good quality compare to the snk for example?
This channel is one of the best for someone looking for a quality bargain watch. I like that you introduce cool new watches not yet popular by other reviewers.
Mate, great video, how can one man share so much knowledge about watches with not so much as a hint of snobbery or “my dad’s bigger than your dad”. Please keep it this way.
I wish Casio would expand the Duro line just a bit a bet that they would be wildly popular.
They need a mini Duro IMHO, maybe 40mm. 44mm is a touch too big for me, and probably many others. We could call it 'Durito.' (little hard guy)
Agreed, a 40+mm automatic diver's 200m would be nice no fancier than the duro but maybe more tool, full brushed case etc..
Only if they improve the luminescence. I wore mine for a week, but was frustrated not being able to read the time in the dark. Anyone want to buy a cheap Duro?
@@SkippyTheRedKangaroo how cheap?

13:57 that second hand alignment on the Wenger was PERFECT.
Perfectly in between the seconds indices, I mean.
Yeah, unfortunately a lot of quartz watches have this problem...
I work in a hospital boiler room and before this I worked in the engine room of a US Navy ship. Most common watches we wore were Casio or Timex. Timex analogs match my style taste and price. I love the Duro, when I bought I no idea of it's popularity. Mine is on a Nato as the original strap split.
That silver Cadisen C1032 is gorgeous.

This is my favorite video to date from your channel.
Keep doing what you do brother!
When I saw the notification I was already like "Oh no, in the end I will buy another watch..."
And the big suprise at number 10, my next modding victim and hopefully yours ;)
Btw. as far as I know they have brass-cases but they are always chromed (gold colored chrome like thing....) so it wont get any patina...BUT you can get rid of it by putting the case into acid for some minutes (really not a big thing)...with some work they can look awesome (and you can use all the amphibia parts (hands, bezel, dial...)
Can't wait for the Details review!
Thanks mate! Welcome.
I have a timex waterbury. Extremely similar to the weekender. I highly recommend the weekender. I also have the vostok. Changed the band to a nato.
Thanks so much again. Another great video, another great list of budget watches :) as I‘m developing my knowledge and getting deeper and deeper into time pieces I really love your entertaining vids. And I‘ve found some watches here to be added to my (still tiny) collection. Greetz from Bavaria
Thank you for this budget list. I see a few I may go get
The Cadisen and Seiko were my favorite. Figures both have Seiko movements.
Nice champagne! I love Perrier Jouet.
What a great review! Keep up the good work.
Greetings from northern Sweden and a new subscriber and fellow watch enthusiast.
Nice video. Got me thinking about the snk805 or not.
I have been wearing the Guanqin as a daily driver for damn near six months now and it still looks great.
Awesome video! I own both the G-Shock DW-5600 and the Seiko SNK800 in blue (which I rarely wear because I want to replace the blue nylon wrist strap).
Great watches, great video, great T-shirt, love ur Scottish accent. 🏴👍 Most people can’t afford “luxury watches” so it is great that you test affordable watches and give them some love. I am surprised about these proudly Chinese pieces. They seem to be a good alternative.
Well thought I'd give the starking a try :) just ordered...
Man, I would just love to grab a pint with you at a pub. So chill.
Nice to see my Times made the list. I bought used on eBay for $25!
One of my favorite channels easily. Amazing content in all your videos!
Gracias por tus videos. Saludos desde Colombia.
Great suggestions Jody. I have three of these. Love my Wenger.
Wow! A whole watch collection for under 500 bucks.
Great video.
Really enjoy your videos. Your personality makes the content!
Nice video. Have the Casio Duro myself, as a job watch. Really suprised about the quality.
I'm planing on getting one. So I have to ask does the colour fade due to use overtime ? Can it take a few beatings ?
Absolutely love Vostoks but my personal choice would be the Amphibia line. For just a few dollars more you get 200m water resistance and an automatic movement. I own 3 of them. And, yes, I agree totally about the straps on these - always catching the hair on your wrist. Although the more you wear them the less this happens.
Because you'll have no arm hair left as the bracelet will have pulled all of it. Lol jk
@@XxLordDaegonxX 🤣🤣🤣 true
That Guanqin is such a value .
Enjoying your videos Jody, keep up the good work.
That t shirt reminds me of virtually every shop on the Royal mile!
Info overload...love it! Thanks for providing the links, too. Very helpful and thanks for making this "marathon" video 😊
Great video! Note that Vostok is pronounced "vastòk° (means "east").
So Yuri Gagarin named his craft "East?"
@@stevek8829 He piloted it, but I don't think he took part in naming it.)
The thing is, in the USSR there used to be a numder of common words people named stuff with. Kind of like Americans name everything "Liberty", "Patriot" etc.
"Vostok" is one of such words. Some of the others are:
Yunost' (юность) - juvenility
Slava (слава) - glory
Pobeda (победа) - victory
Mir (мир) - peace
Druzhba (дружба) - friendship
Soyuz (союз) - union
Energiya (энергия) - energy
etc.
I got the Wenger and duro and I love them so much! I love your list videos
Me entering 2021 with a Duro and a Starking AM0184:
"ah yes, excellent :D "
I got a Timex weekender as a reward at work. It arrived in the mail broken, and too late to send it back for a replacement. Too bad, they are really nice looking watches.
Huh! Blue and brown are the school colors of my alma mater. It would have been interesting to wear that Wenger around while I was an undergrad!
I love these budget videos! Some nice beater watches as well as some classy dress items. Keep up the watch hunt.
I knew of three of these, but what a list! Love the video and I really appreciate your expertise.
Thanks I got a Timex and I would think of purchasing a Chronograph weekender, but my recommendation for you for a watch under 50 bucks is the Timex Expedition T49869 I recommended for you and that watch rocks!
Possibly counter fit watches reflected in price
