For anyone wondering about the "why do german if you want to do medicine?" question; most universities look at extra curricular activities/skills when deciding who to offer medical interviews/offers because 95% of medicine applicants have the grades and work experience needed. They use things like being able to speak more than one language, or art and music to differentiate between candidates. Universities don't want you to be hyperfocused solely on medicine. I'm studying biomedicine (and no I don't actually want to be a doctor😂) but whilst at college, two of my friends applied to Oxford for medicine. One of them did the 3 sciences and maths, the other did bio, chem, maths and art. They both had interviews but the one that did art was successful and it was actually a large focal point during her interview. Just some food for thought😌
You make some excellent points! It's definitely a good idea to choose a subject you enjoy and shows you have a wider skill set as your third/fourth option. Thank you for your wisdom :) xx
It hurts to suck at maths gcse cuz I know how to do everything and just mess up due to doubt and I did my mocks and got only a 5 whilst others got 7s and I’m aiming for that 6 yk :/ hopefully I can achieve that. I’m way better at English and I’m not accepting that without a 6 in maths 😭
Hey, I know its easier said than done but try not to compare yourself to others, it does greater harm than good. You've still got plenty of time, I'm sure you will be able to achieve that with enough hard work! Plus if you've got other strong subjects like English that could really work in your favour. Wishing you all the best with your GCSEs x
@@medwithtemI Hope i can still do medicine if I get 7s mostly (expect for the odd 6s) in my GCSEs :) I’m also doing history which I chose, and then French and art! Hey! I've actually got a whole video about clearing and how applying through it works, it's my most recent one. If you have any more questions after that please let me know :)
Hello! Thank you for watching ❤️ It depends on the course you are apply for, for more competitive courses it’s more likely that you will have to go through the interview process. For medicine, I personally had to go through all the tests and interviews given to the people who did not apply through clearing
@medwithtem8345 wait uhm so...if the university is more competitive (e.g uhm I don't know Brighton for example) a student given a verbal offer may have to go through an interview?Even thought they are going through clearance? Also, thank you for your reply :)
@@bellastarmartin4601 No worries at all! It's more to do with how competitive the course is rather than the actual university and if an interview was required for the students that got an offer via the non-clearing route. If an interview was required for these students then it's likely you will have to have an interview too, if there was no interview required for them then I doubt that you would have to have one

Hi Leo, my overall score was 2380 which is really quite low. I’d say anything from 2600+ is a very good score and I know that was my aim when I was preparing. If you look at the UCAT requirements for medical schools you are considering that might give you a better idea on what to aim for though :)

Hey I'm currently doing my GCSEs, I'm going to take bio chem and pe next year for a levels but what grades do I need to get. Are 7s and a few 8s ok and maybe an odd 6 in like a weak subject ?
Hey, that should be okay! My lowest grade was a 4 in Spanish and I still managed to get in. However, most medical schools ask that you have a minimum number of GCSEs within a range of grades for example 6-9 and they may even specify that certain subjects such as Maths and English Language be in this list. Your best bet would be going to the website of the medical schools you were looking to apply to and looking at their specific grade requirements. Hope that helps x
