- Hi guys, welcome to the channel. Today we’re going to talk about how to write your Medicine personal statement. We start by talking about the technical details of the personal statement (character count, submission deadline), then talk about the 2 reasons why the personal statement is so important to your application. We then summarise how each of the 37 different UK medical schools use the personal statement as part of the application process. Finally, we breakdown my personal statement from top to bottom.

Who am I? My name is Arun, I’m a junior doctor working in London and graduated from Cambridge University 2 years ago. I’ve helped 100s of students over the last 10 years or so get into med school with things like personal statements, picking uni choices, the UCAT & BMAT exams and medical school interviews. I was the lead UCAT & BMAT tutor for Kaplan Test Prep for 5 years and helped write their materials. I started up a company called Easy Medical Interviews to help students for their medical school interviews. I’ve decided to put all my experience over the years onto TH-cam now so its completely free for you guys and hopefully you find it useful!
This is so useful. I’m 41 and applying for graduate entry medicine next year. I will definitely refer back to this when I do my personal statement.

Thank you so much, i literally finished mine in 3 hrs. Just need to tweak it a little and then I'm done.
Hi Arun, a lot of your personal statement is based on physical work experience/shadowing and travelling that you did. How would you advise people applying during the pandemic to write their personal statement? I was only able to do care work and volunteer in the hospital for a few months, I haven't had much contact with doctors, so I am very nervous :(
same my local hospitals have stopped work experience programmes and I am going to start volunteering in the hospital but still require some work experience to write abt
@@Akira12364 what year are you in
@@revision2406 hi sorry for the late reply currently I am in year 12
I found your videos to be very informative for clear clarification upon how a person can draft their own Persnal Statement.
Amazing content, this gave me a better insight on what I should include and emphasise, thanks for that!

Great video!!
is it important to include names of work experience and volunteering organisations that you took part in? Or does it make a difference compared to not including the names?
Wow! It was extremely helpful!
Hi I heard that Nottingham no longer uses personal statement when giving interviews, is this true? Thank you
In MMI interviews would they ask about the personal statement?
@HMZ certain universities like Bart's use personal statement in mmi interviews. You can check it on different University sites. You can also watch this channel - journey2med as she shares how Bart's used her personal statement during the interview.
Depends on the med school

its called notability
its only available on the app store
Correct me If I am wrong, but I believe Edinburgh no longer score the personal statement for selection for interview. Rather it is made up of academic achievement and UCAT score.
do you need to meet any requirement to enter UCAT test?
No
@@UltimateGaming5645 no

I need a suggestion regarding my personal statement. Basically i am interested to apply in 2 programs. For the first program personal statement section is optional and on the other hand it is mandatory for the 2nd program. So if i write my personal statement focusing only on my 2nd program, will it be a wise decision or should I write about both of the programs?
Thanks for your attention.
I have the exact same issue plz let me know when u find out or if u have already thanks
lmao using this as a base for an engineering personal statement.😱
