Hey , can you make a video about your Medicine interview experience e.g. at Cambridge. Also what do you think were the main factors that made you get in the second time round. Thanks
Hey Pierre! I talk about my medicine interview experiences in one of my earlier videos th-cam.com/video/rZrofVb67PY/w-d-xo.html. Hmm, I would say 1. very high UKCAT score 2. increased experience in the medical field gained over the years 3. my ability to perform well in interviews. Also as a side note, I just wanted to get into medical school more than ever and I spent the better part of 8 months studying day in and day out (I'm talking 6-8h a day) on all aspects of the UK and Canadian med school applications with little time for anything else. It was a big sacrifice but worth it in the end 😊
no worries! No I didn't. My sister studied in Cambridge so I had visited multiple times and realized I was destined to be in a big city! Second time I really wanted to be in LDN because that is also where my sister works and all my friends are! I was willing to go to Bristol thought because I really liked the school and I thought I would be able to fit into the semi-big city well!
Hello, I didn't get into any medschools this year either and I'm planning on doing a molecular biology and genetics major in METU. I am wondering what I should do during these 4 years to get into a medschool in UK?
Hey there glad you liked it! That is a pretty difficult question to answer now over text. I plan to make an entire video series on all the most common interview questions so it will come soon! But until then, there really isn't one right answer. The correct way to go about this is to soul search deep within you and actually realize why you want to! It doesn't have to be something profound but it needs to be true to you. And then you can talk about how your life experiences built upon that reason or how that reason caused you to go out and find or encounter life experiences that solidified your reasons for you. Something like that!
just got rejected uCL pre interview. Waiting for cmabirgde rejection on 25th Jan. Afraid that I won't get in remaining 2 as well. However, I feel that this may really give me an opportunity to re evaluate
I want to apply for GEM and I am also considering to apply King’s College but also in Warwick, Southampton and Queen Mary’s. I read the entry requirements for GEM in King’s is 2:1 in a science degree and they take into account the UKCAT. GCSEs and A-levels are not taken into account for GEM according to the entry requirements website. Is this really true ?
Your videos are so helpful! I’m currently studying biomed and will be going into final year in September! I’ll be doing UKCAT over the summer, but do you have any tips for writing a strong personal statement? I’m hoping to do dentistry at kings 😊 thank you x
You spoke about not studying only the sciency subjects. I asked SO many people what the best choices would be for A level and everyone said ‘just do the sciences’. I’m starting sixth form next Tuesday with Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love STEM but I’d probably love RS or something along those lines too. I have done a wide range of subjects at GCSE (I’ve got 11 GCSEs) - I can elaborate on this if it helps. But do I need to carry on this variation to A level as well? Also I’m doing an EPQ not sure what about 🤷🏽♀️ Help?
Hey! Check what subjects are REQUIRED by universities to apply to medicine and 100% do those. Then there are subjects like math and physics which can help improve your application if you do well in them as it shows a different kind of thinking. Other than that do something that interests you and do well in it. After all, you have to score highly in your A levels to apply for med so do something you know you can do well in! I don't know what RS or EPQ are?

Kharma Medic RS is Religious Studies - you may have heard people refer to it as RE. EPQ is the Extended Project Qualification whereby you have to write (1000 words or so I think) about your own research regarding a topic that interests you. Gives you something to show your passion about, something to write about in your PS and refer to in your interview
@@SanaKhan-wf4ec Hi Sana, Sorry to butt into your conversation but I thought I should let you know that you can chose RS as your 4th subject if your school allows you to take 4. With the new A level reforms most schools have scrapped external AS exams and only allow students to do 3 subjects from the beginning but from the sound of it your school is letting you do 4. In this case if they allow you to drop it at the end of year 12 (unless you wish to carry on with 4) it would not be a problem. I did Bio Chem Maths and RS for AS, dropped RS at A2 and also did the EPQ. Totally workable combination.
Hania Arain No need to say sorry sis, I need guidance from anyone who can offer it to me through their experience! I’ve been told that Further Maths is really hard but my dilemma is that I really love Maths. I guess I want to attempt it and see how hard it is for myself. Would you suggest I do a 5 subject thing with RS just to check it out for a while or just leave it as a back up option if Further Maths doesn’t suit me?
Hi Miranda! That's a good question and honestly I wish I knew! My best guesses would be my average UKCAT score (probably the biggest factor) followed by my personal statement and international student status. But honestly who knows. It's so competitive and there are so few spots sometimes it doesn't work out!
Hey there man! I’ve sat my Scottish highers and are preparing for my UKCAT super early as I think I’m booking for sometime in September! Aside from academics I’m taking part in duke of Edinburgh, volunteering at a care home and carrying out duties as being head boy. Is there any other little things you would suggest I take part in or take up over the summer?, great video as always by the way!
Hi Taylor :) It sounds like you are doing a good amount of extracurriculars. The only thing I would suggest is to maybe read some medicine related books to give yourself a better understanding of what being a doctor might be like ('doing right' is ethics focused and very good, 'when breath becomes air' is an amazing recounting of experiences by a neurosurgeon). Reading books like this can better prepare you for the interview when the time comes. Also just speak to doctors if you can about their work, why they enjoy it, any downsides, etc..! Lastly, find anything you enjoy doing, and just do it consistently. WHen it comes time for interviews or writing your PS, you'll be able to reflect on it well and with passion! Enjoy your summer :)
Hi! I’m a high schooler, a found my new passion in the medical field. I’m based in Scotland, Edinburgh and apparently in the Dundee it’s ranked as #1, however I’m really intrigued about Kings College. Scotland’s Unis are free, so is it worth it paying for Kings college? Is kings college have the best outcome? Are satisfied with your time in kings college? What is your or other people opinion? Thank you 😊
I didn't do amazing on my GCSEs ( A* 7As few Bs ) and only realised part way through AS exams that I wanted to become a doctor, will I still get into medical school?
Hey man! I’m applying to graduate medicine and I’m a EU citizen but finished undergrad in the USA. I have everything ready or in the process but I don’t know what to do with a levels. I don’t have IB so what are my options will I have to take them now? Even after I have a BA in biochemistry?
Hey man great video! I have a predicted 42 in the IB with 7s in all three sciences and I was planning to apply to those exact unis. Your grades were above the cut-off for all of them so do you know if there was a major factor as to why you were rejected from the first three unis? I mean I know that your ukcat scores were avg but anything else your application was lacking in?
Hey Zain, thank you so much :) Congrats on the prediction, that's amazing! That's a good question... and to be honest, although i believe my UKCAT played a very large role, looking back on it my PS might have been too cheesy or surface level. It didn't express an ideal understanding of what being a doctor would be like, nor did I explain my motivations well. And after those two things sometimes it's just down to luck. I really believe that since there are so many applicants with such great grades and experiences, sometimes even if you are a good candidate you just won't make it for whatever reason and I think that's pretty unfair but sometimes that is the reality of it! Regardless, you put yourself in the best possible position you can to increase your chances, and then the rest is up to chance!
Kharma Medic Would you believe a UCAT score of 620 alongside a BAND 1 in SJ would be fine. I’m not applying to prestigious unis, but do you think the band 1 will have a major impact
hello! i was wondering what subjects you did for IB? Also , is IB considered as A levels? like instead of doing AS ( which im currently doing ) and A2 would IB count as the same and is only a one year course? thank you in advance!❤
Well there are a lot more places to apply to in the UK so a lot more choice. We have only 5 medical schools in Ireland and each uni has about 50 places for irish students and the rest is reserved for international students. I also found the UCAT much easier than the HPAT but that’s just me personally, it might not be the same for everyone. We also don’t have personal statements or interviews. Everything is based on your academic performance and the HPAT whereas in the UK your non academics matter a lot more. Hope this helps anyone who wants this information :)
Hey Amina! Yeah for sure :) At the end of the day, the exact work experience you do isn't the most important. It is what you take away from it. If you can't get an amazing shadow placement following a surgeon or a highly sought after hospital volunteering position, don't worry. Yes it is great to do something like that so you can a) show your dedication to the field but b) realize yourself your motivations for medicine and whether it is for you or not. The important thing is that in whatever work experience you end up doing, you will have experiences and gain skills that are directly translatable to being a doctor or the field of medicine. Don't restrict yourself to a hospital-centric work experience :) If that is what you are looking for because you enjoy it so much, reach out to your GP, your local hospital, and see if they have any volunteering you can do! It's a good place to start
What not to do? Write at the top of the application that you're in it for the money? That Joseph Mengeler is a source of inspiration to you? That really you don't care about patients because you just want to be a surgeon?
There's a lot, go to medic portal they have great advice. Similarly if you go to the UCAT website and go to the Medical Schools and how they use the UCAT page, you can find links to the uni sites which will give you information as to how they use the UCAT
Hey! I actually have no idea. It likely changes year to year and depends on how competetive the applications are. You need to do some solid research to make sure you apply to the right uni's based on your application strengths and weaknesses. Maybe call up the uni and ask? Also search google for info given out based on the freedom of information act. Good luck!
amazing tips to take care of and a really helpful video do you have any idea of what an average score would be requiredfor ukcat to get into university of edinburgh, do they even consider the ukcat when looking at which students should be selected.
Thanks Aditya! I have no idea! What is considered a competitive score changes each year. You need to do thorough research to make sure you know where you are applying !
I think I'm only going to apply to one elite med school and then apply to other ones that aren't "pristeige" cause let's be honest elite med schools are more expensive anyway.
Whata are you on? Lol! This guy is highly successful if anyones unsuccessful its you lol and noone that tries to bring others down without proper proof is successful. Put that jn your scrawny little head dude im sure you can do it. The only way to become successful is you have to fail sometimes. But you wouldnt know since all you know how to do is fail and dont learn. Dumbass
Wait, so u did not apply for medical school right after passing high school??????........ Sorry if I'm bothering you but I'm binge watching your videos right now & commented on them....... I'm not stalking you 😂😂😂😅
Actually i am 17 year old and when i came uk i was 14 i didn't get admission 2 year i am just at hoem last year i call in every school again so they know she is 16 she shuld be in collage so i just take health and social care. Know after one year of social care i am doing work experience volunteering at hospital she tell me that you can do gcse privately. Your video really motivate me to take gcse. Please tell me which gcse subject needed for medical i mean must gcse for medical. If i don't take physics in hcse is it ok
Hi I know this is late however I am hoping you can reply, I can only apply to university of Warwick graduate entry this year and will this be ok to only apply for the one university with UCAS? No one talks about this. 🥺 I know I will be putting all my eggs in one basket however I am a single mum and I can not go too far out of my area so Coventry is perfect for that, I don’t have the required a levels to get into UNiversity of Birmingham but I will work on getting them if this year doesn’t go well and everywhere else is too far, I considered Nottingham however it is GAmSAT and i feel it is just way too overwhelming for me to study for when it is such a closed off secretive exam to study for and you have to know so many subjects quite well. So yeh, Warwick seems to be my only choice and I know that is a massive long shot, is it allowed to just put one choice on your UCAS? Thank you 🙏🏻
Hello, im from Poland and i want to study medicine in UK. Right Now im in 2 class high school. I want to write on polish ,,Matura” 3 A levels. Chemistry, Biology and English. And i’v got a question. Im not really good at maths or physics so that’s why I’m choosing English as my third A level. Do I still have a chance to get to any medical school with those 3 A levels?
Hi. my gcses got cancelled and i got predicted instead which were passes. do you think that would ruin my chances to get into medicine even if i get good a levels?

I really want to get medicine I’m scared I’m so anxious about not getting in cause I don’t want to do anything else do u have any advice
Hey Ariyibi 🙂
Do some good solid research so you know all the different steps of the application and then just work on them one by one. You can do it!
your voice so so soooooo sweet 😍
just got rejected uCL pre interview. Waiting for cmabirgde rejection on 25th Jan. Afraid that I won't get in remaining 2 as well. However, I feel that this may really give me an opportunity to re evaluate
good luck! keep going. you got this!
Are 5A*s and 3As and a B
If I get a 45 on IB and excel at extracurricular then can I get in(also if I get exceptional bmat/ucat scores
Hey just a question about kcl- does it use the SJT part of the ucat for making offers /interviews ..?
Can't remember off the top of my head! Check the website 🙂
If it says it on the website it's probably true. Call them to double check !
Did you get student loan twice ? Please answer
I did not take out a student loan in the UK. I am ineligible as I am an international student.
Your videos are so helpful! I’m currently studying biomed and will be going into final year in September! I’ll be doing UKCAT over the summer, but do you have any tips for writing a strong personal statement? I’m hoping to do dentistry at kings 😊 thank you x
Thank you 😊 Yeah I have a couple of videos about it on the channel, check them out! Good luck in your exams 👌🏼
Kharma Medic thanks so much!
Also I’m doing an EPQ not sure what about 🤷🏽♀️
Help?

Hi Sana,
Sorry to butt into your conversation but I thought I should let you know that you can chose RS as your 4th subject if your school allows you to take 4.

No need to say sorry sis, I need guidance from anyone who can offer it to me through their experience!
Why do you think you got rejected from 3 medical schools without having an interview?
Hi Miranda!
That's a good question and honestly I wish I knew! My best guesses would be my average UKCAT score (probably the biggest factor) followed by my personal statement and international student status. But honestly who knows. It's so competitive and there are so few spots sometimes it doesn't work out!
Thank you for your reply! :)
Miranda Piana of course!
What would you consider as safe choices?
Can I do medicine with my IGCSE results?
Hey i would like to ask where would you apply with 3As in A levels and a UCAT score of 660. Thanks in advance

Can anyone tell me which unis don't really focus on ucat I beg someone answers me
Okay so I can’t handle pressurised limited timed exams and interviews 😭 but I’m smart
Thank you 😊
Hi did you sit gamsat?
Were you in STEM High School or boarding or public or private ?
If you are an international student, do you have to take the ukcat?
I didn't do amazing on my GCSEs ( A* 7As few Bs ) and only realised part way through AS exams that I wanted to become a doctor, will I still get into medical school?
Definitely enough for a lot of medical schools (e.g. Sheffield, Nottingham ect.). If you really want to do medicine then go for it!!@
@@da14a49 thank you so much!!
After getting your degree from Canada did you get a job on the basis of that degree and worked while studying medicine?
you're amazing!!! any chance at acing the UCAT in 7 days?
Lol
lol seven hours of constant practice for 6 days should be ok i guess
leave the last day for a rest
Is getting into med schools in Ireland harder than in UK?
I haven't had a look at the admission statistics but I imagine they are both difficult and competitive. 🙂
Do u have any advice on what work experience I should do??
It's a good place to start
wait so in the uk you can just apply to med school straight out of high school with no undergrad eduction..?? That is absolutely bizarre
That's right 🙂
You look a lot like Karen Kachanov!
I just googled him, not sure I see it but I think thank you? 😂
What not to do? Write at the top of the application that you're in it for the money? That Joseph Mengeler is a source of inspiration to you?
That really you don't care about patients because you just want to be a surgeon?
does anyone know which medical dental unis dont look at gcses or focus on them that much
Did u get some unis... i want to know the same thingg
There's a lot, go to medic portal they have great advice. Similarly if you go to the UCAT website and go to the Medical Schools and how they use the UCAT page, you can find links to the uni sites which will give you information as to how they use the UCAT
Which part is mentioning iGcses?
Are you Dutch?
When u do btec so there’s Like 2 choices for me...
Hi kharma medic, do you have an idea of the cut off threshold UkCAt score for the graduate medicine course (A102) at Kings? I have heard mixed things
Hey! I actually have no idea. It likely changes year to year and depends on how competetive the applications are. You need to do some solid research to make sure you apply to the right uni's based on your application strengths and weaknesses. Maybe call up the uni and ask? Also search google for info given out based on the freedom of information act. Good luck!
amazing tips to take care of and a really helpful video
do you have any idea of what an average score would be requiredfor ukcat to get into university of edinburgh, do they even consider the ukcat when looking at which students should be selected.
Thanks Aditya! I have no idea! What is considered a competitive score changes each year. You need to do thorough research to make sure you know where you are applying !
thanks
Hey, can you help with the personal statement?
You are I like ATP for me.😉😉
As well as help in refreshing mood
How if i don't have IGCSE's ?
Hi, are there students who start med school at the age of 21? I am from Singapore so I have to do 2 years of military service after high school.
I think I'm only going to apply to one elite med school and then apply to other ones that aren't "pristeige" cause let's be honest elite med schools are more expensive anyway.
Never take advice from a failure only a successful person and you will have success so not even gonna listen to you. The title was enough
he’s a medic studying at kcl, i’m sure he’s successful my friend
Whata are you on? Lol! This guy is highly successful if anyones unsuccessful its you lol and noone that tries to bring others down without proper proof is successful. Put that jn your scrawny little head dude im sure you can do it. The only way to become successful is you have to fail sometimes. But you wouldnt know since all you know how to do is fail and dont learn. Dumbass
Wait, so u did not apply for medical school right after passing high school??????........
Sorry if I'm bothering you but I'm binge watching your videos right now & commented on them....... I'm not stalking you 😂😂😂😅
I applied in 2013 after highschool and 2017 after my first degree 🙂

I thought Persian too, lol.
If you do an undergraduate degree how many years does it take or will it be until you can apply for medical school
Which UK unis care the least about IGCSE
Actually i am 17 year old and when i came uk i was 14 i didn't get admission 2 year i am just at hoem last year i call in every school again so they know she is 16 she shuld be in collage so i just take health and social care. Know after one year of social care i am doing work experience volunteering at hospital she tell me that you can do gcse privately. Your video really motivate me to take gcse. Please tell me which gcse subject needed for medical i mean must gcse for medical. If i don't take physics in hcse is it ok
can someone tell me what is the IGCSE's?
thanks
What advice do you have about personal statements for medicine?
I've got an entire video on the PS! You can find it here 😊 th-cam.com/video/6aVHN9KAmmg/w-d-xo.html&frags=pl%2Cwn
What was your fifth choice?
Thank you 🙏🏻
So you applied to medical school twice?
That's right! 2013 and 2017!
Aleksander Strzyzewski yes
Hi. my gcses got cancelled and i got predicted instead which were passes. do you think that would ruin my chances to get into medicine even if i get good a levels?
Nope just work hard 😁
