Do you have to win the essays and competitions in order to talk about them- also how would the medical schools know about all the extra/super curriculars done

not at all! doing the work is the good bit! you’d put them in your personal statement using the STAR method - check out my video on personal statements :)

If you are planning of applying to british medical universities, then you must take the UCAT or BMAT. However, other countries do not require the UCAT examination or the BMAT. It depends on which country you are applying to, and this video only talks specifically about people apply to UK universities.
Also, the procedure varies from country to country, so other countries may not require personal statements or volunteering, etc. It depends on which country you want to study in.

I am almost in year 12 and have no extra curriculars, super curriculars, no work experience or volunteering. Should I rethink applying to medicine or maybe choose a different country to apply to? Ive been emailing hospitals and looking everywhere for months to find any experience but I’ve found none. Im seriously considering giving up and becoming a cashier or something. Feels like everybody got a summer job except for me.

i am in year 12 and i also have nothing at the moment but that doesnt mean to give up my chem teacher asked if any of us want to volunteer with her to teach younger years, and i think you can also do this, which you can consider as volunteering as of super curriculars u can join any club at school and try and really take part in it. If finding work experience is a struggle dont worry there are plenty of online work experience try medic mentors which i know did online work experience if you apply with them. I know it is hard but definitely do not give up!

The amount of supercurricular, extracurriculars snd volunterting touvr done makes me want to give up 😳

No one else I know did this much! It also balanced out the fact I didn’t do much work experience because I didn’t know anyone who worked in the medical field. I’m sure if you follow the steps you can have just as much too :)
