There have been 13 trades in NFL history in which a team traded away the first overall pick in the NFL Draft. And in each instance, these trades wound up altering the NFL landscape one way or another.
For this list, we’re ranking all 13 trades involving the first overall pick in NFL history. The rankings are based on the impact that the deal had on both teams and the NFL in general. So let’s get right to it!

You missed two trades involving the #1 overall pick: 1983 and 2004. The Colts had the #1 overall pick in 1983 (they drafted John Elway who had no intention of signing with them) and traded with the Broncos. One of the pieces the Colts got in that deal was Chris Hinton. In 2004, the Chargers had the #1 overall pick (they drafted Eli Manning who like Elway before him had no intention of signing with the team that drafted him) and traded with the Giants (who drafted Philip Rivers who was part of that trade).
I think this was a list of trades that were made before the picks were announced.

Bears definitely won the blockbuster trade over the Panthers especially because they added another receiver target for Justin Fields and they’re having quite the offseason they desperately needed!
Too early to say that, what if the Panthers QB becomes an incredible player and Fields flames out in the coming years?? It's all going to come down to how good the respective QBs will be and no one knows that yet.
The Panthers added Thielen and Chark already to Marshall. All they need to do now is draft another receiver in the second or third round. The Bears still in trouble defensively. I like the Panthers in this deal.
The Titans got Jack Conklin,Derrick Henry,Kevin Byard,Corey Davis,Adoree Jackson,Jayon Brown,all center around that trade w/ the Rams..we done good
The Goff trade went well for both teams because Stafford got his ring. Goff lead the Lions to there first playoff win since 1991 against Stafford’s Rams at home. He also lead the Lions to there second NFC Championship since the post Super Bowl era.

People are balking at including DJ Moore in the trade to the Bears. A franchise QB is the most valuable thing in the NFL, way more important than a WR.The value of this trade depends entirely on how Carolina develops Stroud or Young..

Panthers did lose stud DJ Moore, but in their offseason they did sign Miles Sanders, Adam Thielen, and DJ Chark. None of these guys are even close to Moore and all three probably won’t match Moore’s production. But given the great year Miles is coming off, chark’s potential, and Adam Thielen veteran experience I think the offense is more well rounded with a 1st overall qb and multiple good weapons as opposed to only 1 elite weapon on offense. Still was a tough price to pay to get the 1st overall pick

Yes I hope this goes down as a cautionary tale after the Panthers suck their way to next year’s #1 pick and the Bears either set at QB w/ Fields can get a much better haul for better QB prospects in Edwards/Maye or if Fields isn’t the guy get either Edwards/Maye and finally have a franchise QB for the 1st time, in, ever…

Unless the bears really mess up, it's hard to think they didn't win the trade. Young/Stroud (who ever they pick) are gonna have to be elite
It's too early to judge it. I might be biased as a panthers fan but it's going to take at least a couple of seasons to see how much success fields has with the bears vs how much success panthers have with their QB drafted this year. The bears are definitely set up better with the amount of picks they got but we have to see whether that leads to actual success (ex playoff wins, winning seasons, etc)
@niirvash as a bears fan, if fields fails, we have two 1st round draft picks, and a few 2nd round draft picks to trade for a qb next year if we want to. I totally see where you're coming from, honestly I want nothing for the best for the panthers. But with how much cap space we had/have, it's hard to think that the bears lost this trade at all. I truly hope young/stroud gets yall a super bowl though.

Unlike vick...LaDainian Tomlinson was the crowd jewel of the chargers team from day one the 5th overall pick out of TCU was a true player one of a kind running back was lightning in a bottle 2006 MVP with a NFL record 31 touchdowns in a season it is unmistakable of how the Texas native was so awesome without a doubt LT is a real man and a masterpiece of what a player should be
