@brianmerrell2114 Nick doesn't know what he's talking about. In the NFL, when you have a QB that is at least good, you have to keep him. He underestimates how hard it is to find quality QB play in the NFL let alone elite QB play. If you spend your time moving on from good QBs because they aren't elite you aren't gonna have any success in the NFL.
I hate to do it but I gotta agree with Nick and don't understand why the others don't. Their argument is "yeah Tua's not that great but with these teammates he is".... But when you pay him $50 million a year, you won't have those great teammates, then you're stuck with Tua who's not that great.
Nick is actually right on this one. For Wildes to say not everyone can beat the good teams is ridiculous. When you’re a contender and you get to the playoffs you have to beat good teams it’s not optional. Also all of the other great AFC teams outside of Houston are cold come playoff time KC, BUF, BAL, CIN, CLE, NYJ
It's not like the AFC matters considering none of the good teams can beat KC anyway so really what's the difference? Lamar Jackson has only 2 playoff wins in 6 years, he's not beating the good teams either lol and Josh Allen can't beat the Chiefs even though he's has many opportunities to do so. It's a moot point and since when were Cleveland and the Jets good?
@@Rromantiq well for one they are in the same division as the Bills so that matters they have to see them twice a season. Winning the division can get the Dolphins to avoid the Chiefs for at least the wild card round. If the Dolphins want to avoid the cold they will have to get the 1st seed. The Jets had one of the better defenses but terrible QB play same thing with Browns. All they need is for Aaron Rodgers & Deshaun Watson to be better than Zach Wilson & Joe Flacco I don’t think that asking for much. Plus the Browns will be getting back Nick Chubb who is a top 5 RB in the league.
Tua definitely earned the money. He’s not a market reset QB but his numbers and steady growth year to year despite having multiple injuries on both sides of the ball on the Dolphins as well as himself. The fact is there is no QB out there better than him and the ones who are proven to be better aren’t leaving their teams for the Dolphins. And when I say proven better I mean Mahones, Allen, Lamar, Stafford, and maybe Rodgers. The rest are a toss up at this point.
The Bills are 3-1 vs KC in the regular season vs Mahomes, with most of those games at KC. The Chiefs are just better in the playoffs (3-0) vs Buffalo. People burying Buffalo for dead is ridiculous and even Wright, who is a Bills hater, can acknowledge that.
This is the exact reason that Nick is right. It's not about whether or not they should have re-signed him, it's about whether or not they are paying him more than his worth.
Lmfao yall seriously need to stop piggybacking what these media heads say. Most do 0 reashearch. All they know about Tua is stats and his concussion. Very few actually watched him play more than 2 games. Tuas top 5 in 95% of the good QB stats many of which he's #1-2. Teams def would pay for him. To think otherwise proves you know nothing about football
Its a great deal. If he leads the leagues in passing again this year youd have to pay him top of the marker. This not a bad deal at all. Tuas a good quarterback.
@@relativityventures1878 tua is the only one of those 3 to have a full consistent season at QB. Both love and Lawrence have had half a season’s worth of bad football.

Lmfao his singing freed up money. And the stats say he's at worst top 5. . Come live in reality for a bit I know it sucks but it's better than looking foolish
I 100% agree with Nick on this one. When you have a quarterback, whose physically limited in the skill set, you have to have a formidable team around that player in order to go anywhere. I know a lot of people are going to come at Nick because this is a complete 180 on his take about the Trevor Lawrence deal. However, in his defense, the Trevor deal was more about upside and expectation, rather than what he’s already done. People are expecting Lawrence to eventually become a top-5 QB so they wanted to pay him now before the price tag goes too high. The Tua deal is a little different because of how limited he is physically. When it comes to having upside, Tua it’s not that guy. Unless he learns how to read defenses like Peyton Manning, he has already hit his ceiling more than likely. So a deal like this is going to do more harm than good, because you’re not gonna have the salary cap to put the needed players around him, for the Dolphins to win long-term. They’re going to have to pay Brock Purdy after this upcoming season so we’re probably going to see the same thing in San Francisco down the road 🤷🏾♂️.
Tua is better than Lawrence so far. Purdy is superior to both of them anyway and will get paid more. I don't give AF about ceilings when you don't play to it.
i get what you’re saying but i think you’re wrong about your conclusion of tua, and as a collective i think most of us are a bit wrong about lawrence. I think because of how fast mahomes and brady took off as players, people fail to realize how long it typically takes/should take for a rookie qb to develop into a good one. You had guys like drew brees who got traded to the saints after four years and peyton manning who took 6 years to win a single playoff game and even jordan love who wasn’t even a starter for 3 years who finally got a chance any had a decent amount of success. Most qbs are going to and should be given time and proper tutelage in the nfl in order to redeem success. Additionally, because every guy has a different set of skills, having a coach who’s able to hone and improve on those skills is vital to getting that player where you want them. Even still, Tom brady wasn’t exactly the best of qbs until moss arrived, a highly skilled WR who taught him how to be a better passer and instead of always relying on a good defensive, the patriots offense was soon able to take off and improve vastly now brady was able to use the knowledge he gained from moss onto new receivers later in his career. The same happened with Curt Warner, he played with HOF Wrs in LA (i forget their names) and they helped him utilize his skillset into methods of an elite quarterback which he was then able to instill into a young larryfitgerald and cardinals receiving core later in his career. My point being, Tua may have been trash his whole career, or he may had been good, what i do know is that during his first two years, the tenure of his career was highly faulted in the fact he was never given a proper chance to opportunity to utilize his skills, whatever they may be good at. However when a head coach came by that did find a way to use those skills effectively, it showed the league just exactly how dangerous the dolphins may be. And now Reek is able to help him learn how to he a better qb too because elite talent rubs off and having people around you aiming to make you better or showcase your strengths (mike mccdaniel) will do just that. Having such a skilled guy like tyreek is going (and already has) made tua such a better qb and the same can be said about Trevor Lawrence and Doug Peterson who proved to be leaguess better than when the first HC was around. (i forgot his name) Both trevor and tua have their problems however, (turnovers-size/strength) and it might be fair to say either flaw could be a weakness that keeps them out of being a “good” or “elite” quarterback, but what both players have proven is that under a head coach that supports them, a team rallied behind them, and at proper health; their franchises believe they’re the future and their contracts are the biggest proofs of such. sorry for the ramble, idk if anyone will even read this lol
Not really, Tua was just the next man up. This contract won't even be talked about come this time next year when other quarterbacks get paid. Stafford, Cousins, Murray, Goff ect. were never top 5 quarterbacks at the time they got paid and Tua is without a doubt a better quarterback than Lawrence right now that's not even debatable
@@thelaseringtrespiker4006 That was a good read bro and what you said makes a lot of sense. But I don’t necessarily thing I’m wrong about Tua. I prefer him over Trevor up to this point. But even with as good as he’s been so far, he’s not a player who can necessarily “win with less”. Neither of them are right now, but Trevor’s “pedigree” and physical capabilities gives teams a higher expectation on his future than Tua has which is why there’s not a lot of flack oh his deal in comparison. Personally, I don’t like the Lawrence deal either but I get it. They both woulda got a Baker Mayfield deal outa me 😂🤷🏾♂️. Going back to Tua tho, at this point in his career, he’s not cerebrally advanced enough as a quarterback to produce at a high level without a lot of firepower around him. I feel like this contract is gonna pin them in a corner because when the bill comes due they won’t have enough to pay it and with this contract, I think the bill comes before Tua is mentally ready. And even when he is, the lack of physical ability makes me unsure he’ll good enough to be an equalizer.
Dolphins… are a great team, but in cold or bad weather their offense can’t do much.. tua puts up big numbers against cupcake teams. Nick has been spoiled by Patrick Mahomes. Tua is the best QB the Dolphins have had since Dan Marino retired almost a quarter century ago. The last couple years have been their most relevant in a while. Tua isn’t too 5 but he’s clearly a good QB and he didn’t reset the market with his contract. This is a good deal for Miami.

Greg and Wildes completely missed the point which is once you pay Tua big bucks you will lose the Tyreek hills and waddles and the team overall will get worse and Tua is not that caliber of a player to make up for the losses and elevate others
@dabigplaya55 who cares? All that means is that the gm needs to step up and sign and draft good players. The alternative to that doesn't make any sense. Which is move on, and hope you can find a good enough QB to utilize those weapons otherwise you are just wasting them.
Incorrect actually. These media head do this for shock value. They know that a team will give a guy a huge signing bonus and lower his cap hit for the first year or 2 and if they want to extend the windows they give an extension where they give another larger signing bonus add more years and spread the money out making the cap his less of a issue. That's why Tua for the next 2 seasons actual cap hit is quite low and very manageable. Tyreke will most likely get another extension and Waddle was just signed. You don't know how contracts work fam. Miami will be able to keep the players they want. It's a non issue
Good point but there’s nobody better available. And any trade would involve Tyreek or waddle with a lot of dead money. So you either sign Tua to a market value contract. Or you lose Tua for a worse quarterback but saved yourself some money
And Nick's isnt? lol Only thing he gets right is the Chiefs which is nothing to brag about since The Chiefs literally the favorites as long as Mahomes is QB lol. Have you heard his takes on Trevor Lawrence??? lol
This is one time I actually agree with Nick. If you don't think that Tua can eventually be a top 5 QB just in the AFC, you shouldn't be paying him $50 million a year. You trade or let him play out his contract, then draft a QB and hopefully he turns out to be elite. You shouldn't be signing a QB to huge money if you don't think he can win a SB, and Tua can't win a SB.
So who’s the other option, though? Who should they have gone and gotten to take advantage of having Tyreek and Waddle on the payroll? If some no name rookie shows up who can’t play, Tyreek is leaving. McDaniels likes the way Tua operates his offense, and there’s no guarantee that a new QB would run it the same. So what should they have done??

I do find it amusing that Nick wants to put all the blame on Tua & not one the devastated offensive line or defense. Tua's deal is 11th in the league in terms of % of cap. It's not some massive overpay that's going to be overly burdensome in the next few years. Is Tua elite? No. Does he PRODUCE like an elite QB in this system currently? Yes. He obviously still needs to improve, but how about we give a relatively young guy coming off his first full year as a starter a little bit more time to develop. I think it's okay for the dolphins to go in on a 4-year window with Tua & this core. If it doesn't work out by year 4, his contract might even look tradable after the cap has gone up another 25%.

The Jets had one of the better defenses but terrible QB play same thing with Browns. @@gr3415top 5 qbs have at least one playoff win,
I 100% agree with Nick on this one.
@@JeraldP-c9x So what's the alternative then?

@@sarahandbrettSCAMlmfao not facts. Go look at his career and see if those idiotic narratives actually apply or if they only apply to last season 😂😂😂
How do you argue against Tua and point out every limitation you can find but, effortlessly give Lawrence a pass - regularly- and continue to to about "potential". If Lawrence had a statistical season like Tua, most people would not give him flack for thar exaggerated contract he just stole. Nick's goal-post moving passion is something that has to be studied.
Paying him all that money to get blown out by the bills 😂
That whole 7 points huh
Everything comes to an end. Miami dominated the Bills for 12 years until it stopped. This will end too. If the fins don't have key injuries last year they win the division and #1 seed. thye have improved the team across the board except for 2 positions. Brace yourselves Bills fans, you're in for a rude awakening...
@@theragingdolphinsmaniac4696 you sound dumb !! I get you riding with your team but nothing has changed ! The bills don’t have any key injuries , we are healthy and stronger than last year ! Yall signed shaq to help with the pass rush , because there’s no depth there , Yall have rookies starting ,you lost your entire offensive line, tua getting paid is taking from the ppl they could sign or pay ! Words from a 40 yr old dolphins fan “ WE ARE IN TROUBLE “
@@theragingdolphinsmaniac4696 the lolphins had a 3 game lead , Yall aren’t build for the playoff or etc .. ALL THAT SPEED JUST TO LOSE THE DIVISION
@theragingdolphinsmaniac4696 it's nice to still have hopes and dreams
Nick looks like the bad guy from Harry Potter
In 2yrs this is gonna seem like a bargain. Fins up 🐬!
Another 20 years of no playoff wins
