The answer, after owning all three. Bronco Raptor is the funnest overall if you want to take the top off. It’s also probably the best and only one that can do the rubicon stock without the much damage and then go do Baja afterward. The f150 gen 3 on 37s was the most lux. By far the quietest and incredibly rowdy doing Baja stuff. It’s not the best daily though. Unless you like not fitting well in the lanes on the highway or in any parking spot that exists. The Ranger raptor is the best all rounder, super fun to do some Baja stuff, really decent rock crawler, despite the 33s. It’s also by far the best deal. Still does just enough truck stuff for me, and is a hoot to drive as a daily. Out of the 3 if I could only own one it would be Raptor Ranger hands down.
Bronco raptor starts at 116,500 f150 raptor 109,500 and ranger raptor 80,500 CANADIAN. Now I make 6 figures and my wife is close to that and I still feel these are ridiculous prices compared to just 4-5 years ago. I appreciate the videos but find myself less and less interested in watching them due to the prices. I don’t think I’m the only one that feels this way.
I’m lucky that I make enough to buy all three of these with cash, but I can understand it being aggravating for those in the lower income range to not be able to afford brand new things. However, I spent decades in that same boat, and I found happiness in being used things instead.
I agree , the Ranger Raptor is a better everyday vehicle. . For the must part the new midsize pick up truck is a better option for off-road. Great video
I have owned a 150 Raptor. Loved it. I have owned a Wildtrak Bronco. Meh. I test drove the Ranger Raptor last night. Oh man, what a hoot. Great power, handling, gadgets galore (you owe it to yourselves to test one in Baja mode!) Ranger Raptor is a gem.
I wanted a RR but when looking at the F150 Raptor used market I found my old 2019 Raptor. I had to sell it a year ago because finances but my finances are fixed and I bought it back. 100%, no regrets. As someone who grew up tuning cars, I love the way the 3.5 sounds.
Couldn't agree more on the Ranger Raptor over the other two. Some ranch roads down here in South Texas are the same as far as vegetation making them narrower. And when I go to the beach, the Ranger will fit in carwashes better to rinse that salt residue off. Plus you have the bed to keep the stinky stuff in😂.
I haven't taken my RR off-road yet as I'm still in the break in period and I want to be gentle with it at first. However, I'm loving it. I do with the floor in the backseats was flat like my F150 but you can't have it all. And of course wish the lockers were a button on the dash. Come on Ford! You can't have it all.
I CANT WAIT for my ranger raptor to be built. Imo, which raptor is the hottest date? The F 150 R. Which one do you want to bring home and live with everyday? The Ranger Raptor.
If money were no object, absolutely the F150 Raptor R. But for half the price, the Ranger Raptor wins all day in my book. Although TFL did not have the F150 Raptor R very long, that is probably my most favorite truck TFL has ever had.
Turbo charged vehicles don’t lost power at the same rate as NA, that’s why they’re preferred at elevation. 30% thinner air does not mean 30% less power
Until you lose a turbo, oil line, intercooler, wastegate, etc. If you are running boost offroad as a civilian in a truck and no pit crew, it needs to be lower maintenance like a supercharger. Easier to carry and swap a belt than diagnose a boost leak or a million other issues on a turbo.
I agree with you Roman with the piano black. I will disagree with the chrome. Don't want to be around while it's made. Maybe figure a different way to make it, but as a guy who worked in the oilfield and in refineries, well we choose our paths.
When you rotate the dial to rock crawl it automatically puts on the rear locker. That's fast and easy. If you are using your front lockers so often the screen is an issue, you would have built your truck instead of bought this.
I agree with you, the width/size is an issue with the F-150 and Bronco. If you actually want to take them off-road, it's tough because most trails are tight, at least where you are and also around here in New England. I think the Ranger Raptor, Colorado ZR2, Tacoma TRD Pro, and the standard Wrangler and Bronco are all better for these trails.
It would cool if you did a KO3 vs Falken Wildpeak AT4W tire test on the Ranger Raptor. Different rock crawling levels easy, med, hard. Dry vs mud vs rain. Etc.
Bronco Raptors are selling for under MSRP and in some instances under invoice. I just got a brand new‘23 for over $7k off MSRP. Looked at a ‘24 that was just shy of $7k off.
You can also tell that the Ranger has influence from other markets from the dropout style differential it has. You will see that a lot on Toyotas and other makes, but with the exception of the Ford 9 inch, not a lot of Domestics use that style.
I was looking at Supercab Raptors for a while, just for the super short wheelbase and added maneuverability, but the width is still an issue even though the turning radius is better. They just cant fit in some places. But even the Ranger Raptor is pretty wide. Its tires and flares are as wide as a normal half ton
@@Christopher-xv9wl they made it to 2020. Very rare though. When I was looking, I think I found 2 in Utah. Cool truck but the width is insane. My normal F150 was too wide for some trails, the raptor is outrageous
The F-150, no argument there. It’s so comfortable, quiet, and efficient even on 37s. People often exaggerate how big the F150 Raptor but I live in the PNW, and I take the truck to hiking trails every weekend. 1ft of snow? No problems. Unseen big potholes? No problems. Rutted NF roads? No problems. It’s the best truck I’ve ever owned. Does it get scratched? Sure. But it’s an off-road truck. I don’t care.
Bang for the buck is clearly the Ranger, but I'm banking on the Bronco to be the most actually capable offroad just due to it's approach, departure, and break-over angles. If you're willing to get some trails stripes or mild body damage you're going to have a great time in that thing almost everywhere you go.
dollar for dollar, The Best mid sized truck out there in MHO , Period ! you want the Bison, or the Taco TRD Pro / TH, go for it,,, and then, go to the bank.
The Bronco Raptor all day, the Ranger Raptor is good but not on the level of the Bronco Raptor. I'd never pay the price of admission for the 150 Raptor R, aside from that, I'd high center that Raptor R all day long, it's way too long for any serious technical trails.
The ranger raptor is definitely the far better value proposition. The wildtrax trim option is better still for most folks, but I think you cannot get that in the states.
The ranger raptor really is the best all around raptor but my question is how does say a Ranger Lariat FX4 compare against the Raptor? The Lariat seems like the better buy if you are concerned on cost... is there any chance you can do an episode of FX4 high trim VS a Raptor? I would love to see that.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ you lose a ton of features but you pay less. If you don't mind losing live valve suspension, front locker, reinforced frame, wider stance, etc then it's probably great.
TFL has great informative videos but I have to be a bit critical on Roman stating the Ranger Raptor has 280 hp at 10,000 feet. He knows or should know the 3% loss per 1000 feet doesn’t apply to forced induction in this case turbo vehicles. Yes, depending on the turbo you can lose power but not 3% per 1000 feet. Garrett turbo has a great site called boost advisor that can tell you what is required in turbo to maintain sea level performance.
They all seem pretty nice but the wheels on the Ranger Raptor seem to be a bad choice for something you take off-road with the spokes protruding seemingly beyond the width of the tire wall.
So true this new ranger is not so special in terms of looks. But it's under the hood. Ford misses a chance to make this really really special but the engineers over in Australia missed it. Just my opinion
The raptor R has a limited slip front diff, which is best for 99.999% of performance situations. It’s not an open diff like the base or older ones. Same is true of 37 performance pack raptors
