Maybe the Hurricane, but that Cummins will run forever. This is good though if you bought an old non-running vehicle but you needed to pull it out of a lot because you couldn’t maneuver the tow vehicle and trailer down to load it directly, as most people shopping AT tires are concerned with 😉
Please explain why you would run the rope to opposite corners of the vehicles. Were you trying to throw the jeep sideways for dramatic effects or was there some other reason?
Yea, at the end of the day its more about content than actual results. Falkens are great tires in all conditions and ive seen the at4w perform great in snow on other channels
I've run two sets of the previous gen Wildpeaks on an 06 Tacoma and thought the snow performance was great. Better than the Michelin LTX M/S for sure. I wonder why the new Falkens are so bad in the snow. Heavier sidewall and a light vehicle?
Correct, they are not "bad" in the snow. Dont be discouraged from those not controlled or scientific results. It blows me that ppl are thinking they dont perform because of that 1 video. This test had a ton of variables as well. Bottom line is take it with a grain of salt. The at3s and at4ws run great on and offroad and in the snow/ice
Are there better videos directly comparing the snow and ice performance of the AT4W’s? Tyre Reviews has a video testing the AT4W’s as well, but he admitted the conditions were not ideal for controlled testing and the results were just as bad as TFL’s.
I'd like to see the snow testing done again in the early morning so that the sun doesn't affect consistency of the snow as the day wears on. Out of all the tires I've reviewed, the Falken is still hands down the best.
I have had the falken At3 and now the At4 on my Chevy 2500. The At3 was a better snow tire. The AT4 is the better dirt tire. Overall iv ben happy with falkens all terrain tires.
Nice test! I would love to do a somewhat standardized test of my Kenda Klever MT2s (on my TJ), Falken WIldpeak MTs (my JL’s stock optional tire), BFG KM3s (liked previous KMs), Nitto Trail Grapplers (I have friends who love these), and maybe some other options. Unfortunately, for most people, a test like that is impossible due to costs. Thanks for putting some TFL money towards this!
Well done, it’s hard to do. I’ve been tire testing for various manufacturers and they do put a lot of effort in to replicating scenarios. Much like the off-road coarse you have. Thanks to the bread man anyways 😎
I had the Falkens on a Nissan Frontier. Right out of the box were good. Siping was so shallow by 8000 miles were horrible in rain and snow on the road. Offroad snow was not that great.
Maybe you should try the Falkens in the load range C tire on the snow test again? An E tire for the 2 door wrangler is overkill. Understand the others are also E range but perhaps the engineering differences for the C vs E in the Falkens would make a difference on the small, lightweight wrangler? I've got C rated AT4s on my 2 door and haven't had much issue in the couple of snowfalls we've had out here on the western slope.
I still think the testing of LRE tires compromised the results. If not simply for the fact that at 36psi sidewall flex & load carrying capacity are quite different than LRC, or D tires. Yes, I understand that Falken requested you test the “E” rated, but… why test what you don’t spec?
Im trying to decide what this proves exactly. I think k you got a brilliant idea on your "cheap jeep" purchase. I was thinking jeep could save itself with a Samurai type machine back to the very basic- at $20g give or take. Doors optional!
Jeep will never do this, but I can see a motorcycle\SxS mfg doing this. A basic SxS, upgraded just enough to legally run on the highway, and with a price kept under $25k. It will be slow, loud, and uncomfortable on the highway, but that’s ok if the off road performance is excellent and it stays small enough to just tow it to the trail if it’s a longer trip. It would make a particularly good vehicle to tow behind an RV and use for local transportation when the RV is parked.
I have been watching some videos from Australia where they off-road a Suzuki Samurai. The little 4x4 is surprisingly capable, and they seem to have a lot of fun with it.
not for this situation, they aren't trying to extract from a stuck position, just move it over smooth terrain. If it was an attempt to pull the truck out of a stuck then yes, you need a run. I'm more concerned with how he just spun the tires instead of trying to maintain traction by modulating the throttle.
Imagine trying to stop near a ledge on the mountains in the snow and you fall down the cliff because it didn’t stop soon enough 😂 100’ is a big deal in snow!!! Especially with your family or loved ones on board or running into a 18wheller rear end on the road because it didn’t stop 100’ earlier 😅lol😂
The best tire I've had so far have been the Nokian Outpost nAT's. Have had KO2s, Geolandar G015s, Cooper AT3 xlt and the Wildpeaks but these have been excelent in every condition especially DD highway use.
I cant believe im gonna say this.... the wrangler 4 door is actually a better buy than the new "land cruiser".... I thought the land cruiser would offer more passenger and driver space and comfort. I was wrong... sat in one today and was shocked by how cramped I felt in the driver seat and in the second row. I am 5"11 and weigh about 200LBS on a good day. So yeah, not overweight or huge by any means. Where as in the wrangler I feel more comfrotable and have way more space for my legs and my knees dont graze against the center console unlike the Landcruisers center console.
Still no love for the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T’s! It’s the be-all end-all AT here in Central Oregon. Basically a mud terrain with a 3PMS rating and a 50k warranty. I switched from KO2’s to the Mickeys and it was a night and day difference in snow and on wet roads. Mud performance isn’t even in the same ballpark. They are constantly sold out and hard to find for a reason!
Yea I’ve been wondering the same thing, I love TFL but they always drop the ball on testing tires when they leave out the Toyos because it’s what a lot of people run including myself and I’d like to see the comparison
Having the tie strap at an angle was hurting the Wrangler. Soon as you start to pull, you can see the back end get pulled over. Should have connected to the driver side on the ram.
Run each 3 times and average the times. The end result was too close to really differentiate between them, and it looked like slightly different techniques between each run. Do it blind, as in the driver stays in the Jeep and doesn't know which tire was swapped on. I know this isn't the most scientific test, but it wasn't even trying to be at all.
It’s an off road low traction situation; all the stress is released by the tires spinning and slipping, like their tug of war matches. They definitely don’t want to try this on pavement, as that would absolutely hurt the drivetrain.
@@ReformedBrant off-roading is hard on the jeep; every time you hit a rock or ledge and the tires spin, you put the same stress on the drive train as it tries to push through the rock. That’s why many mfg’s state that off-roading voids the warrantee, even if the vehicle was made for off-roading.
If you can afford two sets of tires (Winter/Summer) then the Wild Peaks are a serious consideration but if only one set has to work all year I'd get the KO3s
I have the Wildpeak AT3W on my LX570... I think I'm going K03 next time around instead of the At4W because that snow performance was so insanely horrible vs the other 2 you tested (in snow). I mean, 100ft slowing in braking, that's worse than abysmal in terms of performance. I think snow performance of the AT4W is worse than the At3W, but given the fact that I live in southern BC and we get a ton of mountain snow, the KO3s will be the best bet. Hopefully they last as long
Not for this test; the extra load from the transfer case is minimal when the transmission is already in neutral. You just don’t want to tow it long distances that way, as back spinning the force against the transfer cause is not good for it.
Currently running Kenda R/T tires and i love them but may go down to an A/T on my next tire and was thinking about the Falken but seeing the snow results on them and feedback from other on here, i may step away from them
As a pretty crappy editor myself. You often choose a song and start to edit the video along that. We often know how the end is going to go, being that it's normally the last clip that I personally put in. So I never watch it. Let's say you choose a slightly longer song than you do have of clips, and you forget to crop that. You end up with that little bit of black video ending the song at the end.
I think it has something to do with shifting\keeping the weight to the center of mass by running across both vehicles, if I remember correctly (I haven’t needed to pull anyone out of a ditch yet). I think Matt’s Off-road Recovery has more details on specifics.
@Cloud30000 I agree with what you say. There for sure pulling someone out of short distance. The length of that rope and the distance. They're pulling the rope straightens out and now the truck is offset. I was just curious why they did it that way if there was a reason or no thought at all. To be honest. Bridle on both ends would work the best for a straight pull. Thank you for your insight
@@LukeEdward on the jeep, yes; but on the RAM, there are tow hooks on both sides, so they could have just as easily used the RAM’s driver side tow hook instead of the passenger side one.

Eventually you just need to run something , i need a set of all terains because 97% of my driving is blacktop mallcrawlin etc ,back in the late 80s 90s you needed a good 4x4 to get onto muddy construction sites but now they put in the blacktop class5 driveways before houses are built but every once in awhile you get sent out into the country and theres no driveway road plows etc . but i hate seing my bfg#2 mudders get worn down for nothing

I switched from KO2’s to the Mickeys and it was a night and day difference in snow and on wet roads. Mud performance isn’t even in the same ballpark. They are constantly sold out and hard to find for a reason!
Great tire test. Very good idea.
Glad you liked it!
@@TFLoffroad Yep! I hope you guys do it more times with different tires and vehicles.
Great new video..something new 👌 😍
Add Cooper Discoverer road and trail into the mix.
Test the new Yokohama Geolandar A/T4 (G018) as well!
Great video btw!
Excellent information.
Thanks!
Toyota Tacoma would have broke for sure pulling that in dirt.
Should run the test again to see if the track conditions changing were part of the improvements especially since it was a linear result
Should combined both tests to get the best bang for your buck
11:36 Nah, that's just the "Wild" in "Wild Peak". They promised traction, but not all in the same direction.
Each run got faster so basically says the path got easier. Each run got the loose top soil to move so the nexxt run got more traction and so forth.
OG bfg are the best imo
Add the Toyo AT3 to your mix.
Why no Toyo AT3
Yea I’ve been wondering the same thing, I love TFL but they always drop the ball on testing tires when they leave out the Toyos because it’s what a lot of people run including myself and I’d like to see the comparison
I'd say the BFG is still best. 2nd place in offload but 1st in snow. Better all-around tire in my opinion.
I have faulken are they ok ?
Having the tie strap at an angle was hurting the Wrangler. Soon as you start to pull, you can see the back end get pulled over. Should have connected to the driver side on the ram.
Run each 3 times and average the times. The end result was too close to really differentiate between them, and it looked like slightly different techniques between each run.
Do it blind, as in the driver stays in the Jeep and doesn't know which tire was swapped on.
I know this isn't the most scientific test, but it wasn't even trying to be at all.
Should have been 3 hits out of each to make sure there wasn’t a freak run.
I think this not save for Jeep Wrangler powertrain.
It’s an off road low traction situation; all the stress is released by the tires spinning and slipping, like their tug of war matches.
They definitely don’t want to try this on pavement, as that would absolutely hurt the drivetrain.
@Cloud30000even off-road, this is very hard on the jeep.
@Cloud30000 so you’re retracting your prior statement???
Love how crazy you all are. Doubling the tow rating up hill. Your trans, transfer case and axles might never forgive you.
Did you say this was done in 4 low?
I have a 2020 GMC AT4 1500 and been looking at new tires i am favoring the big s but undecided on the white letters in or out what s your thoughts
I meant BFG AT3
If you can afford two sets of tires (Winter/Summer) then the Wild Peaks are a serious consideration but if only one set has to work all year I'd get the KO3s
Hopefully they last as long
The Firestone Transforce ATs are the worst factory ones out of my 5 new trucks never got more than 19k miles before they're gone.
Was the Ram’s transfer case in Neutral? Well, does it even matter?
Not for this test; the extra load from the transfer case is minimal when the transmission is already in neutral. You just don’t want to tow it long distances that way, as back spinning the force against the transfer cause is not good for it.
@Cloud30000thanks for clarifying
Currently running Kenda R/T tires and i love them but may go down to an A/T on my next tire and was thinking about the Falken but seeing the snow results on them and feedback from other on here, i may step away from them
I like seeing Jen on more videos, she is easy on the eyes and seems to be a sweetheart
I'm gonna say that wasn't the best stress test to put that lil jeep through. Was just waiting for the tranny to blow pulling that big dodge..Geesh
Why is there 30 seconds of blank video at the end? Was there a minimum video length TFL needed to meet?
As a pretty crappy editor myself. You often choose a song and start to edit the video along that. We often know how the end is going to go, being that it's normally the last clip that I personally put in. So I never watch it. Let's say you choose a slightly longer song than you do have of clips, and you forget to crop that. You end up with that little bit of black video ending the song at the end.
There isn’t even a 10 second blank at the end. After all their weird noises it’s more like 6 seconds.
@@mattox6553 They have since edited the video to remove the extra blank video from the end
Remind me not to buy that jeep off you guys! LOL
The K03 is sadly not available in Washington
Wish you had included the Michelin Defender LTX Platinum.
Isn’t the towing capacity of the wrangler like under 3500 lbs? 😂
Question Why connect tow rope to pass. side of truck and driver side of jeep? At an angle instead of same side straight? Just curious
Because that’s where the tow hook is on the Jeep.
@@LukeEdward on the jeep, yes; but on the RAM, there are tow hooks on both sides, so they could have just as easily used the RAM’s driver side tow hook instead of the passenger side one.
I think it was simply to do with the lighting and getting pleasing footage for this video.
Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T best A/T tire
I replaced my Perrelli factory tires on my 22 F150 with Falken wildpeak and the Falken are much better traction wise. (Plus I got a good deal on them!)😂
Try Yokohama geolander it's really good
Eventually you just need to run something , i need a set of all terains because 97% of my driving is blacktop mallcrawlin etc ,back in the late 80s 90s you needed a good 4x4 to get onto muddy construction sites but now they put in the blacktop class5 driveways before houses are built but every once in awhile you get sent out into the country and theres no driveway road plows etc . but i hate seing my bfg#2 mudders get worn down for nothing
I'll stay with BFG
I have the BFG trail terrains they are awesome in the snow I don’t like
The KO3s they don’t seem as good as the other tires
