    I live in GA, but I'm making a trip out to Omaha to visit a buddy around the time the Maverick launches. Honestly might consider getting a one-way flight to Omaha and coming by to pick up my new Maverick and then road trip it back to GA. The more I think about it, the more I really want to embark on this journey. Plus, I keep seeing all this positive, customer-focused attitude from Long McArthur Ford and a lot of the dealerships in my area just aren't up to the standard I've seen exhibited here.

      I coast a lot in my automatic as well, lots of engine braking in my manual though. Wonder how long my brakes will last by having to brake to charge the battery😂

    • @therealdholling
      @therealdholling 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can do a really light trailing braking - basically the first part of braking is all regen, then it engages the actual pads/discs. It's all about conservation of energy. It's still better to trail brake to slow and not come to a stop as accelerating kills your economy. In my area (Austin) you can basically throw any planning out the window though as *someone* will spot the gap, move into it, and then slam their brakes on or come to an almost complete stop to turn off.

    Couple of questions, If you drive on the highway for a long time without stopping will the battery run down? How do you jumpstart the 12v battery that's
    under the rear seat. I saw a video with a jumper cable stored in the bed but you cant jumpstart it like a non hybrid can you?
    Great information in this video.

    • @jollygreen4662
      @jollygreen4662 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am no expert. But I think its gonna be 90% on gas and everytime u push for more gas. Thats when the electric motor kicks in and use the battery.
      Best example is u driving on the highway under 2k rmp (gas) everytime u push the pedal going to 2rmp or higher (the electric motor kicks in)
      There is no electric mile range on the truck. Its like a Toyota prius.

    • @buttsexandbananapeels
      @buttsexandbananapeels 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      1) you don’t have to worry about the battery draining over long drives. The battery pulls charge out of the mechanical losses from the “transmission.” Hybrids are pretty reliable. I’ve close to 200k miles on mine, no major issues.
      2) most hybrids have a jump “terminal” under the hood. All you need the 12v for is getting the computers booted. The high voltage system handles engine starts, at least in most hybrids.
      I’m not 100% on Ford’s technology, but from why I’ve read it looks a lot like Toyota’s. In other words: good to go.

    • @rowerwet
      @rowerwet 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can discharge the 12V battery, and jump it just like any other vehicle. It's what powers the rest of the vehicle systems besides the electric motors, and you can run it down by leaving something on with the vehicle off.
      With the vehicle on, the 12V battery will be recharged continuously as needed, just like any other vehicle.
      If you want to run something off the vehicle power, leave the vehicle on. It will start and stop the engine as needed to recharge the battery.

    Question; how does using the 40v plug in impact the battery? Will it kill your battery if you aren’t driving?

    • @longmcarthur
      @longmcarthur  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 400W outlet will run off the battery until it gets low and then kick the engine on to charge up the battery. So the truck will need to be turned on to run any 110v outlet.

    I had a 2020 Escape AWD Hybrid... one of the smoothest hybrids I've ever driven - although I didn't care personally for the sound of the engine Ford tuned. Anyway, always got more than the rated MPG. Easily mid 40s city, high 30's highway. A little less in the cold. I REALLY wish ford would have done the AWD Hybrid on the Maverick. I don't think (unless for towing purposes) there is really a need for either the gas only or the FX4 on the baby truck. That would have been good to reserve for "upgrading" to the Ranger or F150. Basic AWD + Hybrid would have been perfect on this. The AWD would be great for that dirt road to the camp site, regions where snow/weather would welcome the traction benefits, and that USFS road you enjoy a weekend drive on that can be rocky and muddy. All things FX4/real 4WD really isn't necessary- especially at the loss of such great MPG. But that's me and I don't work for @Ford lol

      AWD is Overrated. I've driven a Civic Si for years now (FWD with a limited slip dif) and got around on plowed snowy road just fine. I've driven on nonpaved roads plenty too no problem.

    How about out of state buyers? Who handles the title and tax paperwork?

      The customer would take care of that in their state, we aren't allowed to tax on out of state deals.

    Just saw a post that the hybrid models won’t be stocked on dealer lots… will need to be special ordered. How true is this? What if you want to test drive a hybrid first?

    • @longmcarthur
      @longmcarthur  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      True, Ford is reserving all hybrid builds for retail orders. Dealers will be able to have ecoboosts for their stock units.

      @@longmcarthur I’m from Missouri ( not literally), show me. When most people heard Fall, they assumed September they would start shipping, kind of like they had with the non hybrid version. Here it is at the end of September and none have shipped. You are the first person to give a reason why. To my knowledge Ford hasn’t even publicly said why. I’ve seen quite a few cheap miracle cars with great gas mileage advertised but not shipped in the last few years, like the Elio. I’m hoping Ford is better than this but right now but after past disappointments I can’t help but have reservations.

    They say the CVT transmission in the NV200 is so bad.

    • @enkidu1065

      The eCVT used in the Escape and the Maverick is very different from the Nissan CVT. It's a shame that they use the same name for these two very different transmissions because the Nissan's reputation seems to be scaring a lot of buyers away from newer Hybrids. This video shows how the Ford eCVT works in detail: th-cam.com/video/hHU5xFOBcsU/w-d-xo.html This video shows the standard CVT used in ICE vehicles: th-cam.com/video/c47caRqbbnE/w-d-xo.html The videos are a bit on the long side, but if you watch them you can see that mechanically these two transaxles have nothing in common.

    Hope ford doesn't just drop fusion hybrid system in maverick. That' fusion hybrid system is suck. 36 mpg is something when old prius doing 95+ mph . Even prius prime without charge can get 48 mpg @ 85 mph. In the city no matter how u drive 45 to 55 mpg .

    • @jjoncm1
      @jjoncm1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That car also probably is more aerodynamic, smaller wheels, lighter, smaller and less powerful engine, more expensive (comparing hybrid version of maverick) so possibly bigger battery to help get better mpg. It's still really good for a truck. Gotta remember there are a lot of factors that go into how much mpg a vehicle gets.

    letting up on the gas when cruising, locks up the torque converter. That helps on any automatic transmission car. It improves gas mileage on all automatics. My Classs A RV goes from 7.7 to 11 or 12 mpg when I learned that trick.
