This is the second mpg review I have seen. I saw a 5000k mile average and it got 47.5mpg.

@@colejohnston6386 yes we bought it for my wife. It’s the hybrid XL in that blue color. It’s a pretty decent little truck. Things that I will definitely have to improve in the future are, speakers, headlights, heated seat covers. My wife really misses her heated seats that she had in her previous 2012 escape. We also will buy a better set of snow tires for it this fall. Other than those items the truck as a whole is very solid and I’m happy. We put 10k down and got $2000 for our trade. For about 11k it’s an unbeatable value.

Out of all your videos Tim; this was the most fun to watch. If that Maverick came with a Sirius radio; It would be really special. Might get me out of my Hemi Dodge Charger which if I go light on gas pedal easily gets over 30 MPG at 70 MPH. Would be extremely hard to give up the V8 sound though. Thanks for this video.

I have been driving in hyper-mile mode for years. I didn’t even know it had a term. I drive in the right lane at 58 to 60 mph in a 65 zone. Number one: fuel economy. Number two: staying out of the way of the crazy people W.O.T. Cutting each other off. My 26 mile commute gets me 27 MPG. My 70 mile commute gets me 40 MPG. IN 2020 when the country close I essential worker commuted and got 45 MPG with open highways ahead of me. I drive a 2018 1.5 civic sport. By the way my 2004 XR650L with contigo street tires would get me 55/58 mpg.
Now we are waiting on a Hot Pepper Red Maverick hybrid XLT with Lux packages and Copilot 360. I suspect it may turn into a 2023 order. I’m looking forward to hyper miling.

Yeah, but the lightning is going to have half the range of Maverick Hybrid. Plus the lightning is going to easily cost $15-20k more (which amortized over the life of the lightning will cost a heck of a lot more than the gas savings) than a Maverick, and thats assuming you get the work trim. Go with one of the mid level lightning trims and you are looking at $20-30k more than a hybrid Maverick. Unless you were one of the earliest lightning orders, the Federal tax credit is going to start running out really fast too, increasing the cost of the truck even more. Lightning is a cool and more capable truck, but its more expensive than a Maverick by every metric.

@@TheTinkeringMachinist yes, I order the Pro, yes the Lightning is more expensive, yes you can put more expensive gasoline in the Maverick then the Lightning, but the Lightning will probably be worth more and retain its value more then the Mavericks ever will, I see a point in the future is that old ice vehicles will be worth less and less

If you live up north with sub zero winter temperature these are what many hybrid owners are reporting. When starting (remote starting) cold.. if the heater and defrost is activated, the catalytic converter will overheat and begin to turn red (glow). The engine revolution will start to fluctuate. To make it go you have to turn off the heat/defrost. good luck trying to drive a vehicle with heater and defrost off in winter .. you won't go very far.
Another one, Shuddering at low speed, when taking of at red light or stop sign, it will occasionally shudder… as if you are trying to go straight from neutral to third gear without going through 1st and 2nd…
Abrupt breaking at low speed.. the regen braking system apparently is grabbing the brake so hard that your vehicle stop abruptly. Just warn every passenger not to drink anything while you park.
Rattling noise coming behind the dash.. very hard to pin point where it comes from.
Apparently drive shafts are coming loose. Make sure you check that regularly. This can be dangerous and affect gas mileage.
A small number (check your vin) have their gas tank pierced during bed liner installation. But the problem is that most dealer don't have any gas tank parts.. your vehicle will be in for weeks. That is also true with many parts, including the driveshaft, catalytic and sensors,
As of 20th april 2022, many of those issues are known, but people that are going through these are having hard time getting their car fixed.. as dealers are still learning the hybrid and don't have any parts in stock.
