    I’m getting over 50 to 59 daily on my way to work! On the way back home I get around 30 cause I drive it hard. Finally Ford makes the vehicle I always wanted. Fun to drive, practical, comfortable and roomy.

    It’s really nice someone else is putting content out there that this vehicle can achieve 50+ miles per gallon. I post all the time in the Ford maverick group saying that I get this mileage and they say it’s really not possible for you to get that you must be fudging the numbers. Nope it’s real. You just have to know how to drive a hybrid. I am certain under certain conditions out of mostly doing city driving you can easily achieved 60 miles per gallon. I absolutely love my 2023 Ford maverick XLT With the luxury package.

    Absolutely can confirm our maverick hybrid Lariat luxury is capable of the mileage you are getting . What is amazing about this vehicle is how much more control the driver has to keep the vehicle in electric driving. We put 180,000 miles on Highlander hybrid, the maverick is so much Easier at maintaining electric drive. when you give the vehicle throttle , It does not automatically switch to gasoline the way our old Highlander did. I’m sure everyone’s hybrid technology has improved, but having the ability to drive the vehicle very efficiently just using the gas pedal is exceptional. Properly using the brakes , Is just half of the equation, if you lift on the throttle, on flat ground or downhill, and gently go back to the throttle you will be able to drive in electric mode for a very long way. It doesn’t take a lot to switch The car back to electric, I am learning to do it quite easily. Allen

    I'm nowhere near you and in fact I'm halfway across the country from you but I absolutely believe that you can obtain 50+MPG driving smartly and with a light foot. I've driven a Toyota Camry Hybird from Turtle Lake to Superior Wisconsin, keeping it at about 60 MPH and watching the hills and arrived in Superior with the cars computer telling me it was getting just about 64 MPG.
    As a matter of fact ordered my Maverick today from a dealer in Minnesota. Last fall some SNAFU happened with my online reservation and I got skipped. I'll be excited if I can consistently get your numbers. Thanks for the upload.

    Great job. Very helpful. I waited about 8 months for my Maverick hybrid. I love the little truck. I live in Puerto Rico so I had to pay over 7000$ then if I were state side. I am applying you goid driving techniques but the roads here are very bad lots of large pot holes are very aggressive drivers with lifted trucks and jeeps driving around me in the dirt emergency lanes. I have to be careful to do well on my regenerative braking as they get mad easy and all carry handguns. Unfortunately my truck started to have problems with the electrical system at 1700 miles. The recall foe the bad cable from the rear battery to the fuse box came apart. The dealer could not find anything wrong so I had to bring it back twice and so then the Ford recall notice and the TH-cam videos, (It is the only hybrid on the Island.), about how to fix it. I still do not have my truck back probably 2 weeks. Waiting f6ir the part to ship to our island.

    • @DirectAutoOutlet
      @DirectAutoOutlet  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi David, our order took over 9 months from order to delivery. There was little to no update from the dealership or the manufacturer. After about 7 months I started receiving emails from Ford with a build date and build progress. Once the vehicle was delivered to the dealership the dealer tried to drop us by saying they would not sell us the vehicle. It slipped out of one of the salesperson's mouth that they are marking up orders that don't get picked up by the original party by $8000 and selling them to a list of new buyers that they had on hand. We walked a fine line between keeping our composure and promising not giving them poor scores on the surveys that were to follow in order to be able to drive off with the truck eventually. The whole experience left a sick feeling in my stomach. Its aggravating and humiliating being refused service when you're an all cash customer who has waited 9 months for something you ordered and left a deposit for. I don't ever want to step foot in that dealership again. Our salesperson who was very pleasant insisted the surveys were a direct reflection on his service and not the management or dealership "his report card" he referred to it as. We did end up giving him top ratings because we enjoyed working with him. There were several other members in the management staff that were also helpful. I am now waiting to be able to order a Ford Lightning. When I am able to do so I will be trying a different dealership but I am less than hopeful the experience will be much different. Although I am a dealer myself I never truly understood why consumers hate dealers so much until now. I strive to be different at my store but when 9 out of 10 dealerships engage in such practices the stereotype will never be broken. More and more car manufacturers are playing with the idea of selling directly to consumers and bypassing the dealerships all together. I hate to see that happen for the industry but unless some of these practices stop I'm afraid that will be the new normal. I hope you enjoy your Maverick once it arrives. Good luck to you!

    Have you ever driven the Escape PHEV and if so how is the acceleration? I drove a hybrid back in 2020, it seemed very slow. I live in Brooklyn and some of the entrance rams are the size of drives way's. So any car needs to be reasonably quick.

    • @DirectAutoOutlet
      @DirectAutoOutlet  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I have and it does appear to be a little more agile however Hybrids are not known for being quick by any means. With the combined power of gas and electric power it will be able to get out of its own way but there will be about a 1 second delay when you punch the gas and then you will get a ton of engine rev and noise due to the nature of a CVT style transmission. If you were to wear ear plugs and drive it aggressively you would agree it has just enough power but if you were to listen to how loud the engine revs and how much noise you are producing when driving it hard it will make you feel like the vehicle is under powered. None the less the vehicle is designed to rev high when driven hard and it will not hurt anything by any means other than fuel economy. I hope this helps. Thank you for commenting.

    Don’t top off your tank Sir…the excess fuel can get into the evap filter and eventually make it send a check engine light and you can’t pass the emissions test if you have that in your state, and it can make more pressure buildup in the tank and cause it to be hard to add gas as it thinks its full and will shut off the pump nozzle over and over again making it very frustrating to get the tank full….this happened with my vw jetta hybrid and is a costly fix 600-900$ or more…anyway thanx for the info and great video 😊

      Hi Andrew I typically keep mine in normal mode and have only tried Eco mode a few times. From my limited experience in Eco mode it looks like the throttle response is desensitized and I didn't like that you would have to select Eco mode every time you start the car. • @DirectAutoOutlet
      @DirectAutoOutlet  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes 43-45 is effortless. I try to finish every tank above 50+MPG's with mixed freeway and city driving. If I can manage to consume an entire tank of fuel with city driving only which happens every once in a while upper 50's or even 60 MPG's is doable.

    • @DirectAutoOutlet
      @DirectAutoOutlet  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      with the unibody construction you would lose stability and the vehicle would likely twist under certain conditions. I would not recommend it. You'll want a Chassis on frame truck to safely open up the cab to the bed. Thank you for your comment.

      @ScottOstr ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DirectAutoOutlet Because it's a unibody, I respectfully disagree. VW already has a VW truck called the Tarok where the back of the cab folds down making the bed of the truck longer. It's crazy simple.

      They would sell way more? They sell everyone they can make, I am waiting on 11th month for the Hybrid. If you want AWD buy the eco boost, the Hybrid selling point is great fuel mileage. I don't want AWD, no need in California. This would add quite a bit of weight and loss of power/mileage. You would have a drive shaft and rear differential. I watched a Ford dealer doing oil change on the Hybrid, and they noted how clean the underside was and ease of working on compared to AWD model.

    • @DirectAutoOutlet
      @DirectAutoOutlet  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I go on lots of long trips but where MPG is concerned you'll get about 39-40 MPG's with the cruise set at about 80 MPH on a long trip. As for pure EV's yes, long trips will require lots of planning and lots of down time at the charging stations waiting to recharge. We are not quite at the point where it makes sense owning a pure EV as your only vehicle.

      To be honest, I’m no ev fan, but with 1,500 pay load capacity, it’s almost in half ton territory with a smaller bed. You can still do all the basic maintenance yourself. Most F-150’s I see only have a 5.5ft bed anyway. 2,000lbs could tow a johnboat. I laugh so hard at people with F-250 lariats with no mud on them, a clean bed, and no trailer hitch. You could buy snow chains since it’s fwd. I ordered one, not sure that it’s enough truck, but when it arrives I’ll decide if I want it. My main issue is I do a lot of highway driving. Still 33mpg is way better than 22.

    • @DirectAutoOutlet
      @DirectAutoOutlet  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's quite easy to have the vehicle display 100% return however it is not accurate in practice. The vehicle only uses your regen portion of the tach to track if you're fully within the green range during braking to a complete stop to give you that score. It does help in training the driver to maximize your return however yes, it is not possible to really get 100% return unless you are braking on a downhill grade. Energy is lost to friction and heat making 100% return virtually impossible while driving on a level terrain. Thank you for commenting.

    • @geokrpan7527
      @geokrpan7527 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DirectAutoOutlet Batteries can only absorb a tiny fraction of the regen current. It is because of the low charge rate of the batteries. Regen won't be very effective until charge rates get better, magnitudes better. Them saying 100% is flat out irresponsible.
