Johannesburg, South Africa is a 2nd home for black Americans, some of my American friends visited SA couple years ago and they loved it saying Johannesburg is like one of American city. I lived in Houston, Texas for 3 years and am back home now got 2 properties in Greenstone Hill and Bryanston a very nice neighbourhood. Cost of living is reasonable in South Africa and you can live a decent lifestyle. Enjoy your stay in South Africa !

Hi, couple of questions. First, what visas are you all getting? Secondly, I was looking at Munyaka in an area called Waterfall, what are your thoughts on that property? Lastly, what arrangements will you make to contend with loadshedding? I'm going in October to Joburg and Capetown then moving permanently next year and I want to be sure my living arrangements are secured and adequate.
We already have our retiree temporary residence visas for 3 years. I’m not sure about Waterfall but I can look it up, it sounds really familiar though. And we are buying an inverter/generator to counteract the loadshedding. However, I think we also may sometimes use the loadshedding for bonding with each other and doing other hobbies, I think we are already super dependent on technology so we may try that.
And I totally get that. We did the same, visited Joburg and Capetown in May and then relocating to Capetown in December. But we aren’t securing living arrangements until we get there so we can tour and instead we have an Airbnb for about a week in the mean time
@@TayllorChanise Can I ask, what are the requirements for the retiree temp residence visa? That's one of my issues, determining which visa to seek.
I’ll make a video covering it but really you need to have a valid pension or retired income that will suffice because you can’t work under that visa. I’ll try to get a video up in a day or so

Most of the time electricity is available, however i use solar and i never have any problems with lights and internet connection

The USD is a real threat to South Africans. Y'all just don't see it yet because you love things. These prices are gonna go up if more Americans move here and we will be pushed out back into the townships because our Rand salaries cannot match the USD. It's good and well that African Americans come to SA to find refuge and belonging💛, but we're gonna pay soon enough for this. The same way Capetonians are paying right now.

Yes it’s ridiculously here with these sky high rental properties. So far so good where I live. I will remain there until I get ti south africa next year in April. to look at rental properties and properties to buy as well

Helllo again Taylor,thank you for replying to my last enquity and I really appreciate a good, honest response from an American, I am indeed researching, my qualifications and my career orientation i IT is leaning towards the very scarce skills in IT rather I should say emerging technologies. I'm more on DevOps engineer and AI amd Machine Learning specialist, as such I'm much rather planning to raise the first say five -10 million dollars in the states and invest about $7million dollars in US shares and money markets so that I continue to leverage on stronger currency. I also want to experience riding on a driverless cars you know, yaah enjoy South Africa, I'll keep watching and will recommend best places you may need to visit as a family, enjoy!!!!

The small round kitchen sink is for rinsing your food e.g. vegetables, meat etc. Most SA kitchens have the round sink plus the normal sink to wash dishes.

I mentioned it in my video about Cape Town but we prefer the landscape and being by the water. Plus more of the traffic lights were on

The USD goes a long way, and it’s a good way to be apart of their economy !
Great information, but try to give the guys all options available. You can rent a plot with large land with the ability to build and expand house for less than R10 000 a month plots in Midrand Johannesburg. You choose option to buy the plots outright and build your dream homes than to rent $800 - $ 1000 a place. You can also get good avarage apartments around Waterfall that go for around R10 000 for 3 bedrooms with 2 or 3 bathrooms. Keep the good work and comeback home guys, invest then go and reinvest in the U.S again.

Most people in America don’t pay that. So I’m showing prices well below the American average rent. We pay upwards of $1200 and up in many areas and in real rural areas not too much lower. So to show places at $700 & $600 it’s a big deal for Americans. And these were prices given to me by my American followers to see what’s available, so maybe I might do it if it’s requested

They do! Not every place does but if that’s important use the filter on property 24 and add it. But you can also purchase AC units too

Kinda expensive compared to Kenya, Uganda or Ghana
Everything is relative, I’m sure there are lots of places much more affordable or much more expensive. But in comparison to America, it’s all much better and that’s the point I’m making. So if you find your sweet spot in Kenya or Uganda or Ghana then that’s great! The point is to let Black Americans know there’s much more out there for you outside of America
There are cheaper places if you look hard enough. For example a studio and/or a 1 bedroom is about $200 p/m.
In Ghana landlords demand a full 1-2 years of rent in advance. And the quotes she gave are for luxury apartments. Luxury apartments with similar amenities in Ghana cost way more like $2,500-$3500 a month ( keep in mind you pay a minimum of a year in advance so that's like $36k😮...
Luxury apartments in Kenya may cost $100-$200 more per month than it's South African counterpart ( if comparing to Johannesburg. Capetown is a little more expensive
Location determines the price in SA. The apartments she is checking out are in Sandton which is the richest square mile in Africa so its expensive. I live in Randburg which is 15mins drive from Sandton and I pay $400pm including wifi and its still an exclusive suburb. When I lived in Durban I paid $300pm. So its all relative.
