- This vlog is really fun, we toured several apartments an these were the ones we did not select. So many good options, so hard to choose, but a choice had to be made. Apartment searching can be tiring but take your time and keep looking don't rush family, joburg is big and has something for everyone..

Hey Tayllor, big thanks for sharing your house hunting adventure. It was a real struggle, but I'm stoked you guys eventually snagged your preferred home.
Personally, I'm all about spacious yards, big bedrooms, a comfy living room, and a killer kitchen when I'm on the house hunt. The places you checked out were kind of a letdown with all those cramped spaces.
And don't even get me started on opening a bank account in South Africa, not a walk in the park for expats. 😂😂 I caught the Jones family vlog recently, and they were stressing about the whole process, but they've got it sorted now.

Yeah that’s why we didn’t choose any of those places. We definitely need space BUT you should always check out different kinds of properties. And a lot of people are asking for a house tour but for security purposes I won’t show where we are living in a tour.
Def will record in the house but I’ll do a tour once we move. Our place has a lot of space and really everything we could as for .

I’m a South African living in China and opening a bank account here was not a walk in a park. It was a four process and I still had to come back the next day. But once you get it sorted, the stress is over… so is everything else.

I'm so glad Americans see the actual South Africa and are moving away from this narrative that Africa is just a jungle and has animals everywhere. Glad more of you are open to exploring more than what the media feeds.

So many but we are just renting so we will have plenty of time to search for the place we want to buy. I’m trying to see all the nooks and hidden gems here!

I think a townhouse would have been a better choice. Same price as apartments just that you’d have more space in a townhouse than apartment. Check townhouses in Bryanston and Northriding.
I never showed where we chose. These were places we did not choose. And a few of these are townhomes. Townhomes don’t necessarily offer more space. Some do and some are small as well. Also I don’t like the northriding neighborhoods aesthetically, they are pretty established just not the vibe for us . Thanks for watching !
Always include prices in both dollars and rands so that people can know how much the properties costs...it will be so much easier for others who would wanna come to S.A

Did you use a specific realtor for your apartment tours? Which website was most useful in finding your apartment? Thank you for sharing .
No specific realtors but I used Property24 and Private property to find available residences . My favorite is Property24 and have WhatsApp downloaded to communicate with the realtors
Randburg (Northriding, Olivedale, Ferndale, Boskruin, Bromhof, Sharonlea, Sonneglans, Robindale, Malanshof etc) has very good value for money (R10000 - R15000pm for a spacious space), only issue is finding a modern one with nice finishings. Glad you found a place though. Hope you didn't pay a premium price
I think the issue for me is things are ultra modern which goes against my taste. Marble like floors are cute but slippery when wet, ultra modern seems so cold and uninhabitable. I like something in the middle. And we luckily stayed within our budget (:
Bromhof/malanshof really has that homey vibe for real💯 speaking from experience living there. maybe y’all should explore that in future next time. but happy for y’all still!🎉
