    I watch this video once a year - when summer is approaching on the northern hemisphere and it’s time to stow away the trainer until autumn. I prefer this video compared to Tacx own videos. Keep up the good work!

    Thank you Shane for all your good advice. I set it up with Zwift and it works really nicely but the guys on bike 99 could not give me the exact length of warranty on this product. Is it 2 years? I really hope so for the price. Also my bike seems to lean on the left of various degrees when mounted on the trainer which makes me sit a little uncomfortably on the bike did you experience the same thing? Amazing trainer over all and it is so quiet. Last night I did some training while my family was sleeping next door and not problem at all with the chain well greased.

    Its an old video but a couple basic questions here as I look into maintenance on my Neo 2T -- 1) It didn't look like you slid the o-ring back into place. I thought it needs to be flush with the hub body, or in this case the large metal wheel. Otherwise debris can get in there. 2) I thought you don't want any lube heavier than 5w motor oil in the paws or you're slowing them down.

  • @mrgreenc1
    @mrgreenc1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello, yks for the share!! 1 question: why you dont lub the hub where the cassete seats?

  • @richardharari712
    @richardharari712 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    My Tacx Neo is 2 years old and never had an issue. Recently, During a high power training I felt a burning smell, what could be the problem?

  • @norevlimitr1602
    @norevlimitr1602 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    So I unboxed my new Neo and tried to fit my Specialized Tarmac disc with the Specialized SCS rear hub standard and since the cassette on the SCS wheel is 2.5mm inboard vs a standard wheel I would have to completely readjust the rear shifting system to use it on the Neo, limit screws and everything. Not to mention the disc caliper hose is pressed firmly against the Neo,s side case as it comes out of the inner side of the SRAM caliper. New bike or new trainer???

  • @xliedholm4637
    @xliedholm4637 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thx. Time again to do the maintenance. Have you ever tried to put a string of silicon between the two plastic parts that usually rubs against each other and often create a squeaky sound? Or do you spray them with something else ?

  • @elidouek5438
    @elidouek5438 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    10/10 for clarity and straightforwardness! What would signs and symptoms would appear that would let someone know that the freehub needs regreasing? Also, is the spacer behind the freehub a bearing surface or is it there as a spacer only?

    • @gplama

    Hi Shane. I followed your process and serviced everything as described. Since putting everyting back together again, the freewheel body feels tight when you freewheel and doesn't turn freely as before. The little washer is in, and I didnt overtighten the nut either. Any suggestions?

    • @elidouek5438

    on the non-drive side, it's possible to unscrew and insert/remove a small spacer to accommodate disc brake sized frames. Because I have both caliper and disc brake bikes, I have to be a bit careful to look after this part of my Neo. But you didn't mention it in this video. Hi Shane. I just bought this trainer and setting it up. I have a Giant Defy Advanced SL0 with 10 speed Di2 and it worked fine with my wheel but when on the trainer it makes a chain noise like it needs to be regulated. It does not go to the biggest cog and while shifting the chain is like wants to shift to a different gear. DO you know if it is normal? both are shimano 10 speed cassette. The one on my bike 32/12 the one on the trainer 28/11. The thing is I would not like the need to change the settings every time I switch from bike to trainer and vice versa. DO you know if I did something wrong installing the cassette on the Neo? The fact that I cannot get into the biggest cog make me think it is installed properly.... Any advice please! Thank you.

    Bonjour,
    Désolé ma réponse sera en Français. Je trouve dommage que pour un appareil de ce prix, il faille mettre des morceaux de scotch pour que les caoutchoucs tiennent. Pour ce qui est de la lubrification, j'aurais mis quelques gouttes d'huile au Teflon. La graisse risque de coller les cliquets (Pawls je crois en Anglais) lors des reprises du pédalage (les cliquets s'abaissent lors des phases de non pédalage et restent collés quelques secondes lors de la reprise du pédalage). Cela m'est déjà arrivé. Depuis, plus de graisse mais de l'huile, et tout va bien. Dernière chose, il n'est normalement pas nécessaire d'utiliser une clé à fouet (chain whip je crois en Anglais) pour serrer une cassette sur une roue. Est-ce nécessaire sur le Taux ? En tout cas, merci pour cette vidéo.

    Hi Shane, wondering if you have any spares or broken down tacx products? I recently had a t2800 die and the saga started when it had no warranty, no retailer support & a possible RMA but had to be flown back to Europe to MAYBE get replaced.
    Good news story is that tacx have come to the party & shipped a brand new neo to me for nix & I have a cool looking paperweight in the corner. I think there’s a burnt out wire in the bottom? However I have no diagnostic tools, diagrams, schematics, manuals or support to fix it. Living in Ballarat, any suggestions would be great

    Hi Shane, i have a question re the tacx neo. My friend has purchased one back in the uk and we can't get it to connect ant+ on ipad or laptop. Different ant+ dongle used on windows 10 which works with the elite direto. We have tried the tacx neo desktop software but the beta version. Other question is do you have to pay for the desktop version to work? Oh by the way the trainer connects bluetooth on ipad. Thinking about sending it back as Tacx are very slow in getting back to us.

      For least sound, Neo. It's the only option for super quiet direct drive smart trainers at this point in time. The Kickr17 is pretty good... but the Neo is king of shhhh.

    Hi Shane what greese would yoi recommend? What greese are you using personally and it is good also for the cassette and chain or we need to use a different one? Thanks!!

    • @gplama
      @gplama  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That was a lithium based grease. Chain needs good chain oil, not grease.

      Good chain oil.... there's a few cycling specific brands out there. There's an alternative movement now waxing their chains. I'm not sure I can deal with the overhead of that.

      I have always use "dry" lube on my indoor trainer chains. Currently that's Finish Line Ceramic Wax Chain Lube which dries nicely. Though, thinking about it, maybe not everyone has a dedicated indoor trainer bike like I do. My trainer bike ONLY see indoor duty, so no need to worry about rain, hence the dry lube.

    Hi Shane!
    Thanks for your video. I have a problem with my Neo but was not able to find a solution yet. I have serious chain vibrations, although I have changed literally all components and tried two different Neos. Anybody else with the same issue?
    Here's a link to the video that illustrates the problem:

    Thank you!

    • @gplama
      @gplama  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's an interesting one. I was going to mention chain or rear cassette wear as it seems to be where that would occur (chain leaving the cassette roughly)... but I see in the comments you've looked into that. Tacx Support or a really good mechanic who can look at it in person is your best bet.

  • @mathiashaas4474
    @mathiashaas4474 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    No. No. No. You don’t grease the inside of the hub with thick grease like that. For the hub springs you should use a thin oil. Fat grease will not return the blade-springs and pawls fast enough and you will end up with pawls somewhere in the middle of the ratchet ring or worse. That’s a rookie mistake.

    • @gplama
      @gplama  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Done this for years without any issue. There’s ‘best practice’ and theory, sure… what you’re claiming isn’t happening with the grease used.
