thanks for the interview! it was great. This guy is one of my favorite character designers and i'm so glad i had the chance to know something about his story :)
I like Chris Battle's work a lot! I've read his blog and seen his drawings, he is truly an inspiration to me! I want to become a cartoonist also, and I really enjoyed his designs on cartoons I love like El Tigre, Foster's Home, Dexter's Lab, Kick Buttowski, Mighty B and Powerpuff Girls! His Hanna-Barbera art style rocks!
hey man thx alot im in high school and have been drawing alot lately and have been looking into cartoon animation for character design and chris battle shares alot of good info about his experiences and how he got his start this channel helps alot 2 thumbs up
thank you for uploading this. It inspired me to become an artist instead of a architect. I'm not serious enough to become an architect but i believe that i can become a cartoon designer. If you talk to Chris anytime soon, tell him that he really helped me out on deciding my career.
I've seen all of his shows including Kid Buttowski and I love them all. I remeber coming home from school when I was younger to watch Dexter, Samurai Jack, and even the Powerpuff Girls lol. I still watch those shows today and are just as into them now as I was back then. It's cool to now know a bit about the guy behind a few of my most favorite cartoon shows.
This video seems overly edited, as if what he has to say isn't interesting enough to stand on its own so it has to be supplemented with pictures and camera zooms and colors and lights. It's way way too much editing for a thing as simple as an interview. That being said, this sounds like a good interview underneath all the stuff that's trying to get in the way.
yeah agree. that over the top bass (low frequency boosting) sound is also very annoying. the interview itself is not about "how to be an animator" but rather a life history of that man. just my 2 cents though,
you know Evan, you should sub this interviews because, I understand english, but not everything as I'm from Spain. And these interviews are great and interesting!! keep them up!
Holy crap I LOVE this guy. Not only do I love the cartoons he worked in before, but he works for Kick Buttowski, which is an amazing cartoon compared to the rest nowadays. I shall follow his steps/advice. Although drawing real life is pretty tough...I'll try my best.
thats awesome!! i remember when i was a kid my dad would beat the crap out of me when i would draw on my school work so i was very hesitant to draw but i eventually stared hiding my drawings. And now im going to college to get my bachelors in graphic design & animation :]
I interned at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in their Computer Graphics Department. That is where I learned how to use LightWave 3d a 3d Modeling and animation software. I have been working with that software ever since then.
You should interview Shakeem Winn. That's my husband. He's getting ready to release his first graphic novel next year called Dunkin Skids. I think it's going to be the next big thing. He's one of the great artist that no one has ever heard of before.
I really like these interviews you do. . . What about some one interviewing you? Oh, and I doubt it, but it would be amazing if you could get John K. on here. Ren and Stimpy had to be one of my favorite shows growing up.
Interview comic book artist david petersen, creator of Mouse Guard. And how bout a tutorial on some of those characters eh? This channel of yours is incredible.
dexter and samurai jack I love as a kid. Wan i was younger i evan wanted to be a animator BUT then i read some comics witch then made me want to be a comic book artist. those are great tips btw. I have ben doing that BUT noun the less they are good tips. bring more artist to interview. I like watching interviews of artist. AND i love it wan they talk how they draw as well. thanks for posting.
First he'd have to make a time machine that travels to the future and then get a better time machine that travels to the past, then he might be able to interview him.
Dear lord! Just when I thought I knew the names of the awesome people of animation, the world comes and smacks these awesome dudes in my face! Have you done Genndy Tartakovski? If you have, how about Penndelton Ward from Adventure Time or JG Quintel from Regular Show? And if you're not CN bounded, is it possible for you to interview Butch Hartman or Mike DiMartino (or something) from Nickelodeon? I'll You-Tube stalk you for life!
Hey!!! I've got an idea for a tutorial that you can make!!! How to draw this guy? (at 3:00) I know that's easy, but he looks cool! (Draw him holding two guns and expression is angry) If you'll make a tutorial then everyone will put this as desktop's background :D
wow ur serious? id have to say its a extremely hard job do you know how many frames a animator must draw to make a animation? how much editing he must do? ( that is if hes indipendent) you wouldnt last a hour in animation
Well, I gave up on wanting to ever become an animator. It is because I found out that the people who created and made the industry wanted it to be severely difficult so that only a certain few can succeed at it while everyone else failed at it. That is correct- Only a certain few succeed at animation and everyone else who cannot succeed at it, is immediately branded as a failure to the studio and to the art community. Not to mention that you must utilize all of those useless art rules, techniques and life drawing examples at all times, as well as taking any and all criticism. Each and every person literally, must truly be "blessed" by God to have a never-ending imagination and extremely perfect art skills in order to actually succeed or even BE in the Animation Industry. And because of those reasons, I grew to hate, and even despise all animation, animators, artists and anything art related- because they all succeeded where I couldn't and due to its difficulty.
Jeremy M that's your own fault? If you're not going to want to work for it, it's no one's fault but your own. Why would you blame the industry for your lack of passion and laziness? Anyone can be a skilled animator but only few put in the endless hours to become one.
Hey Evan do you know of anyone elts on youtube that dose videos on drawing tutorials i want to work on my skills as an artist and i want to learn from very talented people like your self! If you know anybody that would be KEEN.

I interned at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in their Computer Graphics Department. That is where I learned how to use LightWave 3d a 3d Modeling and animation software. I have been working with that software ever since then.

wow ur serious?
id have to say its a extremely hard job
do you know how many frames a animator must draw to make a animation?
how much editing he must do? ( that is if hes indipendent)
you wouldnt last a hour in animation
I meant the industry, the atmosphere, most jobs have you wearing a suit and tie. The people have unrestricted personalities.
In different terms it does. To you it does not. English is quite a tricky language.
