- Tom Warburton, creator of the SMASH HIT animated series "CODENAME: KIDS NEXT DOOR" on Cartoon Network, talks about how he started his animation career. He explains how his passion for animation began as a child and lead him into a career where he created "Codename: Kids Next Door".

On the other hand, six seasons is a pretty good life for a cartoon.
At least it ended with a grand finale instead of on a cliffhanger or something.
For anyone who has a dream:
Keep trying. If you really want to be an animator, keep trying. Stop looking at the big picture; break it down to sizes; look at your drawings and improve upon the small stuff. Do you like drawing characters with like Steven Universe or Phineas and Ferb? By that, look at all the character design; watch cartoons and see what you like and don't like. Join artist forums. Don't give up, you might regret it one day.

I would say yes and no I mean on the one hand it's sad and I know there's more he wanted to do with it or perhaps a follow up series however there's the old adage of always leave them asking for more

I loved how he was honest in saying that animation isn't easy and that its not a guaranteed job or a permanent one....Truth....you gotta love it.

Cartoon Network needs to give the viewers the power to decide what shows should be made again.

Seriously Tom Warburton. KND was a pure succsess. Bring it back with them being teenagers and fighting KND. Or bring them back as adults. Bring them back still as kids, anything. Anything will bring KND to a all time high. Do it!

I have to confess , I started drawing at the age of 11 back in 2005 , and the reason I started drawing is because of Codename : Kids Next Door.

Knd fills me with nostalgia. Im 28 and still think of that whole universe. This man is magic.
tell him i love knd and also tell him my favorite episode is operation W.H.I.T.E. - H.O.U.SE and he should make a new series of knd wich the characters are the future sector v from numbuh 1 's dream
In Operation TAG, the mech Numbuh 2 and 5 use resemble Veritich Fighter/Valkyrie from Robotech/Macross.

In my opinion, Teen Titans had a bitter sweet ending with that "Things Change" episode.

When he won that one cartoon contest with Operation: No P in the Ool, he was given a contract for six seasons. But only six seasons. When his six seasons were up, he had to stop making it. My guess is that it didn't kick off as much as Spongebob or some of the other cartoons that seem to be immortal. I mean, ask around and more people will know who Spongebob is than Numbuh 1. It's a matter of popularity I think. Which kinda stinks. D:

He has worked on everything from Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury, to the ANIMATRIX.
He got his big break directing RUGRATS for Nickalodeon but I was curious what his first animation job actually was.
You should interview him.
From the few interviews I managed to find online, he is an interesting, intelligent and fascinating artist!

Stopmotionwizard2001 Oneal Nah, that doesn't necessarily NEED to happen. Cartoon Network or Netflix or Adult Swim can make G:KND happen as time changes, Samurai Jack, PPG, and Teen Titans got rebooted, so there is no denying that G:KND WILL happen!!! (Though, the new PPG and Teen Titans GO is really bad, I bet that G:KND is far better than those 2 if it ever get aired)

I wonder if he knows about the whole Macross+Southern Cross+ Mospeda = Robotech scenario? Then again, he did said something about watching it, along with Gundam (most likely not Gundam Wing since, you know, that came out around 1995) and Castle in the Sky, as a child and must of grew up with knowing Macross as-well-Macross. Anyhow, I wasn't really surprised founding out about him and anime since if you watch KND, mostly the later episodes, the plot is continuous.

You know I don't wanna be like a "dream killer" or something, but I highly doubt that Mr Warburton makes more episodes of KND. He's working now in Disney with Maxwell Atoms (The guy who made Grim adventures of Billy and Mandy).

@kidnick101 I know that in my area they still show The Kids Next Door in the mornings. :) Keep a look out for it--cartoon network keeps changing the times for when the show it (they used to play it in the afternoons) so you just might be able to catch it! :)

He's god damn lucky, that's what he is. I can never become an animator no matter how hard I try, since it is too fucking difficult. I don't even like cartoons very much anymore because I cannot succeed as an animator or an artist.
