Hildo, the Harley King in this video, had a stroke back on June 28, 2015 that left him partially paralyzed and weakened, and being the exceptional individual that he obviously is, he's already back to cycling. Please say a quick prayer that he continues his stellar recovery and lives on to a long and happy old age?
Its all good. Been riding for over 30 years. Have Harleys and BMWs. Old ones and newer ones. Riding a motorcycle no matter what make or how fast or slow its still all good. A rider, two wheels and out in the air with the wind in your face. Doesn't matter what town, country or place. By yourself or with others. Matters not. To have experienced riding on two wheels is all about living. At least to me. Difficult to explain and describe to someone who has never been on a bike. Speaking for myself I am so pleased that I ride bikes regularly and take that experience of freedom with me no matter where I go or end up. Hope to have many more years with the life style. Living life to the absolute fullest is enjoying a bike ride. Good luck to any and all riding and be safe.
Hildo definitely knew how to ride. It makes sense, that Harley has gobs of low end torque, a closer gear ratio, and a long ass front end that won't easily come off the ground when shit starts spinnin'. Add a guy with 40 or 50 years' experience and beach ball sized nuts floppin' on the gas tank, there you have it.
It was the expected outcome,Nothing to do with the power of the bike,The experience of the rider, one a show off with a flash bike with little experience,I could pull away faster than that on a 550cc two stroke
A Japanese sport bike needs to be launched by riding the clutch at 8000+ rpms because that's it's powerband. The Honda guy didn't do that so he lost miserably. He look to be a bit of a newcomer because it looked like he even stalled the bike once before they raced. Experience is everything. Hildo has no fear and knows his bike so he gets the most out of it. The other guy is afraid so doesn't use the bike's potential.
It's not the bike; it's the rider. The CBR1000 is a hell of a bike. The Honda rider isn't ready to ride that Honda yet; he doesn't trust his ability or his bike. Look at his starting position while the other rider is ready to go and relax. Kudos to Hildo, the legend 👏
I was close to top RPM in 2nd gear, running a little over 100km/h (over 60 MPH), know that cause that's were my false teeth begin to rattle (shiftpoint). Think the race lasted in the neighbourhood of 3 seconds. Damn, maybe I guessed the 70HP wrong?
Nothing beats the torque of the American made Harley vtwin... I show this video to all the punk kids riding those foreign bikes telling us that our Harleys are slow.. thanks for sharing much honor and respect from your American brothers
This is some old school street rivalry boy! I hope Hildo recovered well from his stroke and stays healthy for a long time, cos he seems like a salt of the earth kind of guy. Great Video!👍👏
It's not just torque that is a factor here. Hildo's bike is also superior with it's low center of gravity, which allows Hildo to use more of the bikes power without flipping backwards.
i wish i could meet Hildo. he seems like a really genuine, fun guy. respect to him for knowing his machine. i ride a sportbike, and even i can appreciate his ride.
So many butthurt haters in the comments. It's an obvious joke and that old man is badass. It doesn't matter if the sportbike will win in a longer race, which it would, this was not a longer race.
That’s the stupidest term.. did he not buy the parts? Did he not start with a bought bike? Sounds like the term someone creates when they own junk but want to justify it being junk
@goatlocker1995. I do have front brakes, just not of the working kind. They went south a couple of days before racing and are now waiting for repair. Riding without a front brake set-up, here in Holland, would attrack attention from the Good Ol' Boys in blue very quickly. That attention will set you back 75 euros (approx. 100 US), as I know from experience... Must say, I can think of better ways of spending it :-)
I really loved this video. Although I don't own any kind of bike and would like to buy HD one day, I think it's pointless to argue which kind of bike is better. Ride what you like and let others ride what they like.
Harley continues to make new antiques for those that want one. I have no idea why anyone would buy a Harley. They are unnecessarily loud though, that's it.
My last bike was a hard tail 80 inch Evo with 11to1 compression, close ratio 2.44, 4speed belt primary 24- 48 final drive ,good for 65 mph 1st gear and I could hand push the kick starter when hot, motor had lots done
What people dont see is how much the sport bike rider was not only cocky but a try hard :P while the old guy made people laugh and still had a good time
It's all about the RPM an engine develops it's power. It is quite obvious that a V-engine will have a big advantage off the line compared to a straight-4. Rolling start at about 70 or 80 kph and the CBR will lift off like a fkn rocket
Exactly, heard so many people try to say this is fake... it's not even hard to believe that it's real obviously a hopped up harley could run the ass off a crotch rocket out of the hole, no chance on the high way however, different types of power
Hildo can ride an the other guy has no clue...that's all it is. Inexperienced rider on that fireblade would destroy that Harley from start to finish both really cool bikes though. I've got cruisers sport bikes wheelie machines burnout bikes dirt bikes all of them and I can tell you they all have a place
Horse power is about right. The torque on the harley is probably twice that of the crotch rocket. More torque will win a race everytime on a short track.
A quick start has nothing to do with power, it's about TORQUE - both bikes produce about the same in total - probably circa 75 -80 lb/ft The Honda doesn't make much until 4-5k and then it's still got a way to go to get to the max at probably around 11,000, the Harley is making oodles more torque from low revs up to max revs (which aren't much higher). It makes big torque from 800rpm up. The Harley also has about 4 times the rubber footprint to transmit the superior torque to the road - another influence is the big bang firing sequence of the Harley compared with the Honda, the Honda produces constant power which gives the rear tyre no time to recover so it's likely to spin - even if you don't see it - dropping the clutch at 5k revs would spin the rear wheel and/or lift the front whereas the Harley makes pulses (Cylinders fire Bang No1, Bang No2, Miss No 1, Miss No2) which enable tyre recovery (minutely during Miss 1 & Miss 2) which in turn leads to better transmission of torque to the driven wheel and hence the road. This is why Ducatis are rather good at maintaining traction in corners and won a lot of races before the Japanese twigged it was more than the bigger engine allowance for only having a twin. In the video situation even a professional racer would look poor from the off, but it's horses for courses. Who would bet on a racehorse climbing a tree faster than a monkey ? Not me.... But you'd bet the horse could run faster...... There is a reason you don't see Harleys in MotoGp - and you don't see people cruising in top gear at 50mph on Fireblades..........They are made with different goals in mind.
The honda would probably have a larger rubber patch and better torque and power plus it's lighter. The problem is the rider has no idea how to launch it. It's pretty obvious. Nothing against hildo as he obviously knows what he is doing but if you swapped the riders around the outcome would be the opposite. Anyway it's a great video for harley riders to dream on.
Fireblade would eat this bike the only thing the Harley has is 2 seconds at take off which means dick all. Fireblade is a sub 10 second bike in the quarter mile period. And Honda destroyed Ducatis very short lived run of 1000cc class wins. . Honda had it before then Ducati had it for a couple years at best then Honda took it back again for years to come with RC-51 and the latest year firebaldes. And No the fireblade cruises at 60+mph pretty nicely in top gear. Inline OHC or DOHC engines always run at and are capable of higher rpms. And only Hondas V series rc 51 can run high rpms most Vs just cannot do it .
@xapakupuct The bike was built 'from the ground up', it was never an existing motorcycle or Harley. The 'pink slip' says that the make is 'Eigenbouw' (Buildyourself), although it is based on Harley technique. All OEM Harley parts are gear cover, one rockerbox cover, both cylinderheads, oil pump, FXWG front brake calipers and the transmission, although it has a S.T.D. Development case.
in the 1/4 mile the fireblade would win so badly it wouldn't even be a race. The v twin produces torque at low rpm, that is why he gets the jump off the line. The fireblade can do 180 mph while the harley would be lucky to break 125 mph.
Jimmy Baggs That harley is chain driven. It can easily make it past 125 with stock gearing. If it can't it can simply be changed to the gearing to do that.
Awesome vid,Hildo,s harley had that long first gear and easily won,3 in a row. HARLEY POWER. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Hildo, best wishes to you and all, from, Auckland, New Zealand ❤🙏❤🙏❤🙏❤🙏❤🙏⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍✅ Hildo da man.
That low centre of gravity is his secret weapon. If the yamasuki ever catches on, he might need to put some drag bars on the bike... :D A bunch of accessable torque, and a short course sure help too.
I've got a Harley Sportster and I think you should think about what you're going to do, that Honda is nothing to belittle. Don't take me wrong, I love my Harley but it's just not fast enough. That Harley's got enough torque to pull a building down, he owned him alright. This is my first time on here, I'm gonna sub, leave a thumbs up, and a tap on the bell. Prayers for your speedy recovery, Hildo. Greetings from USA!
I couldn't believe it. My money was on the CBR lol but after the 2nd time I've come to the conclusion that the man on the Harley has more BALLS then the dude on the street bike!!!!!!!!! Congratulations on the win 😎👍
lol its funny i have a harley and i dont need to think my bike is the greatest motorcycle to ever grace the streets with its presence but alot of sport bike guys get all but hurt and cant have fun or take a joke if their kind of bike dont win
What a lot of people dont realize is that the honda motor doesnt get full horsepower or torque until 13000 rpm while the harley evolution motor with its hemi heads gets it max power at 2000 rpm and keeps it through the power band
Hildo, I hope to get to see you more in your videos, I enjoyed this little bit of getting together, from another Harley owner. I've got a 2004 1200 sportster, It's not as fast as my liter bikes but it's time to settle down a bit. Be safe Brother.
Harley = torque sport bike = rpm/ high end house power What happened here is exactly what I'd expect to happen. Cool ass custom bike though that shit has mad personality! Tell the sport bike more font break and pressure on the forks, then try your burn out and make sure to shift gears
I used to have a Yamaha TT350 ex-police rat dirtbke. It could whip anything over 200 metres as well. Ricky, you are a fool. Hildo, you are a freaking legend.
It doesn't matter, the only way a Harley will win against a 600cc+sport bike is if the sport bike rider is either inexperienced or isn't trying. It is an inarguable fact that sport bikes are faster, and quicker than Harleys. Built for different purposes is all.
Harley faster off the line till about 100 mph then sports bikes fly past thats when they are in higher rps and thats where there power is . all up top harley is all at bottom and midrange no top end unless modded for a higher rev limit, cams ect
Great job Hildo!!! And by the way, all the candy asses who say your bike is a piece of shit are just jealous because they don't have the talent to build their own much less work on their plasticrap!!!
The only thing I can't help but wonderful is of the engine is more pumped up then he says. But, doesn't sound like it, and it is kick start so if it had some crazy compression numbers it would need a compression release to start it I would imagine. But anyway very cool video
You'd have to be an idiot to think a sport bike stands a chance in that short of a race against a quick Harley, and this is coming from a sport bike owner. That inline 4 doesn't turn on instantly like the big v twins do. Give it a little longer to let the sport bike stretch its legs and its a different story.
DESIREFX For 100 ft yes.... the harley motor will pull harder 0/60 then run out of power. If that "race" lasted more than 5 seconds it would get shit all over. Simple as fuck.
DESIREFX Yeah hence the whole "short race" part of my comment. In a full quarter mile or anything longer that 1000 will shit all over a harley. Simple as that. I'm not trying to bash Harley's. I'm just speaking the truth. My 600 would likely eat that Harley in a quarter mile race.
Aye, who other than these idiots in the video drag races such a short distance hahah. My mates XT660 would crap all over both of them in a 100 yard dash. That thing tops out at 90 but it gets there bloody fast. Much faster 0/60 than my CBR900RR.
This reminds me of drag racing my homemade Z1000J low rider against a shiny new GSXR 750. I'd meet this guy occasionally riding home from work, he'd always beat me to the next set of traffic lights but I'd always smoke him taking off!
Hildo's bike is getting on for 1600 cc, and the engine has been modded. It's a stroker, amongst other things - enormous bottom end power. He's also an experienced traffic light racer, apparently. It's not the first time he's done this. Doesn't need the extra horses for what is basically a drag race - just torque. Over distance, the Fireblade would win, cos it can use its horses. Short distance, from a standing start, torque wins.
Sportbikes have stubby wheelbases with riders perched up high, the geometry sucks for launching off the line. The CBR is optimized for a completely different purpose. Aside from someone like Dani Pedrosa, I don't think anyone on that CBR is going to match Hildo's 60 ft. time.
No its not, both riders never had an error, If you look at the chopper, the weight distribution is on the rear end, allowing the bike to grab, the sports bike can't grab as the weight is not on the rear wheel but in the middle allowing the rear tire to spin with to much throttle, The Chopper will always win in short drags as it can launch faster, long drags the sports bike would more then likely win. Also Gearing sounds to be a lot longer in the chopper (could be cause of the sound) meaning the chopper would stay in a lower gear longer allowing it to again, take off faster without having to switch gears like the sports bike. Its simple, which is why people bitch about sand bagging in drag racing, people put more weight in the rear of the car so it grabs and takes off faster.
Allen Barnett Thanks for trying to make a coherent and relevant comment Allen. Please leave now and let those of us who actually ride motorcycles and understand physics lead the discussion.
Dude. Its physics lol. Hv you ever learnd it in school? Weight distubution plays a big factor here. The chopper had the advantage with a wider and heavy rear end its simple.
Torque stronger than hp all day, not by a lot but it makes a Harley what it is. 👊 horses don't mean much if you can't put em to the ground. Even my pops 103 custom order has more ft lbs than ponies, not by a lot but if you can ride like my man you could have a sweet mini bike and smoke that 250 ninja or whatever it was supposed to be lol. The 600 sport bikes in America put up a hell of a fight
No way it's stock my man might have had a 50 shot on there and didn't use it 🙂 completely custom bike. Seeing him smoke that bike with high rise bars was even better.
Video is funny. Fan-boys crying over who wins or loses, grow up. If you didn't like the video, leave a dislike and begone. Nobody wants to hear about you not liking it.
Really? I challenge you bro. We do the same race, my bike against your clearly superior NC700X. Same race, same place. If you win I pay you 2000 euro's. If I win, you pay me 2000 euro's. That's easy money. Howabout it?
He did not use 6th. gear, you can not run faster than my Chopper, it is not twice the weight and the Yamasuki does not have triple the power. Sir, your math is off and your way with words questionable.
there is no mystey here. it is an inline 4 vs a vtwin. the way the two engines make power is very different. the harley makes LOTS of low end tq much more than the same sized inline. the inline also makes it power at much higher rpms...and since this is very short race the metric doesnt have enough time to spin up enough rpms to make the power to beat him...by the time it does its over...also the older guy clearly knows his bike better. LOL....suckered him good.
The CBR puts out 70 ft lbs at 8000 rpm. The Harley, stock, puts out a bit more than that at *3000 rpm*. However, it ain't a stock engine - it's a stroker, it has a higher compression ratio than stock, and I gather that he's done something with the gearing. It could easily be putting circa 85-90 ft lbs at 3000 rpm. Oh, and the Harley engine is approx 1600 cc.

Harley had a wide gear ratio, but lower gearing than the CBR… that CBR is geared to do 150kmh in 1st gear.

Just dump the clutch.
A Japanese sport bike needs to be launched by riding the clutch at 8000+ rpms because that's it's powerband. The Honda guy didn't do that so he lost miserably. What a classic video. Long after Hildo is gone, people will watch and enjoy this. This was a real Harley in the hands of a real Biker!

This video never gets old. You just have to love the sound of a Harley.
Perfect illlustration of the difference between power and torque, amigos!
Never ride both of those bikes, wouldn't want the illusion to dissolve.
rather low end power and torque
Lmfao the fireblade ate that bike what a silly video
After the race Hildo also went back to Ricky's house and tapped his mom.
So many butthurt haters in the comments. It's an obvious joke and that old man is badass. It doesn't matter if the sportbike will win in a longer race, which it would, this was not a longer race.

I guess the 70hp is probably not right :) Nice work though, both riding it and making it run very nicely.
low end torque doesn't show up on peak HP numbers
more like 50
More like 40, those engines never made big HP. It's the torque per kg and also the Harley rider's better at riding his bike than the other rider.

That is more than the motorcycle. Hildo is obviously the flying Dutchman. Bravo!
in the 1/4 mile the fireblade would win so badly it wouldn't even be a race.
My Love and prayers to him and anyone who loves the two wheeled world as much as I .. bless
I never tire of watching this - brilliant
I've got a Harley Sportster and I think you should think about what you're going to do, that Honda is nothing to belittle. Don't take me wrong, I love my Harley but it's just not fast enough. That Harley's got enough torque to pull a building down, he owned him alright. This is my first time on here, I'm gonna sub, leave a thumbs up, and a tap on the bell. Prayers for your speedy recovery, Hildo. Greetings from USA!
One of my favorite videos Eva
One of the most enjoyable videos I’ve seen in a while
I love Hildo! He is BRILLIANT:)
What a lot of people dont realize is that the honda motor doesnt get full horsepower or torque until 13000 rpm while the harley evolution motor with its hemi heads gets it max power at 2000 rpm and keeps it through the power band
no one can beat Hildo coz he's the Ghost Rider
I’ve seen this before but had to watch it again, it’s hilarious. What a character.
Hildo, you rock! I like your "Yamasuki" and no breaks....
Hildo,
I hope to get to see you more in your videos, I enjoyed this little bit of getting together, from another Harley owner. I've got a 2004 1200 sportster, It's not as fast as my liter bikes but it's time to settle down a bit. Be safe Brother.
That was some cool shit. That old Harley whooped his ass in that short run. Hildo is a bad ass
Lmfao the fireblade ate that bike what a silly video.. 🤣 all good fun but don't pretend that jumping a take off is winning a race
Harley = torque
sport bike = rpm/ high end house power
What happened here is exactly what I'd expect to happen. Cool ass custom bike though that shit has mad personality!
Tell the sport bike more font break and pressure on the forks, then try your burn out and make sure to shift gears
I love this video. Makes me smile every time :-)
I used to have a Yamaha TT350 ex-police rat dirtbke. It could whip anything over 200 metres as well. Ricky, you are a fool. Hildo, you are a freaking legend.
Love to see how Hildo can Race with the Old Yamaha VMAX 1200.
Lmfao the fireblade ate that bike what a silly video
Don't have much to say .other than thank you for renewing my love for my 74 sportster rat bike
Hildo;s bike (70HP) + Hildo's beard (200+ HP)
Obvious win if you ask me ;)
Lmfao the fireblade ate that bike what a silly video
It doesn't matter, the only way a Harley will win against a 600cc+sport bike is if the sport bike rider is either inexperienced or isn't trying. It is an inarguable fact that sport bikes are faster, and quicker than Harleys. Built for different purposes is all.
Harley faster off the line till about 100 mph then sports bikes fly past thats when they are in higher rps and thats where there power is . all up top harley is all at bottom and midrange no top end unless modded for a higher rev limit, cams ect
Torque is a pleasure!!!!!
When he strapped on that welders helmet and put on them bird handlers gloves....you knew this was about to be spectacular!
Great job Hildo!!! And by the way, all the candy asses who say your bike is a piece of shit are just jealous because they don't have the talent to build their own much less work on their plasticrap!!!
Just saw it 10 times.
F*cking GREAT !!
this never gets old ...lol
Wow, what a legend! Long live Hildo!!!
Awesome video, the Harley kicked ASS great job Hildo.
70hp on that old Harley Davidson, just imagine what the old man could do with a new motor! Great job Hildo!
Mr. Harley & Mr. Davidson
Would be PROUD !! Haha
Yup
the hond cbr might have an advantage around the track but drag races it just got its ass handed to it
DESIREFX
For 100 ft yes.... the harley motor will pull harder 0/60 then run out of power.
If that "race" lasted more than 5 seconds it would get shit all over.
Simple as fuck.
DESIREFX
Yeah hence the whole "short race" part of my comment.
Nothing like the torque from a vtwin
Hildo's bike is getting on for 1600 cc, and the engine has been modded. It's a stroker, amongst other things - enormous bottom end power. He's also an experienced traffic light racer, apparently. It's not the first time he's done this. Doesn't need the extra horses for what is basically a drag race - just torque. Over distance, the Fireblade would win, cos it can use its horses. Short distance, from a standing start, torque wins.
That was rider error. That chopper had no chance otherwise. The chopper had a superior driver.
Yup
Dude. Its physics lol. Hv you ever learnd it in school? Weight distubution plays a big factor here. The chopper had the advantage with a wider and heavy rear end its simple.
no matter how much i love superbikes more than harleys, the harley riders vibe is to hart warming and correct for me to care.
good demonstration from torque vs hp, do you happen to have a dyno chart from your bike?
Don't forget that horse power is a byproduct of torque,
Torque stronger than hp all day, not by a lot but it makes a Harley what it is.
Si el CBR llega a acelerar le saca 50 metros!!!!!!
The CBR 1000 makes more TQ most likely.
Hildo seems a cool guy with a great sense of humour ,rest of the world take note !!!
Video is funny.
Fan-boys crying over who wins or loses, grow up.
If you didn't like the video, leave a dislike and begone.
Nobody wants to hear about you not liking it.
THAT WAS FUN I LOVE TO SEE THE HD WIN
Really? I challenge you bro. We do the same race, my bike against your clearly superior NC700X. Same race, same place. If you win I pay you 2000 euro's. If I win, you pay me 2000 euro's. That's easy money.
Howabout it?
Is Hildo okay now? This is my favourite video on the entire internet.
He did not use 6th. gear, you can not run faster than my Chopper, it is not twice the weight and the Yamasuki does not have triple the power.
Sir, your math is off and your way with words questionable.
The harley may may only put out 70hp, but that beard is good for at least 80hp all by itself!
The sport-bike never had a chance
there is no mystey here. it is an inline 4 vs a vtwin. the way the two engines make power is very different. the harley makes LOTS of low end tq much more than the same sized inline. the inline also makes it power at much higher rpms...and since this is very short race the metric doesnt have enough time to spin up enough rpms to make the power to beat him...by the time it does its over...also the older guy clearly knows his bike better. LOL....suckered him good.
Lmfao the fireblade ate that bike what a silly video
The CBR puts out 70 ft lbs at 8000 rpm. The Harley, stock, puts out a bit more than that at *3000 rpm*. However, it ain't a stock engine - it's a stroker, it has a higher compression ratio than stock, and I gather that he's done something with the gearing. It could easily be putting circa 85-90 ft lbs at 3000 rpm. Oh, and the Harley engine is approx 1600 cc.
guess the losers crotch rocket 🚀 was all crotch and no rocket
The fireblade is an under ten second quarter mile bike. It would eat this
