Thank you so much Frank .Very good advice and handy hints . You!ve done a very good job. I will start mine once the weather improve in Melbourne Australia. Jose
We just started painting our house but we’re worried about the gutters. We too, are going to a darker shade so I really don’t want to leave the gutters the original color. Thank you for advice on the foam roller, makes sense and will save brush time.
A neighbor of mine had a problem with the paint peeling and flaking. One of the pros said that the gutters/downspouts require a bonding primer before the top coat. You said you sold that house, but it would be nice to know how it held up.
SO helpful! To be honest I didn't think painting gutters was 'doable', I was thinking I had to sand, prime, cut in etc; LoL... Now I know that I'll be painting in the spring. I know it has been less than one year, but how are the gutters holding up to the elements? New subscriber. BTW - painting those gutters really looks incredible on the home! Hope mine comes out as well....got to figure out the 2nd story though. Thanks for filming, editing, and uploading the video, it was very helpful!
Yes thanks for watching and subscribing to our TH-cam Channel. I recently sold that house and got a new one. Definitely thinking about doing the same thing to these gutters. I’ll upload another video if I decide to do so. We also have second story house in this case
I know you don't hang or sell gutter, you paint. The shape is called "K" and there are charts online that show a cross-section of gutter types out across the US back to wood. So, a foam rubber brush with exterior paint that has primer in it after cleaned. Thanks! As soon as I fix one of two pressure washers my 38 year old son broke, I will start cleaning. If you haven't, do a video on ladder safety. I repaired 1,780 foot high TV towers and hundreds of 150 foot to 300 foot microwave towers, so heights don't bother me. Watching Tom Silva on this old house, placed the ladder up at an angle. To judge correct angle, he placed his toes at the base of the ladder. While standing, reach out. If your hands touch a rung on the ladder, you are good! Thru the rung or unable to touch, adjust the ladder. My ladders like most have moving feet. I drill a 3/8” hole to drive a round into the ground. On un-even locations, I have 2) 2X4’s with 1/2” holes drilled 4” in from the end. Place in a ladder leg, keeps it straight and it from moving. Tip for your help and safety!
I get it. Thanks. Sometimes I’m stuck; landscape stone bed is too wide and the ladder maybe too far from the house. Other times I had a dump trailer in the way and had my son on the porch pulling in on the ladder while I scaled it, nearly vertically lol
Well young man the first step is to take the gutters down to do a professional job, it's takes little time to take them down but I like to do things right.
Nobody would completely remove gutters to simply repaint them. Every professional paint company will mask these gutters and spray them after pressure washing/cleaning.
You are completely wrong!!! I haven’t seen any painters done that im a painter all you got do is clean up cover up everything that has to be covered and get it done 😊
I took my gutters down because I had to replace some wood soffit fascia boards. Then prior to redoing my roof I figured I better paint the fascia behind the drip edges. Now I’m about to reinstall them and I’m thinking about painting them first. Also I had 7” aluminum spike nails holding mine up. I’d like to try screws this time.
Damn glad I watched this before I started painting my gutters! Thank you sir!
Very nice, well made video and instruction. Some of the other ones I saw turned it into rocket sci. I remember my dad doing this back in the 80/90s
It looks like brand new steel guttering ...God Bless You too 🙏 ✨️
Hey, that came out really nice. I usually spray gutters (after a prime coat), but that foam roller gave a nice finish.

I saw another video where they recommend using DTM bonding primer before painting so you don’t have those issues.
The paint can read that it had primer with the paint.
Can ya paint aluminum siding with that roller or will it leave lines ? I thought ya had to spray aluminum siding or gutters . Thanks
Good video with good tips! What do you do if there is old flaking paint on the gutters? How would you prep that surface? Thanks.
he said pressure wash first
Can ya repaint aluminum siding the same way ? Thanks
I’m pretty sure you can, but to save on time it may be best to spray the siding. Depending on how much needs to get done.
Making me want to hire someone. LOL.
Primer is a good idea if the metal is a glossy finish before painting
Yes thats right. Thank you very much for sharing.
Thanks for the tip. May I ask, what is the name of the lighter color you painted the actual house?
Is the paint a gloss, semi or flat? I'm painting gutters tomorrow. Thank you
What did you use? How did it turn out? I’m thinking about painting satin

What size is the roller?
It is a 3” foam roller. Hope this info helps

Also ..will this paint come off if the customer wants a house wash a year later? I wanna make sure that bleach won't remove the paint
What kind of paint do you use? How does it hold up?
Question: Is that oil based paint? I have aluminum soffit and want to make sure I only have to paint once. Thank you!
I believe we used exterior water-based paint. I applied 2 coats and that was more than enough.
No primer?
What do u do when the house is 35ft tall
I swear by those foam covers. 2 coats and a good feather brush and it looks like they are sprayed.
What kind of paint do you use?
I used Valspar SeasonFlex Exterior Tintable Paint from Lowe’s
Surprised you didn’t use a rustoleum
you talking the spray cans? if so that be some dam expensive gutters lol
@@jdogofoz3642 no. Rustoleum brand paint for metal.
Imagine when that starts to peel off
Doesn’t all paint peel after a while? If you use the right paint it will take tens of years.
Power wash

Nobody is going to add working time taking down when you can just use plástico to cover 😅
I'm actually bidding a gutter painting job now and I could use some tips. Text me back if you are willing to help. Thanks
