Edit: ah shit didn't notice the video skip @ 9:14. That's a much longer alert than I thought. How do you like the high mounting? @ 8:50 asuming you were going 61mph, then from 9:11 to 9:38 (29.5 seconds (crediting you the 2.5seconds beforehand @ 8:50) you traveled 0.4999mi. Assuming the officer was 1 mile at your rear, means the police officer traveled 1.4999mi in 29.5seconds which equates to 183mph. I find that unlikely in an SUV. If we assume the police officer was doing about 87mph (looks more like 80mph, but I bet the SOB was going faster earlier). Solving for miles gives us 0.71mi. Subtracting the miles you both traveled (approx. 0.5mi), means the police officer was 0.213miles behind you at the start. This gives us an approximate 1/4mi alert from the rear, unless there is video here I do not know about. Assuming the officer was going 95mph: would put the initial alert (29.5 seconds previous) at 0.27mi behind you. Assuming the officer was going 80mph: leave us with a 0.156mi alert from behind.
Okay. Some of the Escorts and others use the GPS to tell you what the speed limit is where you're driving in addition to your own speed. I was hoping this one also shows that. It's handy when you aren't quite sure of what the speed limit is. But not having that isn't enough to keep me from getting one of these. Not sure why they left that out though, since the speed limit is usually more useful than a clock or the exact frequency of the radar.
i feel like this is such a dumb question and i’ve been trying to find the answer for so long. but how long do they last ? like if i’ve had it for 6 years will it work the same after that long ?
Keep uploaded the latest firmware and can tell you if you have MRCD like in Canada with "photo radar, this unit does NOT work. The newest firmware is getting closer to work as once I passed the parked photo vehicle it picked up the signal, but obviously that would be too late, your fine is in the mail..
why did you get the uniden hardwire kit instead of using the cable? is that advisable, and it is easy for the non experienced to hook up? :) thank you!
The hardwire kit eliminates having a wire dangling in the middle of the windshield. Is it a must have?....No. Does it have a cleaner look and free up the cigarette lighter plug?.....Yes.

I almost never get false on Ka Band. If I see Ka, there is a cop. Car's BSM uses K Band, usually GM or Honda/Acura might give off false alerts. To eliminate the false K band, you will want to go into Advance mode, and turn down the K band sensitivity. I also have TSF On, K Narrow. My radar runs very quiet with very little false.

No because police radars get their speed by having the type of frequency to bounce off of your car and back to the radar. Which means you have to be in sight of the radar for that to work. The radar detector is just constantly searching for a specific Frequency that is used by police radar’s within a certain vicinity. That’s how I understand it. I could be wrong.
I've used the R3 for about a month now and i'm not very impressed. I have a Escort Max 360 that i put aside while i tried the R3. Some of the things i like about the R3 are: - Alert sounds are great, easy to here - Look of the unit Some things i don't like are: - The range is just too far, my detector constantly goes off and i have it set only to Laser and KA, and when it goes off i NEVER seen a cop. My Escort would go off and within reasonable distance i would always see a cop, so i feel like this is either throwing false alarms or its just picking up things miles away that don't effect me. - No directional arrows. - Display is not as good as everyone claims, it's mediocre at best, no better than the Escort Max 360. - The auto dim feature blacks out the whole screen rather than dims, this has been a problem since day one, very annoying. All in all it's decent, but just way too sensitive, i can't imagine leaving all the bands like X, K, KA, Laser on, the thing would never stop making noise. I'll be switching back to my Escort Max 360, it's just a more reliable solid product than this.

close virginia and washington dc lidar jammers are illegal in pennsylvania also in the us for cdl commercial non commercial vehicles with gross vehicle weight over 10,000 sae pounds for more information check out youtube channel radar busters or vortex radar both are very good informative channels vortex seems to be a little more knowledgeable on canada and their radar detector laws
I've had my Uniden R3 for about 2 months now. I bought it at Best Buy. Recently the power cable broke on the end where you plug it into the cigarette lighter. I went back to Best Buy to see if they could help me out and they can neither fix it or provide me with a new part. I'm having to buy it from Amazon. Very frustrating process. You would think a $400 piece of equipment would have decent accessories that could at least be easy to find replacement parts for. But it doesn't. Little things like that really irk me. I would not recommend this piece of garbage to anyone.

They are built to last. Just don't drop it since there are some tuning on the horn antenna. You don't want to mess up the alignment.

Wondering why you don’t turn on all the bands in the setting?? There are some bands still off when you show us in the video. Why?
The video was filmed when I first unboxed it. Since the video, I have change the settings. Right now the only band turned off is X band.

Radar detectors are legal in 3 provinces: British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan, but not the rest of the country.

There's a trade off with all that filtering that Escort has in their radar detectors, unfortunately that trade off is range.
