Im from Sweden. The country of Stiga! This deck is very good. This types of ridning mowers are very popular here. Im working at a stiga dealer as a mechanic. You did a fantastic Job!
I have a Husqvarna R322T here in the states. It's a real goat in terms of going anywhere. You can never get the blades high enough to not scalp the lawn. That's it's only real drawback. Otherwise, I'd pit it against any other 4 wheel drive mower - and win! It's a SHAME Husqvarna never really supported them here.
A little tip we have learned on the underside of decks after we clean and paint we make up a fiberglass resin and coat the whole of the underside another protective but the grass doesn't stick so easy either. Great vid
That machine is DEFINITELY worth restoring. Ive been a welder/ steel fabricator for the last 45 years and i can tell that this is a really high quality machine by the thickness of the mower deck and all of the welding. Great job!
When getting things powder coated, there is a primer that can be applied, also one can apply more than one coat of powder to give a bit more resistance. Chip Channel is a restorer ov vintage metal toys, and he always powder primers his toys.
I really enjoy watching your videos. Saving by repairing instead of throwing away is great. Well done it looks great. Thanks for posting and I look forward to the next video.
It's been awhile since your last project. However, it was worth the wait...nicely done! Looks like a pretty strong/well built deck. Your work will ensure many more years of service. Thanks for posting!
That is one very well built deck, pity other makers did not take the attention to detail Stiga has on this one. Your restoration, whilst expensive, is impressive
That deck looks like a well designed and good quality unit. Having the pulleys and belts above the deck is a great idea and the moulding dies for that huge plastic cover would have cost millions of dollars. I’m yet to find a better solution to metal parts in a hostile environment than fish oil. I have had bare metal plates on the bottom of my carport posts for 15 years and with just one good coating of fish oil they have never developed any rust. Paint it on the underside of a lawnmower deck and leave it for a few weeks to thoroughly cure and it will never rust from moisture or corrode from the acidic grass. Terrific job on making that deck look like new. Cheers, Stuart 🇦🇺
I'm totally motivated now. I have and old Cub Cadet self prop mower. I'm ordering a new deck because of old rust. Will be on the road agin come cutting season. Great video too
Bolens made something like it in the mid 70s. Rear engine and hinged in the middle with the deck out front. You pushed against the steering handle. No steering wheel.
There is such satisfaction and relaxation in watching your machine restoration videos. I love them cant wait for the next one and as always you do such beautiful work😁😁👍👍🤜👋
Grate machine stiga I drove them every day for 3 year fantastic on flat ground but do a good job on bankings to and they offer a small snow plow to that' does a good job to if you have the 4x4 stiga but all round a fantastic machine and very durable we add a couple over ten year old spent there life working in parks but still run and cut fantastic
Great job mate looks awesome. Got a Stiga park pro 25 and restored the old deck so can appreciate this video. Had to use pullers on the pulleys with my deck, they were extremely hard to get off, can't believe you got yours off by hand and some wd40 lol.
That's such a cool looking little mower, if somebody buys it from you, I sure hope they go over it from top to bottom, and tighten every single nut-n-bolt on it, it appears you didn't pay proper attention to them, "appears", good-job!
Great restore and an interesting machine. Don't see many like that in the US. My only nitpick is that the mulch plug rivnut is upside-down. With those you always want the bolt to pull it tighter, load it from the same side as the install tool. Otherwise over time they will un-crimp, stop holding the load, and will be an absolute pain to remove since you won't even be able to grab the "nut" end of it to hold it steady.
I am in the process of restoring a craftsman 2 riding mower, first time trying it! The deck was completely shot and beyond my capabilities to fix so I decided to just keep it as a trailer puller and what not, it ain’t perfect but it’s coming out pretty good for my first time!
I've never seen a mower like that and I've been working on mowers over 30 years..i like it.. i also restore mowers for resale the decks can get beat up pretty bad sometimes..i have repaired many..after i paint a deck i use truck bed liner underneath the deck after i spray paint it.. the bed liner sticks to the paint better..sometimes i can save a deck and sometimes i can't..i enjoyed this video and all others you put out..see you on the next one Cheers 🍺🍺🍺🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
@@alexstromberg7696 i do own a X - Mark zero turn...haven't owned a tractor for many years but i fix quite a few of them.. Husqvarna makes one similar to the one he just restored..it's nice but too expensive my X - Mark was 4,000.00 that was enough..
Something I've seen commonly done is to replace the bottle jack on a press like that with an air over hydraulic jack (assuming you have a compressor) it saves a lot of pumping on the handle.
Cool! A Stiga! Have had a few of those, unfortunately the metal and paint is of inferior quality so the deck tends to rust out quite fast. I switched to Husqvarna a few years ago and their quality is better. Good video thanks for the effort and time you put into it.
@13:36 I would have used a product called cold galv it is painted on with a brush (not sure if you can spray it) and if you scratch it it stops rust from developing , you can apply 2 or 3 coats.
Ya know, looking at the underside of the deck, I couldn't help but wonder if a spray on bedliner would be a good idea? Something like a Rhino Liner spray. If it can hold up to loads of gravel being dumped into it, it can surely handle the little rocks and sticks that a mower can kick up. And it can be applied over powder coating as a protective layer. So you could potentially get the entire thing powder coated, then come back behind with a bedliner spray kit and do the underside of the deck yourself.
Like a giant sand blaster down there. Plus a rough surface can cause stuff to stick and build up faster. I just spray down with cheap paint at the end of every season. Nice and thick. After a good cleaning of course
I'd have only done one modification and added a hose port one that the garden hose connects to as it's absolutely brilliant for helping keep deck cleaner in between cuts other than that great video
I guess you will keep the underside of the deck clean after every mow not like the previous owner. The buildup of mud and grass will make it rust quicker if it can't dry out after use.
There are graphite-based, sacrificial anti-stick coatings for the undersides of mower decks. I have four Honda walk behinds, as well as a Cub Cadet rider, I use it on all of them. Just brush it on, lasts the season, as it slowly wears away-
Nice work, looked better than new :) And the quality of this Stiga looked decent, not like their trash pusher movers. Those things rust to pieces in a couple of seasons.
I have often wondered if using a pickup bed type coating would work better than paint or powder coat for under the mower deck. Across the pond here we call them rhino lining or line-x coating. Its extremely durable and can withstand tremendous impacts while protecting the metal underneath. Just a thought, the deck looks fantastic, cheers to a great restoration!

@@videodistro I agree, for a plain flat yard it's OK but any hills... nope..not working.
Speciellt batteri maskinerna.
@@alexstromberg7696 - Håller helt med dig - det är bara slit och släng nuförtiden. Synd på ett sådant från början kvalitetsmärke.
There is something so satisfying about taking things apart, making them clean and "new" again, then putting it back together. Well done!

Absolutely like new. I see years of life in this deck now... Thumbs Up!
That is a well build mowing deck. Better that anything I’ve worked on.
Same know matter how hard I try to make it look good for the customer it’s not every as good as this

Thanks yes this deck was primed also. Before sending it off I was unsure if it was going to be or not but they did a great job.
I appreciate your work. No flash, no big ego, just stuff getting fixed.

Very good restoration of the mower deck
That’s the very same lawnmower that took me forever to save up for in Lawnmower Simulator lol
I was waiting for a lawnmower simulator comment XD
The yellow and grey are a very nice color combination. Love how everything gets repainted, new belts and blades and immediately mows up some sticks. 😂
So glad you are back 😀😀😀😀😀
Always enjoy watching these, its kin of relaxing seeing the process an how good it looks at the end, well done!
Another good restoration. thank you for sharing
Not kidding. Have you ever considered restoring an airplane. I would love to see it.

Great video,a pleasure to watch. My son has just acquired a stiga pro, so I will be looking at a few videos for maintenance tips.
beautiful work. I am currently restoring a stiga park pro 16 and was shocked at the price of a new deck. Definitely worth restoring if possible.
Such a clean build, its satifying to see the transformation. Keep it up man!

A really good job you did.
But remember to never mow more than 1/3 of the height of the grass, otherwise you stress the grass.
Nice job, would be interesting to see the paint under the deck after you had mowed or maybe after mowing in the spring
Maybe bed liner for the mulching steel, we at work tend to use it on stuff , we sell them , ther a nightmare driving them backwards 😂
From looks of the deck they shure used that mower alot must of be a good machean

Would be okay if it has a smooth finish. If it doesn't have that the grass wil stick to it enormously.
Looks good only thing I would of done differently is sprayed some stone chip under the deck to protect it abit more and it should last longer then.
Looks great 👍. You should talk more often you have a great narration voice.
What power washer do you have
I have to do that too at my 110 Combi Pro.
