You have the only direct comparison of the KA-C to other concert ukuleles. I was really leaning toward the PWC but chickened out and got the KA-C. Your video put my mind at ease. I prefer the KA-C. Thank you for taking your time to do this! If you still have the ebony, it would be neat to hear that against the KA-C. I’m in Iowa...no sand here to gunk mechanisms. :D
Back to back comparisons was excellent. Playing a Luna concert for 3 years and thinking of moving a couple of steps up,your video was really helpful 🤙🎼 14:53
I do recognize the superior volume and the more ringing sound of the spruce top - but to me the (cheaper) mahogany laminate instruments sound more uke-ish :) I want a ukulele sound that doesn’t sound like a guitar (with a lack of bass strings..) I just found a secondhand CEM, and I hope the tone will match the beauty of it’s wood.
Last week I started dabbling with a beginner (toy level ULU) I received a couple years ago. It seemed a strange gift at the time & I spent nearly no time with it... But, add in a stay-at-home-pandemic... and "Hey, where is that thing again?" :) After a week, maybe ten hours of basics, and the purchase of a spark tuner thingy... here I am. Thank you SO MUCH for the analysis in this price range. Getting the PWC.
Aloha from Argentina. I've learned so much from your videos, I mean the old ones, really glad you are back. I have a Cordoba Protege u1 and a Gretsch g9120. what do you think? are these good options to have around?
Does this go with accessories like, gig bag, spare strings, snark tuner and straps. If not, then how much will it be the total.Thank you and I appreciate if you can reply. I am interested to get the KA-SCG.
Gloss makes it more bright which add clarity, satin makes it more natural and sounds mellow, maybe woody. So satin ones are better with vocals (well that also depends on the tonewood too but lets leave it aside) if you're playing with other instruments like harmonica satin would mix easier, and gloss ones more for finger picking, solo works, instrumental songs. Of couse it is not a rule but to me it is like that. If you wanna play jazz or pop you can change strings accordingly. Also you can try a bright tonewood like cedar with gloss surface with a low G tuning instead of high G, def worth considering about these (string and tuning) combinations than only deciding the wood when buying.
Hi ! I would like to buy a ukulele with a heavenly tone, I want to travel to the sound of my instrument 😁 I'm currently hesitating between the Pacific Walnut Concert (Kala) and the Concert Mkc (Kala) at the begening of the video. Which one would you recommend to me?
Aloha! I think the KA-PWC pacific walnut will have a much better tone than the makala, and it will also have the better tuning gears. A hui ho! - Jason

Aloha. Yes, I find demonstrations of only one uke at a time don't always showcase what one uke is that another one isn't. - jason
Thanks so much for your videos. I've done a lot of googling, and you are the best resource out there for someone looking for their first ukulele.
