This video makes me glad I bought the Topping DX9. While it technically has less features, the features it does have were well thought out and the UX/UI makes sense. It’s also documented well in the user manual if you aren’t sure how something works. Fiio take notes!
Topping DX9 is a good amplifier, and it is great for listening to music, giving emotions, but it is not suitable for computer games. The FiiO K19 is more versatile and has a different sound. The FiiO K19 has a smooth, precise, detailed and natural sound. If you are bored, then you can adjust the DSP equalizer, and there will be an emotional sound, and if you are tired of emotions and want a calm sound, you want to listen to music with a neutral pitch, then you can simply turn off the equalizer. The built-in filters also significantly affect the sound of the video. Through my nickname, you can listen to how FiiO K19 sounds with HiFiMan Arya Organic in computer games. It's a pity that many authors just share their words, but don't let you listen to them. It would be better to let them listen, and everyone would draw their own conclusions." Yep, I figured this one out! Took time to get it to recognize it. The first time this was delivered by Amazon I received the right box, but it was loaded with clay and paper to weigh the box down. The Amp has been removed. I had to battle with Amazon for a month to get my money back. I then ordered it again. This time it arrived. Despite the quirks, the PEQ software is the best! I can make my final PEQ adjustments on IEMs while listening live, in gain and frequency. This is the key to finding the sweet spot. For what I do, this is the best DAC AMP on the market. I will be at CanJam and talking to FiiO about the custom EQ naming. This is a problem. I export the settings, name the file and load it when listening to that specific IEM. They need more thought on renaming the custom settings for sure.
Great review. Quality of life is so important. The RME ADI can also save setups so when I switch between headphones and IEMs, I can double click one of the face buttons and have my EQ, gain, loudness, volume etc all set correctly. Incredible quality of life with the RME
"Which video specifically?" "Pretty much everything you've ever produced..." "That's fair" - HaHaHa : Self-deprecation always goes a long way. As does patience...by the bucket-load. Definitely a requisite for dealing w/ the FiiO's setting/remote/etc. Nightmare! Excellent review.
Thank you so much for this review! I've been considering getting the K19, but this video shows that it would be a lot more hassle to use than it'd be worth, especially for the price tag.
I get around these kind of issues by never buying these kind of products. It seems like they are made for masochistic geeks who are more into gizmos than actually enjoying music.
Great very informative and funny video. Suscribed! It amazes me that they obviously tried to attack the king of features, RME... If you do that, be sure that, just like RME, your features are useful and... Working flawlessly. So much functionnality issues for a piece of that price? Even if sounds great, it's a total no-go.
So I'll stick with the K11. To me, it has nothing left to be desired. I use both outputs (balanced/unbalanced), and enjoy the separated volume settings for speakers and headphones.
I upgraded from K11 which had been my daily for about 6 months to the K19 this week and it’s shown me that going from entry level to high-end can provide some perceivable differences in sound quality. I don’t know if it’s the dual ESS DACs or the more powerful THXAAA amp, or a combination of multiple components within the K19s design. but when doing my comparisons the dynamics, soundstage and imaging precision is on another level. I was skeptical at first thinking I’d made a midlife crisis purchase in the pursuit for the perfect end game device for both high res audio and gaming. But wow am I impressed so far.
Fiio has some products with the best concepts and specs, but they always come with very awkward user experiences. For example, I bought Fiio Q15 for the PEQ feature, but it can only use the PEAK filter! There are no shelves! That's ridiculous.
@@scientificaudiophile I guess that's how the industry (most companies) works for now. They keep releasing new stuff to catch customers' attention and desires instead of making a solid classic that can last for many years.
