Oh, I found another of ya channels hehe, actually I was going to get the D2 variant of the device ages ago and never got around to it. I charge Alkaline batteries all the time but yesterday I heard one pop in my computer mouse. It sounded like capacitor exploded and electrolyte came out. it also was hissing maybe gasses built up in it and it was hot as well in the room.

Hah yeah this is the newer one, where I decided to put not-food-related posts instead.
My brother has the D2 and his only complaint is a bit of capacitor squeal. The UMS2/4 are bloody excellent though.
OOoh nasty, yeah I think the issue with recharging non-rechargeables is that gas builds up, and it's a very diminished lifetime. Can definitely get you out of a bind though when you don't have a corded mouse haha

@@PlatimaTinkers Well with this it wasnt on the charger it was charged the day before but it would run the mouse and i would change it every second say . probably charged 50 times or more and gave out. never had that happen with any battery before.

@@steviebboy69 That's actually pretty interesting. Could have had high pressure inside it, and an ambient change in temp triggered the release maybe? Out of curiosity, how long did it last between charges? I'd found with normal alkaline batteries that they'd last 6 months or so, but after a 'full' charge then I'd only get about a month. NiMH batteries I don't recall testing.

@@PlatimaTinkers I was in the end changing them over every few days in a computer mouse so very low power draw.

@@steviebboy69 Oh yeah I'd just crack the shts then and get new batteries haha. So far though the Logitech set I have lasts 12-24mo per set of batteries, so pretty happy with that! (MK270r)

How about a recommendation on some good rechargeable batteries. I've tried duracell and Panasonic, couldn't get more that two days out of them after a full charge, and that's just using them to run my Amazon remote for FireCube or Firestick. Non rechargeable batteries last a month.

Hey yeah if you mean just regular AA's I always go for Eneloop. They're made by Panasonic but are pretty damn good!
If you're instead after 18650's then there are so many variations in spec, eg with or without the button top (charge controller), if they have built-in USB, the discharge rating, the total capacity rating, etc. Samsung are always a good winner, their INR range are solid, but I do definitely like these Nitecore ones.
What's your use case? I might have a similar use.
