  • Half the size of the UMS4 and promising to be a good lithium ion battery charger but I found numerous bugs that left me disappointed. It's a full featured charger but a tempermental battery charger. If these problems are inherent to the UMS2 then I would look for another charger.

It won't accept 100mA because the batteries have high IR, almost 400 mOhms. It might accept 200mA current, though. Good batteries are below 100 mOhms. Also you might try cleaning the contacts. Dirty contacts cause high internal resistance.
Regarding the 2A charging per slot, you are using NiMH, not Li. The charger can do max 10W combined with that 5V 2A Samsung adapter, which is NOT QC 2.0. A proper QC 2.0 would be 18W (9V x 2A or 5V x 3A).
So for Li you can do max 5W per slot, which would be 4.2V x 1-1.2 A.
For NiMh 1.5V x 2A is only 3W, which fits within 5W, so it allows it, no problem.
The 199mOhms for old cells means it is above 1999 mOhms, but I agree it should not display Good.

Can i charge 32700 rechargeable battery? Plz tell

Not officially. Although if you are creative you can rig wires and magnets to charge pretty much any size battery. Build your own battery cradle and wire it to one of the ports.

This has to be a faulty unit, right?

Only way to tell if it's systemic or a one-off problem is for people to report their experience.

I've only been using ums2 for 48 hours and I'm having the same problem.
for your fast charging issue, you need 9v 2a adaptor.

      That's unfortunate.

@@watdahel yeah, and i noticed when the buzzing sound happened, my nimh battery got warm really quick.

    • @watdahel

When that happens the device is malfunctioning and applying too high of a current that's why it overheats within seconds. It's best to remove battery right away if it's buzzing.

I have absolutely same problems! I regret buying it. Completely useless and bulky charger.

That's unfortunate. I returned mine and bought the cheaper Xtar VP4. Not as fancy but no problems so far.

I have an UMS4 which doesn't charge after a month of usage.
Got the UM2 but the *quick charge comes on first few times then always not there after a week. Original nitecore cable that came in the box and same charging brick which has quick charge in the beginning. Swap to my phone's qc3 brick and it also don't work.
Now I mainly use my xtar vc4s and miboxer c4.

I replaced it with the xtar vp4. Not as fancy.

This ums2 device is disaster, very poor qc and poor development issues. I try to charge 18650 or 21700 and %50 of time it is not start charging, until you have to off and on.

Any recommendation on a 2 bay charger?

    • @watdahel
      @watdahel  ปีที่แล้ว

If it has to be a two bay then try Xtar VP2, Xtar WP2s, Xtar WP2h. I bought the four bay VP4 to replace the Nitecore and I have no problems so far.

@@watdahel Good thing i didn't buy this charger. I'm still using the opus bt c100 one bay changer. I think the unit is almost 7 years already. I'm eyeing on the new xtar vc4h . Individual adjustable current on each channel.

thanks for this good video. What do u think of xtar vp4 plus dragon. I think to buy it. but there is an issue: it has 0.5A, 1A, 2A selectable currents. they say that it is good to charge between 0.5C and 1C. So it is bad to charge a 300mah battery with 0.5A current ? For example vc4sl has minimumm 0.25A selectable but i dont know if i can trust this charger about mesaurements or charging. i read some coments that it has problems about charging nimh batteries. If it is ok for li-ion , i think i can buy another panasonic for just nimh too.

The Xtar VP4 Plus Dragon is a nice charger. If you're gonna charge Li Ion batteries then this is one to get. It's best for the life of any battery to charge at the lowest current. You can pack more energy and the battery will last longer. Heat is the killer with batteries. However, some chargers sometimes fail to terminate charge when charging nimh at really low currents. In my experience, I get reliable termination when charging at a minimum of 0.5 A. Anything lower sometimes the batteries get overcharged and get really hot. If you must charge a 300 mAh battery then I suggest getting another charger.
