  • Truck is a 2007 Dodge 2500 SLT with a 5.9, I am swapping a 2019 Dodge 2500 6.7 and 68RFE. The goal is to retain all the newer electronics and build a controller and wiring harness that will allow the newer 6.7 talk to the older 5.9 TIPM and dash.

    Hello Steed, I have been following your threads for a while, awesome! I was hoping you could point a jarhead in the right direction; I am swapping a 2005 5.9 with a 2012 6.7 out of a donor

    • @SteedDolan
      @SteedDolan  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The early 2005s use PCI bus, I haven't developed anything to communicate with the PCI bus. Not yet anyways. I also haven't developed any code to work with the early 6.7s (2007.5-2012) . This was intentional because of how the 6.7 ECMs are setup. Starting in 2013 the ECMs are broken up into connector 1 and connector 2. One connector is dedicated to the engine and the other to the vehicle which makes it extremely easy to adapt the 2013+ ECMs to swaps. I also don't have to touch anything on the emissions side. Where if i am messing with ECMs from 2012 and earlier i would be selling you an engine harness and if something was omitted like a EGR valve I don't want to be caught up in deletes. Sticking with 2013+ I can sell you a harness that adapts the ECM directly to the vehicle and a bridge that just converts data so your cluster works.

    Just wondering I know this old video but I have a 2018 with bad 6.7 I have a 5.9 12v would it bolt up to the transmission also could you make the transmission shift correctly

    • @SteedDolan
      @SteedDolan  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The 68 will bolt to the 5.9. but in my case the CM2450B is controlling the 68. For me to control the 68 in your application. You will need a TCM from a 2007.5-08 Ram. These TCMs are external. I would also have to develop the code and harness for your conversion. If your in Colorado it's something I can do.

    Do you have to use DEF? I am guessing that the 6.7 basically believes it is a real engine so no DEF.

    • @SteedDolan
      @SteedDolan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Correct, ill have to get the DEF and EGR code deleted so it wont go into limp mode. But it'll still be emission legal for a 2007 year.

      Where you located? I haven't developed a 5R controller. I doubt it would be hard. The fastest and easiest way would be to get your truck. That way I can develop the wiring harness to be plug and play. The controller would need to talk to the Cummins and your vehicle. It would also be able to integrate the Cummins to the vehicle, this way your glow plug light, oil pressure, water temp, check engine light ect. All turn on like factory.

      My current wiring harness, controller and software is geared for the 2006-07 5.9s. The early dodges have a 1 wire bus that I haven't dug into yet. I don't believe my current setup would be compatible with the older Rams.

      No, most people swap the long block over and keep the 5.9 electronics. By doing this youll lose the ability to control the 6 speed transmission. Your left with a manual or the 47/48RE. I'm probably the only one running the new electronics and have everything talking to my dash. The new electronics are considerably better then the older stuff.
