Always disconnect your neutral on your battery when working in or around the engine area. With the fuel having leaked, always a potential fire hazard, if you acidentally shorted something. Safety first always. My wife has a 1987 cj7 and we always have an issue after driving ,things come loose, wiring gets hot and melts from engine etc, etc. The life of a jeep owner. Keep up with the good job .
Glad to know it's not just my jeep that gives me 3 projects for every one I start. Looking forward to seeing the cj running down the road! Keep the videos coming.
Man those drive shaft issues are rediculous. Just waiting to come apart. When I did my fluids I didn't know what previous owner did so I changed all of it to synthetic. My 80 CJ7 has a 304 V8 but I kind of like the idea of a straight six maybe modded some for more power. It is just fun to watch you guys working on the old jeep.
The very best thing I did to my cj was a Holley sniper. Completely night and day difference and not a terrible install. Bet you could convince Holley to “sponsor” that video.
I have a 85 CJ-7 and AMC had a lot of QC issues back in the day so its can be a challenge to get them all sorted. The engine in mine was completely done so i swapped it instead. The fuel pumps are all known to have that problem lots of times the mechanical pumps sit on shelves for a long time and the diaphragm can become brittle. They are also put together wrong lots of the time to so taking a pump apart and checking everything can be helpful as well. If it has the plastic valve cover they are know to have major porblems with leaking from the factory as they warp to easily and then leak.
I changed out 6 fuel pumps on my Cj5 all name brand units with the same problem... bad diaphragm and leaking from weep hole. Installed the US MOTOR WORKS USMP16843 from Rockauto and never had another problem
I'm jealous, my cj is at home and I'm out contracting. Anyway, I changed the yokes to u-bolt yokes on the axles and the transfer case. It gave me piece of mind with the stronger u-bolt yokes. Just my 2 cents.
My wife has a cj8 with the 4.2. We did the valve cover 2 times. Our issue now is I couldn't get the valve cover bolts to stay tight. So we recheck them every 3 weeks. Tried lock tight, and locking washers. Now I'm fighting the oil pan gasket and rear main seal. This is my 4th try to get it to seal. Also maybe once yall get the cj dialed in maybe do a cj wheeling day at crossbar?
Oh sweet you guys are okies as well. Runout has it I live there too but I don’t believe it because I work in West Texas so much. Anyways I am looking at a ‘78 CJ7 that looks good and supposedly runs real good but I’ll actually see it in person Monday. How do I tell what package it is? I can’t find where to look it up by the 13 digit VIN. Also I’d love to collaborate with you guys and learn from you if I buy it. I’m in Ardmore Ok area when home.
Every one of ya'lls videos makes me jealous, not for the sick jeeps, but for having that lift and a welder! What's the endgoal for the CJ? Just a fun little cruiser or will it end up being your race jeep for KOH 2025?
Frame and body are good except floor pans, engine and tranny and transfer case are good, nice jeep overall a little TLC and it will be a jewel, some big bucks and a lot of mods and it will make a great off-road toy. Are you sure your brake fluid isn't supposed to look like muddy water? LOL
I’ve been owning CJs for 40 years now….the problem with the fuel pump is probably due to the new pump had been sitting on the shelf for years and sryrotted
Off topic, but what part of Oklahoma is nice with lots of land? As I drove from Cali to Ft. Stewart Ga, the land was beautiful but once we hit Oklahoma City it was kind of like LA for me. The breakfast at Hatch in Downtown Oklahoma was the best.
If you ever decide to swap your engine please let me know. I live CA and engine in my 81 CJ7 needs to be replaced to the correct engine. Thank you CA…. Not.
By an xj and do 100% swap. Forget the oem Cj-7, except for the body and the dash. Keep the 4,2 crank and rods and make an stroker of the xj 4.0L. OEM Cj-7 is trash, but the design is everything.
Thanks for watching! Let me know in the comments what projects you all want to see!

Love watching you guys work together!! Looking forward to see the final product
To quote Eric O from SMA- "just because the parts are new , doesn't mean they are any good" !!
Cassie - your puppy is a good helper! 👍😉
🤣🤣🤣😂
I can already tell that this is going to be a great build.
Thanks! Its going to be a fun one, nothing crazyyy but a great project over time
@@JeepGearGadgets Most definitely. Keep up the great content.
Pretty impressive work figuring out how to get that tap to fit - that helicoil system is cool
This is my first time watching your videos. Love the CJ. I really want to get an 80’s Comanche.
Glad to know it's not just my jeep that gives me 3 projects for every one I start. Looking forward to seeing the cj running down the road! Keep the videos coming.
Just a little t.l.c. is all she needs. Awesome I love ❤️ jeeps they all need to.l.c. Just like we do. Lol

Excellent team work! Never get bored of watching your videos and always learning new stuff about Jeeps
This reminds me of the little 99 TJ I have it sat in my cousin’s yard for a few years and I had so much to do to it.
Nice work! Keep the projects coming along.
Love a good CJ build🎉
Use a block of wood to help push through material on the saw so you keep all digits. The CJ7 build is coming along well!
The very best thing I did to my cj was a Holley sniper. Completely night and day difference and not a terrible install. Bet you could convince Holley to “sponsor” that video.
I had an 85 and the best mod I did was to swap the head on the 4.2 for a 4.0 out of an XJ. More power and reliability.

Time for a fiberglass tub!
What a fun project!
Good stuff, but get those u-joints fixed first. A driveshaft letting go is no fun and costs $$$
Look forward to the next CJ episode
Use the cedar scented PB blaster for that rust hahahaha that’s what I do
the dog gets it @ 5:46

Yes! After seeing these, i think new driveshafts and yokes would be a worthwhile upgrade
13:47 bent shackle?

Hopefully you get the leaks under control! A CJ day is a great idea..

I went through 5 fuel pumps from O’Reilly. Use Napa auto parts

The lift has been an amazing addition! It will probably be a fun little cruiser for around town and ICE CREAM runs haha
Hello Dynatrac! One tons please!
Looks like a normal condition vehicle for it being 300 years old 😂

The rear driveshaft looks like it’s in backwards, the splined end goes on toward the transmission

Didnt think about that! Very good possibility
You pulled the alternator out while the battery was still connected
Nice work! Looking forward to seeing a topless video, the jeep of course!
Gotta get outside of OKC! We are right outside city limits (SE) and there’s nice land with rolling hills.
Hello Jasper! New motor please!
How about a 700r4?
Take a look at your front spring perches. I think the one on the passenger side is bent.
Lifting it soon?
In 2024 fuel pumps are hit and miss. Some work out of the box, some continue working. You have a bust diaphragm. I buy Carter brand, and they work.
Get a power master alternator and a new old stock fuel pump
Ever notice that all girls that drive Jeeps are good looking

❤❤❤👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Has anyone asked why the fuel pump appears to be upside down? Not saying it’s wrong, but I’ve never seen one that way.
I need to go ol'skol and just do CJ7 I'm tired of the fuelie $hit
time to ls4 swap this jeep.

Spray water on the Pully, if it stops that the one
