Jeep Wrangler TJ ignition cylinder replacement/ fix stuck ignition key

I had a persisting issue of my key not turning what so ever, therefor i couldnt crank the Jeep. Here is a to the point video on how to get the key to turn so the cylinder can be removed and replaced.

Just started having this issue on my 00 TJ. Between your video and another guys video I think I can get r fixed. I was so pissed trying to go home from work and the dam key wont turn. After 10 minutes of fighting with it, it managed to turn. Headed to the parts shops on tuesday for a lock cylinder. Thanks for the video!

I have the same problem and how come my steering wheel does not lock is my question on a 2003 Grand Jeep Larado.

Look into the Ignition Actuator Pin. o3djeeps has great videos about the ignition switch , ignition actuator pin and lock cylinder. I just replaced my actuator pin on my TJ.

Now you have a different key for the doors and the ignition?

Yes, but its still soft-top, so the door locks dont really do much.

Wait I’m also confused. You had to get a whole new cylinder? or your got a new key made that matches previous key or literally a whole new key?

@@dianaa2910 i changed the whole cylinder. The cylinder had went bad not the key.
