    Love it, just completed a M57 + 8HP myself. If your not already, grab a air con front end.... Adds about another 50/75mm of space up front and can get easier access to belts / pulleys etc..

      Just saw the video on your channel, very cool ! By Air-con front end I presume you mean the front grill/fascia. We plan on using the Kahn Grill so will have to see how it goes.

    Build is coming together nicely, will look OEM when done. I am keen to follow along as I am slowly working towards an 8HP swap for my 80 Series LC and been thinking may be worth doing an M57 swap rather than rebuilding 1HDT. The problem it solves other than price of the DomiWorks engine adapter it opens the door to using the CANTCU rather then modding 8HP for TurboLamik.

      Thank you! We are going to restomod a lot of things on the car but will strive to have the essence of the defender.
      Speak to will at house of torque who may be able to hook you up with the adaptors at a reasonable price. You with need a transfer case adaptor too.
      We have an 80 series in line after this so look forward to seeing how yours turns out !

      @@binoyjohn920 House of Torque is on the list for M57 ECU and maybe Engine adapter, Mckinnons Cruisers for drop in M57 to 80 engine mounts and 8HP cross member, Fusion Fab Industries for 8HP to HF1A transfer adapter however it uses a spud shaft, there is an option to go LT230 transfer case.

      I have heard there another company working on a HF1A / 2A transfer adapter that uses a replacement transfer input shaft rather than spud shaft which will reduce the overall package length.

      @@DSteyr what would be the advantage of doing it this way? Just seems like more work with having to open the transfer case. I assume you would have to modify the driveshaft/prop shaft length either way..

      @@binoyjohn920 Six of one, half a dozen of the another, I have not confirmed the measurements myself read in one of the forums gearbox cross member bolt location differs between the manual and auto chassis and the 8HP70x is a tad bit longer than the manual H150F so keen to keep the transfer as close as original as possible. Spud shaft will get the job done but it seems like an extra ware and tear point. Replacing the input shaft it not a bit deal unless you are buying a NOS transfer as any 2nd hand transfer will be 20 odd years old so the drive shaft seals shoud be replaced anyway. If do pull the trigger on a 2nd hand X5 suspect would also look to acquire a good 80 rolling chassis and build on it as as an Extra Cab 80 with 300mm chassis extension would float my boat and down under any mod will need to be engineered so you may as well do the lot and maybe GU transfer and diffs.

      Thanks ! We used a mount kit, however since the PO had a Toyota engine in it, we had to make some changes.

      Yes, would require an oil cooler.
