If I can ever afford a new truck, it will definitely have them. Mega cab, Cummins, Rambox. That's my dream. I had the same thought as you, one side for straps, tools, and chains; keep the other one clean and empty for whatever you might need. I would switch sides though. My reason: if you have to pull over and mess with your load, you don't want to be standing with your back to traffic while you get stuff out of the box.
Damn right they are worth it. I love mine. One side has tools that live in there, the other stays empty and carries the junk of the day. They are the single best option I have ever had on truck. I have never needed more room in the bed either.
Love the Ram Box. Next truck will be a Ram and I will 100% be looking to get a truck with the Ram box. I've seldom used 90% of my trucks bed and would work around the loss of a bit of room.
Great idea of putting the GoPro in the Rambox. I've been wondering if they go out when you close. I'm got a 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie with the Ramboxes and multi-function tailgate. Love it!
I have 2 Rams and I absolutely love the Ram Box. I recently got the new Ram dually and I really miss the storage and conveinience of the Ram Box. I would think the massive fenders on the dually would better lend themselves to this additional storage but they on not available in this configuration.

I’ve now owned two rams trucks with ram boxes I would not buy a truck without them. If you’re looking at a ram, do yourself a favour and get these ram boxes. They are amazing.
i have a 2015 with Ram Boxes and everything still works as it should. only had to replace the rubber plugs in the bin bottoms and the top on the bed rail has faded from the sun. you get better plugs from the local plumbing supply or hardware store for 0.18 each instead of 14.00 at the dealer.
Not gonna lie… I bought my truck which has them & MFT (which at the time I thought was stupid) because I had to have it and it was on the lot that day, it had everything else I wanted. 2 years later I love both of the features. I store hunting stuff that needs to stay dry during hunting season (like my shotgun) and a handful of tools. Can be a cooler. They are really handy. My ONLY gripe is that the body panels on ram boxes DO NOT line up at all & on an 80k truck I think that is kind of cheesy. That said, I will absolutely get them on my next truck too. They are awesome.
I too at first was not interested in the ram box in my next truck, the power wagon. This video confirmed my decesion to get to get it after all. Frees up storage space for a first aid kit , fire extingusher, & other very small items underneath cab back seat leaving storage of larger bulky items examples chainsaw & power tools for the boxes ! Great to know light will shut off when when closing lid ! Have you had a atv in the bed, if so how was the side fit ? Any water leak into the ram boxes ? What make is the bed cover ? yeah I get pretty frustrated when people at a business just don't care and waste my time like it has no value its sad to say but there are too many people out there that don't care about others or have pride in good customer service, but I have had no leaks the water in the passenger side is cause I had it filled with ice then drained it recently, and the bed cover is made by truxedo I made an install vid on it if you are interested, and I don't currently have a small enough ATV for a truck bed but I would like to get one and try it out.

Bought my first RamBox in 2012 - - Just got another one I would not buy another truck without them ! I can still carry sheets of plywood and drywall ( just the same as a regular box ) I put a BakFlip cover on it - - Could Not be happier

Just picked up a 2017 Rebel with Ram boxes and love it. Your channel is awesome! Any ideas for a rack that can carry some kayaks and gear and not look like crap? Doesn't seem like there are many options for the ram box. Keep up the great videos

As a contractor those Ram boxes might just make having a truck bearable. Trucks are the worst for contractors because you can not keep them organized and you need to climb up and down that tailgate 20 times a day. Vans are way better BUT truck cabs are way nicer. I wish someone would combine the niceness of the truck cabins with the usability of the van.
I think the inside swinging toolbox is better because I don't like how it looks messes up smooth outside side and someone can easily pry it open and take your snap on tools also with the swinging toolbox it'll be inside the locking hard bed cover and you can easily remove it if needed.

I’m not sure if you can access it from under the truck but I know people have unscrewed the tubs and lifted them out so maybe remove the hardware and pop it up enough to access the switch
I have the Ram boxes on my 2019 and the fit of the door does not align with the body. There is no adjustment to the door. I’m taking mine in on Monday to have it replaced. They said it is a very common problem with the doors. I’ll let you know how it turns out.
Why people call this bad side boxes a “RAM boxes”? I have those boxes in 2002 on my Avalanche. I throw in those boxes all lose staff: towing hitch ball, harnesses, tie down straps, braking bar, some tools, road flares, mosquito nets for the window, rain suit, gloves, and this staff in one box/ Other box is empty.
One problem with these boxes- you have to empty them from time to time, to remember what staff you have there.

Biggest draw back is the space they take up in the bed of the truck. When you are loading 4 ft wide drywall/plywood while it fits it's so much easier without the ram boxes. Not a big deal for the weekend do it yourself guy but for a guy that loads these materials daily , I'd rather have the tool box than the ram box. Just my opinion.
Hammerdown Motorsports Just tried Rams inventory search- exactly 2 rebels within 150 miles with the boxes- out of 147 rebels (2020) total. Seems crazy as much effort as they put into advertising them!
I have the ram box and I like it. But a few downsides to point out: accessories are a lot harder to find in some ways. It’s hard to find accessories for the ram box, unless you buy directly from Mopar. You can’t use a camper shell, because then the boxes won’t open, and there’s nowhere to really attach it. Same for bed racks, there’s only like 2 people making them to fit the ram box, and one of them is over 2000 dollars. The bed is narrower, but it’s still enough to fit plywood or drywall. Otherwise, I like it. I just use them for stuff I would have used a toolbox for, so I’m just trading bed width for bed length.
hi, sorry for asking, but the 110w outlet in the ram box, is it powered by a separate battery or from the main car battery? And if it the latter, is it possible to connect a separate for it so you don't drain main one ? thank you very much:)
There is a switch in the cab to activate it but the main power source is the truck battery I don’t believe there is a second one unless you have an etorque but I’m sure it would cut out before it drained your battery

It really depends on what your needs are mine I use to keep out rain and snow so I got the Truxedo Xport and it works pretty good for 500 bucks, if security is what you are after Perigon and Roll N lock are pretty good too but more money

Can give more detail if anyone wants to know. It was just a freak accident that happened and now I got to get that fixed 🤦🏼♀️
My only concern about the rambox is in the future is that a spot where water can get into and start to rust it's just I like to maintain and try to keep my vehicles as long as possible and if any buddy who knows who's had Dodge trucks or I seen people with them know that the older rims are known to rust extremely bad around the rear wheel wells badly so is this a another future problem
Joseph Malinowski the ram box is plastic and I guess time will tell where these ones will rust the 3rd gen ones had a bad design that collected salt and cause rust but hopefully the 5th gen will be better
@@HammerdownMotorsportsUSA I had the third gen and had it repaired buy a body shop and within a year it started to rust again I've had three total Ram pickups I still have a 2001 Ram diesel 2500 which I upgrade it to the 3500 suspension and Gale Banks exhaust Turbo upgrade and the six shooter programa it's a beast I can pull a house down with that and a 2016 Ram Sport but I've been recently looking at the 2020 Ram Warlock I love that Rebel you own the interior on that truck is just beautiful but I've yet to take the Warlock for you test drive but I will be purchasing a new Ram pickup soon but I do think if I didn't have the 04 Ram I would even be thinking about the rest but that was a killer if you take your hand and reach under the bed you can feel two holes where the manufacturer could probably drill out the holes for the dual pickup trucks maybe that's where the water gets in
I can see how nice they are but the bed space they take away is definitely not worth it in my opinion, not even sure if my tv would have fit back there
because the eco diesel is the biggest pile of junk I have ever encountered that why they fully redesigned it but the jury is out if they made it better plus having a diesel is a pain with the extra cost to maintain and teir 4 emissions I'll stick to my Cummins for the Diesel
Random question: have you had your tailgate randomly open? I have heard there were recalls on 2018 models tailgates opening. But on my 2019 rebel it has randomly open twice not sure how. Parked it at work yesterday and coworker said my tailgate was opened. Super weird but hasnt happend since.

Love my Ramboxes!! I'm a first time RAM owner (Former Dodge/Ram hater) and the ramboxes are right up there as one of the best options on my truck.
I kept hunting and hunting for over six months for a used white level 2 Rebel with a Rambox and finally hit the jackpot last week! LOVE the Rambox

Chevy Avalanche had this feature. Shame they discontinued it. Plus you can make it an 8ft bed when you lower the back seats

Get some spray foam insulation in that medal building....will make a huge difference

Yeah eveytime it rains or wash the truck the driver side box gets water in it and I can’t see any way to adjust it

Do you think the Decked drawer system would be a decent option to replace the ram box? I keep looking at it and can’t decide if I want to pull the trigger.
they look like a good option if you need a bunch of storage but the take away the depth of your bed depends if that's an issue for you or not

Was looking at honda inbed trunck ..its wider but if you have stuff in the bed ..ram box wins.

It really depends on what your needs are mine I use to keep out rain and snow so I got the Truxedo Xport and it works pretty good for 500 bucks, if security is what you are after Perigon and Roll N lock are pretty good too but more money

@@HammerdownMotorsportsUSA oh I was just curious if anyone with a 2012 Dodge ram 1500 has had any issues with the rambox. I've had three issues last one happened this past week & it was really bad. Can give more detail if anyone wants to know. It was just a freak accident that happened and now I got to get that fixed 🤦🏼♀️

You'd have to get a whole new bed with them built-in.

My only concern about the rambox is in the future is that a spot where water can get into and start to rust it's just I like to maintain and try to keep my vehicles as long as possible and if any buddy who knows who's had Dodge trucks or I seen people with them know that the older rims are known to rust extremely bad around the rear wheel wells badly so is this a another future problem
Joseph Malinowski the ram box is plastic and I guess time will tell where these ones will rust the 3rd gen ones had a bad design that collected salt and cause rust but hopefully the 5th gen will be better
@@HammerdownMotorsportsUSA I had the third gen and had it repaired buy a body shop and within a year it started to rust again I've had three total Ram pickups I still have a 2001 Ram diesel 2500 which I upgrade it to the 3500 suspension and Gale Banks exhaust Turbo upgrade and the six shooter programa it's a beast I can pull a house down with that and a 2016 Ram Sport but I've been recently looking at the 2020 Ram Warlock I love that Rebel you own the interior on that truck is just beautiful but I've yet to take the Warlock for you test drive but I will be purchasing a new Ram pickup soon but I do think if I didn't have the 04 Ram I would even be thinking about the rest but that was a killer if you take your hand and reach under the bed you can feel two holes where the manufacturer could probably drill out the holes for the dual pickup trucks maybe that's where the water gets in

I can see how nice they are but the bed space they take away is definitely not worth it in my opinion, not even sure if my tv would have fit back there
is your tv bigger that a 4x8 sheet of plywood cause that fits no problem

Why did you choose this trim level v a diesel platform ?
because the eco diesel is the biggest pile of junk I have ever encountered that why they fully redesigned it but the jury is out if they made it better plus having a diesel is a pain with the extra cost to maintain and teir 4 emissions I'll stick to my Cummins for the Diesel

Random question: have you had your tailgate randomly open? I have heard there were recalls on 2018 models tailgates opening. But on my 2019 rebel it has randomly open twice not sure how. Parked it at work yesterday and coworker said my tailgate was opened. Super weird but hasnt happend since.
hmmm no i have never had that happen but mine doesn't have the electric release on the fob not sure if that is the difference

There is a recall on this. See your dealer for the fix. It is one small plastic piece they have to replace.

@@Pjw350 no I like the large crew cab If I haul my side by side or any large items I use my utility trailer I beat that thing like a rented mule and keep my bed nice
You can buy them with a crew cab longer 6’4” bed. If i ever upgrade my 04 i think i would get the longer bed
