Be glad that you have that cage-fight commentator! Remember that the greatest American political pundit that I've ever seen was Keith Olbermann and he started out as a sportscaster on ESPN.
We’ve got to get away from these 5 minute screaming matches and move towards long form conversations like this. And people wonder why there’s no nuance and understanding anymore.
Thatll end the worst and funniest parts of the chrrent debate format. Frankly I don't think any of Bernie's policies would have made it through Congress (probably for the best, given how inefficient the American government is at spending money). Still, though, he's way more competent than Biden, and actually believes in what he fights for. I prefer him over Biden and Harris - quite a statement considering that I'm a Libertarian.
Joe is a great interviewer. He sat down with Bernie, asked him about his policies, and no one interrupted Bernie when he explained what he wanted to do. Now sure you may not agree with him but I respect this guy more for having a civil conversation with good voice volume explaining his policies instead of on the debate stage, getting interrupted by his debatees and invigilators and then roasting them, turning a huge decision for the country as some soap opera. All candidates should have an interview as good as this one so we can get a good indication of what these people want to do with the country.

Subhan Malik part of the problem is that most people will not sit down and listen to such interview. They would rather ingest a 3 second soundbite or read a sensationalized headline. The majority of Americans are too wrapped up in their daily lives that they ignore politics.
I like Joe's Podcast but I think we need to realize that just sitting down and having a conversation, even if it's nice to listen to, isn't the same as critical journalism. Sometimes interviewees mislead the audience and get away with it because they are charismatic and their public uninformed. Then again, the Democratic debate definitely is the worst kind of media circus.

@@lmao4982 well for one thing, he'll say something like "look around the world, look at the nordic countries" when talking about universal health care, yet his universal health care plan looks nothing like the nordic countries or the countries with the best heath care in the world. Why doesnt he promote a Beveridge or Bismark model? Then there's his connection with socialism, which is either ignorant, insane or evil considering the overwhelming evidence of the failures of socialism. He goes between defending actual socialism and confusing social democracy with socialism. Or worse, misrepresenting things like police and the post office as socialist programs. There's his ludicrous ideas of a nation wide $15 minimum wage, open border policy, and his underlying philosophy of just promising to throw trillions of dollars at every and any problem. What I don't understand is how people who support him can't understand that it's not enough to just simply recognize a problem, you need a coherent plan that has evidence that it will bring about improvement. His attempts to solve problems aren't the problems, it's his proposals.
Not really. I can come up with very strong counter-arguments to his claims, and he also uses analogy with the US and other countries that have completely different cultures and economic reliance than the US. I will give him credit where it's due on how he points out that the US government has a huge lobbying and bribery problem among local governments, the house, the Executive and his/her subsequent departments. However, his diagnosis of how this came to be a problem, and his solutions to the problems only serve to worsen the condition rather than fix it. Mr. Sanders is a man with good intentions in his policy but a set of solutions that fall flat in practice.
@bobby sternlicht enough is never enough. This time they had to have Obama tell everybody but Biden to drop out and Warren to stay in order to kneecap Bernie's %s. On top of a relentless propaganda campaign on all networks, widespread voter suppression and voter fraud, with discrepancies between exit polls and results that would usually warrant UN intervention, which happened basically in every single state where primaries were held. And the cherry on top that was the DNC keeping voters hostage and refusing to do vote by mail or delay primaries in the middle of a pandemic, playing chicken with the lives of Americans, so that Bernie could drop out even quicker and not develop any leverage, because they knew he would flinch and not gamble with human lives. I sincerely hope Trump steals the election, since the %s tell us Biden should win with an ok margin, maybe fucking libs all over the country will finally realize that the "safe choice" is actually just what the billionaire class wants.
As a moderate conservative, I love Bernie sanders like and uncle and would vote for him if he's ever on the ballot. Why? Because his platform is IMPROVING THE LIVES OF AMERICANS. Unlike any Republican or Democrat.

Heya, "I'm a US person currently living in Canada" here. Trying to find an ENT doctor in Canada was a 5 month wait, even when I decided to go to a private practice. If I did the normal route, it was an 8 month wait. And this was pre-corona. I really sympathize with some of Bernie's ideas because they sound really nice on paper but I don't think those ideas are viable with large human populations. I can't get behind Bernie because (at least, in my circle of friends) every person who is pro-Bernie keeps pointing at countries like Canada or Sweden, ignoring the fact that Sweden is 1/30th the population of the US. And Canada is 38 million. Canada, in my experience, has free-ish health care but its health care is fairly disfunctional if you really need help. If the US also did universal health care, why should I expect the US to pull it off better than Canada does?

In Europe, universal health service is a right that serves all citizens without exception, but there are also private health services that exist and those who freely choose or can pay for it have their private insurance. It is a model that works in many advanced countries in the world, I do not understand that arrogance of many Americans to pretend that their model is better when they ignore and despise what has existed and has worked for decades in many countries, much better than in the United States. If having a public health service is "socialism" with the same logic it should be considered "socialism" to have an army paid for with public money. Why is that so difficult for Americans to understand?.
America, bought and paid for by think tanks. And we're to stupid to find facts. In dying coal area most everyone is worried about estate tax that thanks to the kock brothers is now labeled the death tax. Oh my God it will kill America. And only really affects 20k families. But at the same time you’re healthcare expense will decrease significantly and every study says that the tax increase will be like a tenth of current healthcare costs for the average family so it’s well worth it.
Nomecreona, one of the biggest reasons for this is that the uneducated masses, particularly on the right, but not exclusively, have far too long been told that they deserve to keep their wages and if they pay into this system, they're paying to help someone who'd have otherwise just been a drain on the system and taken the easy way out of things by just being a user of the free system (namely the disenfranchised, blacks, poor, migrants, etc,) . What's never told most of these people is that if you took a few small percentage points off each of the top 10% of the wealthiest people, not only would you never change their quality of living but they'd pay for most all of this country's ails in spades. The greatest period of prosperity this country ever knew was the middle 20th century under FDR when the top 10% paid 90% and we moved forward at a faster rate and were stronger than ever previously.

That is just the power of money. Bernie, and those like him, fundamentally threaten the power structure. We think we understand this level of power, but in reality I do not believe that most people *can* fully understand. This is a power structure that can infiltrate the highest level security systems to assassinate anyone who stands on their toes (Epstein). Who can set you up for crimes or snap their fingers to have your or your family members life ended. Most of the money in the world is OLD money. Historically influential’s families who made the rules, rigged the systems, and own the careers of the politicians that THEY give you to choose from. They own the media, they own everything including you (more than likely) by virtue of debts which are now basically required to live and function in THEIR system. It’s absolute power. You only get to hold an opinion publicly because they ALLOW it. If these extremely powerful people wanted you silent, you would be silenced. TH-cam deplatforming you, your account being locked, your bank accounts being seized.. literally all of your ability to function in society is ultimately controlled by the super rich. There is nothing you can do about it. Mark Zuckerberg is an example of power in money, because he (via his company) has chocked out any successful new social media platforms. Amazon, another example, has data-mined small business owner’s products sold on their platform, stolen the product designs, then undercut the businesses with the knock off items (amazon brand), and finally… buried the original seller’s product listings to promote their low quality version of the products. This is done on an insane scale.. all-the-time by this company and there is no accountability. The entire game is rigged.
I feel like instead of a debate between the two candidates, we should have a 1 on 1 interview with each candidate, both being asked the same exact questions. This way they could actually say a sentence without being interupted.
Bernie is correct. I have lived my whole life in Canada. It’s not perfect up here but you will never hear a Canadian worried about losing their Medicare if you lose your job or want to change jobs. The insurance companies are too powerful in the US.
You should see how excellent the health care is in Scotland, not England Wales or Norn Ireland. Scotland simply has the best healthcare. If I walk into the SNHS tomorrow with a broken ankle, I will not have to spend a single pound on the care I received from the fantastic nurses and doctors. It's truly fantastic.

@@ThatTraderExodus With regard to the always asked "but what about the money" question, here are some things for you to consider; 1- In 2018, for the first time in over a century, the richest 400 families in the United States pay a lower tax rate than the poorest 50% of the country. This is thanks in large part to the tax cuts the orange boy has been pushing through. 2- Also in 2018, there are 60 companies on the Fortune 500 list, with a combined total income of almost 80 billion dollars, who's total effective tax rate was -5%. In other words, the vast majority didn't pay any corporate taxes of any kind, and some of them even got tax rebates. 3- The United States military spending budget in 2018 was 648.8 billion dollars. The combined total spending of the next 8 highest countries is 655.4 billion dollars; those countries (in order of spending) include China, Saudie Arabia, India, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan. You know, I tend to lean more to the right with gun control and market economy, but I do believe Bernie is absolutely right on the money when it comes to health care and it should be a right- not a commodity. I am gonna have to watch the entire podcast cuz it’s quite interesting to hear what Bernie has to say.
Except that it flies in the face of everything the constitution and bill of rights stand for? A right is something that you have from birth, it is inalienable; the only way it can be removed is by someone else's intervention, to which the government is there to protect you. You have a right to free speech, no one can stop you from speaking. But TH-cam doesn't have to subsidize every youtuber because they have free speech; TH-cam is providing a service. Likewise, you have a right to life. If you get cancer, the hospital is not "denying your right to life" by forcing you to pay for chemo; they are providing a service. Unless someone actively exposes you to carcinogens, then you have a legal case. If you force healthcare as a right, you declare that doctors and hospitals are no longer owners of their own labor, violating their right to property.
@@austind7232 it's a fair concern, and a valid criticism on the jargon being used. Would you agree though, that it is fair to say that we as a people have a responsibility to protect the welfare (health-wise) of our peers? That it strikes fear into the hearts of a great number of Americans is very worrying. From an outsiders perspective, I see a nation utterly committed to rights and freedoms and yet one of the two most fundamental human rights (education and healthcare) seems to be a step too far. Very weird indeed.
The Republican party has managed to somehow convince a large portion of rural and working class America that it is for them, when in reality it is the party for the wealthy elites. Republicans do not want to improve the quality of life of the average person, but progressives like Bernie do. Establishment democrats are pretty much Republicans who are slightly more liberal when it comes to social causes and want slightly higher taxes

@Chad_Lawton You know I hear that line of thought from alot of conservatives. I want you to take that thought process and apply it towards any other "radical" moment in history. I had to be a slave why is it fair for my friends kids to not be slaves. I didn't have the right to vote why is it fair for future women to have the right to vote. I had to file bankruptcy for healthcare why is it fair for future generations to have healthcare etc etc. I mean would my loans being reimbursed be nice? Sure but if given the choice I would pick future generations having tuition free college over me getting my loans paid off and its not even a second thought.
@Chad_Lawton I mean if you want to split hairs but my point remains the argument that because this happened to me its unfair for future generations to have it is a bad borderline dumb argument. Also I disagree about education being consensual. You are basically taught by society from a young age education is important. Then when you enter the workforce most decent paying jobs today ask for what.... A college education. Calling it consensual is like saying forcing a drowning man to bankrupt himself for a life raft is his choice. Also "did the patient shop around for services" dude its fucking healthcare. Ur not picking a couch if ur sick usually there's only 1 maybe 2 ways to fix it. Like if I get cancer my only 2 choices are basically surgery and chemo. If my kidneys fail my only choice is dialysis and transplant. This is why I can't take libertarians like penn seriously when it comes to economics. Everything works in theory but when you actually apply it it fails miserably.
Bernie Sanders policies are what European Social Democrats have implemented. Opponents would shout him down if he dropped the Socialist title now because he joined a group while in college but Bernie is not promoting the socialist goal of nationalizing industry. The thing about this is that these things are complicated because of the system we have in place. Everyone loves the idea of free healthcare, but a doctor in Sweden makes $90,000/year. A nurse in Sweden makes $40,000/year. We all know doctors make a lot, but there are plenty of nurses who make well over $120,000/year here in the US -- and we still have a nurse shortage. Joe is a great interviewer. He sat down with Bernie, asked him about his policies, and no one interrupted Bernie when he explained what he wanted to do. All candidates should have an interview as good as this one so we can get a good indication of what these people want to do with the country.

Joe is a smart guy, but he's not very wise. What he believes as true is often from what he's heard from others, whom he believes are reasonable. But he's not wise because he lacks certain control, he might alter his words and actions to something more convenient for him, and won't confront himself about it. Joe Rogan is all about what is convenient to say when something that matters to him is at stake. But if he really doesn't like someone or something, he'll go full blast and it won't be convenient to be respectful anymore.

I’m saying, we spend more per person that your country and we have a worse and more expensive healthcare system.
Americans are generally very uneducated. Most of them don't even know that countries like the Netherlands exist. I got asked if we have cars and electricy in Germany multiple times...
I guess you need to think about it from a perspective other than your own. If you look at someone like me, I’m a healthy young adult. So increasing my taxes to pay for other people’s health care costs is a lose-lose situation for me. I don’t need someone to pay for my healthcare needs. Why should I be paying for everyone else’s? Especially since the poor and elderly get free health care in America. Not saying America has a great healthcare system. But nationalizing it here wouldn’t make it better. Just more expensive

@Weazel Mate, we already pay exorbitant amounts of money for Healthcare. What's your arguement?
And it's not like it's efficient. Have you ever had to go to a public hospital? Ever get billed at a private hospital? Neither one is any good.
What alternative is there then? Keel over and die? 🤔 If only there was a different way of going thru hospitals that didn't involve selling my kidneys to pay the bill... hmmm....
Weazel are YOU stupid or something? Do you even know how our healthcare system works? Or why it’s so expensive? It’s because the prices on everything are INFLATED AND UNREGULATED! If our taxes were paying for the services, the government is paying the bills. They will regulate those prices. No more $200 for a bed pan when you visit a hospital. Nobody will pay anything for healthcare. Instead of getting a 100k bill or more if you have a serious illness. Which odds are on America, pretty high. Heart Disease, Cancer....you know how much that costs to treat? With insurance? WITHOUT INSURANCE? So a slight tax raise, is nothing in the long run. Who’s stupid now?
Weazel oh by the way, the average cost of HEALTHCARE AND HEALTH INSURANCE IS $321 per month for a single person and $833 per month for a family! PER MONTH! You think taxes will go up MORE THAN THAT per month? Stupid dumb ass. They have already broke it all down.
Weazel you just said SUPPLY AND DEMAND??? 😂😂😂 You obviously have never been to a Hospital before and received an itemized bill. The “Supply and Demand” effect doesn’t apply in this, the hospitals have slowly increased prices on EVERYTHING even cheap mass produced pieces of plastic because it’s unregulated!!! And most people use INSURANCE to pay for it. Insurance companies shell out the money no questions asked. There is no reason Dental and Medical procedures cost what they do in the US. It’s an unregulated market that’s out of control. Period. The doctors even know that. Thanks for your research paper long response but it’s invalid. We need REGULATION. This method is already working in MOST MODERN INDUSTRIALIZED NATIONS. Nations that don’t police the world with their oversized Military and Nations that actually TAX their Billionaires.
Excellent interview. Joe - I don't always agree with you, but thank you for just let Bernie speak in the way that sooo many mainstream media people don't and won't.
As a European, I still find it amazing that many Americans see the national health service as something negative that is going to take away their freedom.

2- Also in 2018, there are 60 companies on the Fortune 500 list, with a combined total income of almost 80 billion dollars, who's total effective tax rate was -5%. In other words, the vast majority didn't pay any corporate taxes of any kind, and some of them even got tax rebates.

It was a good podcast. Wait until you hear him talk about the way debates and tv time are regulated everywhere but the US.

And bernie will tax him self. Rich social democrats in scandinavia has castels an a lot of cars to but think of ther fellow man to. Some cheats, ther will allways be cheats and honest people. But i do think and belive Bernie is not one of the cheats due to his constant in his 40yeas of healtcare campaining.
s n I’m curious have you looked at his tax plans? You can check out his website, people making over 100k wouldnt really be fucked. Their tax rate would go back to what it was just a couple years ago pre trump plus have a 4% tax for Medicare which would eliminate all their premiums. Most people making under 250k would actually SAVE money under his plan
How did the dems pick Biden over this guy? I don’t agree with him on everything but at least he’s cognitive.
Because Bernie goes against the interests of big companies and media. His policies are a danger to the "establishment" set by those wealthy companies, organization, people, etc. (Hollywood, Disney, etc). He might be part of the Democratic party like Biden, but Biden bends the knee for the companies that pretty much funds the DNC. The same happened when Bernie and Hillary ran for the Presidency back in 2016. Hillary won because she bent the knee.
Lobbyists like he’s talking about were against him
Use ur brain
People on both sides labeled him as a communist when he's not to fear monger people into voting for a centrist like Biden. They were also concerned with the GOP labeling them as communists if Bernie ran, which still happened when Biden was running
Because Biden is a diet Republican.
I honestly like it when politicians just talk, normally. Like you’re just having a normal conversation. Instead of yelling and screaming, they’re just talking.
everything went downhill in 2016 the day Hillary won over Bernie
Just want to say: thank you Joe, for creating conversation on all sides of the political spectrum and offer a better format for ideas to be shared.
If only the fanbase could also respect the openness and listen and think instead of automatically condemning anyone who doesn't allign.
Hilariously I know tons of people who insist Joe Rogan's a 'fascist' because he'll dare talk to people they disagree with, completely ignoring the fact he'll have Bernie Sanders on just as quickly and agree with him on most issues, where he'll offer reasoned arguments to the people they don't like.
Jay Boogie lame fuck 🤣😒
Look at all the top comments. Who is condemning who? Not agreeing with someone doesn't mean you are condemning them. I'd do DMT with Bernie Sanders any day and I'm not a leftie.

Nothing he said is, the detracting comments seem to be from people who did not watch the podcast in it’s entirety because they are confused about things Bernie has already explained.
Some folks like keeping their own money, Bernie thinks your money is the government's to spend.
@Corrupt Cop God I want that money back as well. You can't justify spending you agree with by saying 'oh they already spent money I didn't agree with.' Fuck outta here with your idiot fallacies of false equivalence.
@Corrupt Cop God Now you are projecting. I dont support subsidizing the banks. My logic is clean and consistent, govt out of private enterprise and nearly nonexistent taxes. On the side is you, you support massive govt and massive spending provided its on things you like. So you have much more in common with people who bailed out the banks than I do.

"Bernie: We want a good health care system"
*The media: That's so radical!*
no it's the wanting to send Conservatives to the Gulags that's so radical...you've got it all wrong.
Making a government-funded healthcare system that tax payers could afford would involve forcing a salary reset on all providers.
Why does canada have a good healthcare system? because we foot the bill when it comes to military spending, canada doesn’t need to blow money because we protect them. They can use that saved money on healthcare...
@@calvinloomis2583 I don't necessarily know that it is that good. I've heard horror stories about the Canadian health system including long, long, long wait times. To the point where it's life and death...

I think I have been fooled by the media about Bernie. He seems to have a good heart for the people. As a Trump supporter I can definitely understand how the main stream media can change the narrative about anybody. I had to do my own research about President Trump.

~ Bernie Sanders
As a conservative I disagree with a lot of his economic policies but I can hugely respect that he has stuck to his ideals throughout his career and never wavered, which is something you cannot say for most politicians nowadays.
Bernie would have done more to conserve the economy than these greedy, corporate chimps in both parties who just want screw the American economy into the ground to make themselves a little richer. Corporatism has turned your government into a piggy bank where the monopolies can socialise the losses and capitalise the gains. Boom bust until one day it simply doesn't recover. They have rigged the entire economy against main street and the working class. One day we will have King Bezos and all the competition will be gone. Thats what corporatist economics looks like. Bernie would be the only candidate who would have tried to level out the playing field, Biden and Trump will do nothing but sit back and watch as the oligarchs suck the US dry. :/
Conservatives make me laugh. Check out the definition of conserve and then try to convince me that is what conservatives do lol utter sophistry. George Carlin had it right.
@@xxxxOS you have no right to the wealth or money of another individual or entity. Bernies plans make the government a monopoly on almost everything.
