- I finally picked up a pair of the Asics Gel-NYC! This new lifestyle silhouette which debuted earlier this year, has released in a variety of colours and today I'll be reviewing the "Concrete / Oatmeal" pair. Inspired by past silhouettes from Asics' archive, these feature a mix of mesh, suede, and synthetic panels, giving it a mid 2000s design flare. Check out my review to learn more!

I love this model, love how it looks and how comfortable they are. Asics really going crazy this year pumping out great colorways and collabs, excited to see what 2024 has in store for the brand

I grabbed the Bodega collab of these and they are so so nice. I'm typically a New Balance guy and these were my first Asics and I gotta say I was impressed. Very comfortable.
Which nb model would you put them against ?

@@ejdub410probably either the 990 v5 since the v6 has a huge midsole, or the 9060s since they both have pod looking midsoles.
ASICS are a lot more comfortable than NB
I got the oat gray colorway. I think it provides what you found lacking in yours, with more dispersion of darker shades to balance out the asics stripes

I had a pair of gels when I was a teen back in the late 90s early 00s. Was known purely for its functionaly as a running shoe. Really different to see them as a fashion item.
Is it bulky on feet?
I've been eyeing this model for a while but never enough to pull the trigger. Maybe with the right collab I'll bite!

It's great to see that the theory of "quantity over quality" or "quality over quantity" doesn't really apply on this channel because it encompasses both, perfectly balanced

I hear you on the coloring of these. I have both of the Awake NYC versions and they look much better on foot especially the brighter cw. Other GRs look good too.

Great review bro. Wanted to go for these but they ran out of my size, but i managed to pick up the Oatmeal Obsidian Greys. After comparing them in real life, i’m glad I got my pair haha so I agree with you about the colorway for this concrete oatmeal. My first Y2K style sneakers. I’m a size 12.5US on the wider side and i’m about 245ibs. Super comfortable walking around the city and the support is pretty decent too. But in your opinion, which is more comfortable & supportive, the NYCs or the Gel lyte 3s?
NYC have more support, GL3 i find are a bit softer

Pretty dope shoe, the silhouette kinda reminds me of the NB 2002Rs
The running shoes in the 1998 to 2014 era has this theme, hence it's called the Y2K era. For them --- namely our younger selves--- they were serious running shoes, like you would actually marathon on it. For us --- namely our older selves --- they have become lifestyle casual shoes.

more snug than all 3. I wear 10 in NYC and 9.5 in those NB
Adidas has a similar concept shoe, mash up / inspired by older models. It's the Torsion Super. Very cool shoe, you should do a review of it.
There's also the Orektro and the Response CL.
Looks great lol you said something about the design but bro you wore black pants on top of them . That’s why they looked off, shoulda work something creamy colored or grey and the shoe would’ve looked better👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Tried to like the Gel-NYC since its debut, but it's not doing it for me.
The downside for this model is their colorway
