For a sports shoe you need consistency and Nike doesn't have that. You buy a shoe and you like, then you go back for replacements and either the shoe isn't made anymore or you buy the same shoe and the quality is completely trashed.

same model, same size, different fit... like what???
my main sport is running and aside from alphafly and vaporfly, the other lineup are poor in quality... most notable is the zoomx foam getting busted from what users criticize

Nike is the fashion brand. There is no need to produce for many years one model. Each year Nike gives a new generation which has much higher perfomance. I am ultramarathon runner and I have been wore Pegasus for last 7 years and I fully satysfy with evolution. Yes, Pegasus 35, 36 were awful, the 37 had bad durability but 33, 34, 38, 40 were amaizing. Hope new Pegasus 41 will be have such cool perfomance as it looks. In my opinion, the biggest drawback of the current Nike Running is the lack of T-shirts in the right colours to match the shoes. Because wearing a black T-shirt all the time is so boring

Nike shoes are *way too expensive* given their middling to poor quality. The way Nikes are made, they should cost 40% less. Add in the bad vibes from their sweat shop abuse, and Nikes should cost 60% less. Never again, Nike.

Same thing we are seeing in many companies like Boeing. Replacing CEOS that had backgrounds in the developing the product they sell, with just business/managment/sales focused people that only want to make money and don't give a shit about the product.
It's not just the new CEO. Quallity was already going down the drain.
But the new one really fucked them by going direct to consumer and cutting out the middleman without actually doing all the work that comes with building their own sales channels. It really gave exsisting retailers a reason to diversify and have a couple of other brands on their shelves in order to not get fucked if nike decides to pull their contract.
That change really showcases how shit those shoes are in the mid price range.

Not surprised. I’ve personally been unimpressed with Nike quality for a long time. Unless it’s a specialty shoe (football, track, etc), then it’s just a hard pass.
Puma has been impressing recently !!

My wife was working in one of Nike's factory. And they have new factory in my wife's town.
She and no one is complaining. Salary is average for the region. Work conditions quite good compared to other options.
They shifted to maximizing shareholder value instead of making shoes
Yeah, in 2020 they went digital in order to be vallued as a tech company and right now they push volume (discounts be damned). 10 years ago I rarely saw big discounts on nike shoed. Right now half the nike shoes are discounted at major retailers and these retailers seem to be carrying new brands that occupy nike's price point as well.
And that should scare nike because it tells you that the stores are aware of how fickle nike is and that their customers either want a better quallity shoe in the 100-150 range or a similar quallity shoe but non brand in the 35-60 range.
That's been the western financial system for the last 40 years.
It's also another reason why tax revenues are down. Dividends are not classed as revenue for the company. This means that the companies have a lower tax bill every year.
The money that paid to shareholders should have been taxed at the corporate tax rate if it was classed as revenue, though when given to a shareholder the shareholder gets taxed at the capital of gains tax rate, which is usually lower.
This is tax reduction has probably counted for trillions of dollars in lost revenue over the past 40 years.
It's a scam, but everyone seems to turn a blind eye to it.
are you dumb? how is making customers unhappy, "maximizing shareholder value"? stocks going down. yeah sure. fucking idi0t
That simple yet sad statement explains the basic plot of most companies that have gone backwards these days.
That’s the literally the goal of a company though, to maximise shareholder value…

Started buying NB years ago after my $100 pair of Nike fell apart after one month of light usage.
my problem with nike is that they went for a more narrower shoe model ... and they are not comfortable anymore ...
Funny thing is...Now the barefoot shoe sector of the shoe industry has risen. Wide toe box, drop zero ration, and low to the ground (little to zero cushioning). This doesn't help that the marketing of those barefoot shoes are based on natural foot pattern and not fancy tech (which is what Nike is about).
That's why I prefer Brooks.
Glad to hear I am not alone here. I used to wear some of their models years ago, but then, all of a sudden, my feet could no longer fit into ANY of their shoes (width-wise) no matter what. Been wearing Sketchers and other brands ever since.
Same opinion here. I normally use barefoot shoes. Every now and then I use my ON shoes merely for its design
Same. The shoes are so narrow I can’t wear them anymore. Wide shoes are waaaay too wide.
Reasons why Nike is failing
1. Over reliance on brand name
2. Much cheaper replica sneaker becoming more accessible
3. Ugly/Mediocre quality footwear
4. Boomer CEO Tech/NFT sales strategy (that always fails)
In general they are becoming ridiculously arrogant with the large marketshare they have, they expect that people will pay top dollar for anything that has a swoosh and they have pushed their luck so far that they are now having people walk away from the brand. Doesn’t help that sneakerheads are finally pivoting from the expensive shoes to good looking shoes. Scarcity won’t make up for an ugly product anymore and Nike needs to catch on to that.

Nike has plenty of stores and outlet stores everywhere if you want to try on in person. Stopped buying Nike sneakers for myself many years ago, when the Lebron III was out, which was the last pair I bought with their badge. Never regret it. There are many companies that produce great products out there, in terms of materials, workmanship, performance you name it. With Asics, Saucony, Hoka, New Balance, and Brooks, no runner should ever buy Nike's trash running shoes again.
I'm older but I remember when Nike used to be THE shoe brand. Everyday wear, workout, and running Nike shoes seemed to have disappeared at most stores I shop. I only see fashion and hypebeast Nike's at stores now. Brand like New Balance, Asics, ON, Brooks, and Hoka swooped in and devoured that market share it seems.
Nike just seems confused about what their business is these days. In a local mall, they opened a NIKE store where about three other stores exist that already sell Nike shoes. They then opened a second store in a trendy shopping district about two miles away. Nike recently closed the store in the mall after less than a year or two. Additionally, they have limited the production of a very good shoe type called the Nike Free. A great and lightweight walking/running shoe. It just seems they can't figure out what to do, or where or how to do it. I think they've gotten too big for their own shoes.
The problem is that they have not been really making any high quality or innovative stuff at appropriate prices. All their new tech gears are way over-priced. Still beating those Jordan and ancient shoes to the ground
AND whenever there is a hot drop, it is essentially impossible to cop as limited stock is available online. I got all my heats by lining up at footlocker in the past couple of years and that is literally playing the waiting game, hoping people dont pick up. Consumers are constantly asking for what they want, but they have no interest in fulfilling them
My issue with Nike is that I don't know what size I am in Nike. I wear 4 different sizes depending on the model type.

Which is exactly the point. The competition has caught up. A few years ago nothing touched the Alpha fly. That is NOT true anymore.
ON Cloud sucks LMAO
Hokas are decent but I would rather run in a chinese brand from amazon/temu before I ever used an on cloud. On cloud to their credit markets well to stupids and novices. Said novices get injured lickity split in their horrible unserious clown shoes and give up running.
I switched to all Adidas like 10 years ago. Three Stripe Life.
Same here, even started buying their basketball shoes very good build quality
Like?

They always seemed to emphase a narrower more aesthetically pleasing foot profile that didnt match my wide feet no matter the fitting.
Wasnt worth it at all.
Everyone's been flocking to other brands because of not only trend but for good reason of innovation and more affordable price. Nikes have maintained their cheap quality while increasing their retail price which is just ridiculous and even sneaker heads like myself have simply caught on, especially with so many undesirable sneakers coming out every week it seems out just sitting in stores or in the Nike/SNKRS app.
Nike missed out entirely on the running boom. Most runners wouldn't consider getting a Nike shoe to run, beyond say flagship models like the Alpha fly. But even those have a reputation for being unreliable / not durable. Why would I spend nearly $200 on Nike runners that are mid quality, and performance, when I could go to other, dedicated running brands like OnCloud, Hookah etc? Same with athletic wear like Lululemon.
I'm glad to see an analysis of Nike's shift to DTC. Cutting ties and damaging its long standing relationships with wholesale partners to focus on DTC while reducing quality was so braindead it should be studied in business classes.
Forced wholesaler to strike up distribution deals with Nike's competitors at a time when new brands were catching a lot of attention. Even now they're back on friendly terms, nobody will trust them enough to rely on them and will prefer diversification of offerings. Huge blunder. Great video.
I mainly wear new balance shoes now and use brooks for walking/cardio
Nike has become a fast fashion brand sadly 😢. Have migrated to New Balance and ASICS.
ASICS is killing it these days
Asics and Saucony
My last pair of NIKE was back in 1997. Never will buy another pair. Too expensive for mediocre shoes.
I had a pair of Nikes for 6 years before I decided to replace them. I got replacements and they were horrible! They rubbed on my ankles and the skin on my toes. I thought I needed to break them in so I put up with it for 3 months. I couldn’t do it anymore so I went back to adidas. Long story short, I gave my brand new Nikes to the neighbors teen daughter and I’m only wearing adidas now
Its crazy how expensive their shoes are getting. I am not paying over 130£ for some sneakers. The second thing is them limiting the kobe releases and not doing more to stop bots and resellers
Just how much growth do these shareholders expect for expensive shoes that don't have the quality they are supposed to? Also what innovation in the last few years, I know several people that enjoy their Vessi shoes, a company that actually did do something different besides colourway.
I used to buy every Kobe sneaker they made....but their greedy limited release strategy really made me hate giving them my business.
I feel like their false scarcity tactic is one of the factors why they are in this situation, many consumers were never able to get a hold on the products they wanted therefore causing them to look elsewhere.
Before pandemic, I always searched for nike running shoes. Now, their running shoes are the worst of all the higher profile brands - adidas, ASICS, new balance, saucony, even previously lesser brands like Puma, Mizuno, On, brooks, all make much more comfortable shoes that seem to last longer for better value. Last Nike shoes I bought were invincible 3’s - what a pair of 💩 shoes they were in almost every facet and expensive to boot. My guess is casual joggers are probably number one buyers of athletic footwear since it’s fastest way to wear down a pair shoes more than likely, and making bad running shoes just seem like the fastest way to the bottom.
I have a wider foot nike's have been ill fitting for at least a decade for me. Whilst other brands like adidas fit well and are consistent (in both how thet fit and quallity).
Brooks is not a lesser brand.
They are very good shoes. They only make high end running shoes and only sell to runners who know the brand.
They are some of the best running shoes on the market. Only alot of people have not heard of them because their marketing is not geared towards casuals.
Lack of innovation, overreliance on retro releases, and the old business model of artificial scarcity to drive up demand and hype are some of the reasons. As a sneakerhead, I aint buying nike anymore. So glad they are finally being exposed.
You can 1000% be a sneaker head and not rock Nike. Being a sneaker head is not attached to a single brand.
@@energieumbrella7140Absolutely false. Nike/Jordan DOMINATE sneaker culture
@@GEES44DCNot the running culture. They prefer everything but Nike it seems.
Just wearing out my last pair of Nikes. I have been admiring the ON and New Balance shoes for the gym
When you are not a monopoly and in a market where there are almost no complex technology involved(like it, car manufacturing, etc.) - your share of the market could fluctuate drastically.
1 bad move can mean everything.
Would rather buy food
I bought their skate shoes for about 10 years, but in the last four years I’ve avoided them, they’ve been changing the models. Thinner material, less lining, I was getting holes and rips from small abrasions.
Someone told me in the 90s when I was a kid that Nike shoes were made in sweatshops. I literally haven't bought a pair since.
Everything is made in sweatshops.
Everything is made in sweatshops.

Quality is shit now… my shoes degrade after a few months and I’m not even physically active!!
Quite honestly sick of the price tags they keep coming up with. Nike used to be an affordable sports brand but now its carrying on like its a high end designer label. Also, the way its pushed up the price of football shirts from a respectable £40-45 to a crazy £85 for a budget version and £125 for the next version is just stupid. I can't buy my 9 year old son a full kit for less than £100 either and they change 3 kits every year. I think everyone now just realises
Thats Jontay Porter meme was Savage
Nikes cost too much for what they are other smaller brands are way better built for the same price its why nike is falling
Ever tried Adidas Ultra Boost shoes? Once you try 'em you never go back to wearing anything else.
Adidas also look way better and have colours that aren't put together by a colour blind dude
Bought a Nike sneaker a couple of months ago and it started falling apart after a couple of days. The hard, plastic cover just ripped through the foam at the back and the air sole burst. The shoelaces untie all the time and the padding at the back looks like a dog gnawed on it. And these are $70 sneakers I just walk to work and back; no running, no rain. After a decade and a half of shopping exclusively for Air Max models, the next pair of sneakers I buy (which is gonna be really soon from what I can see) is NOT going to be Nike.
The only nike shoes I wear are vaporflys and af1's. But af1's are too expensive for the quality you get, plus, they are never on discount so I stopped buying new pairs years ago. As for vaporfly's? I get them on discount at my local nike clearance store, when I'm lucky.
I love seeing all these corporate grifters fail.
I've spent hundreds of $ for their shoes e.g. Roshe Run, Zoom Elite 8, Jordan 3, React Element 87 (collab. w/ Undercover). My biggest disappointment is that they do not last long and perform significantly worse compared to other brands who charge less for identical products. Every wear would make me feel like I was scammed.
Nike and Jordan are such iconic brands. I’ve been a Jordan fan since I was 8. I sure hope they get it together soon.
Current designs can't even compete with 90's designs.
Used to love Nike football cleats, especially the mercurial line. They used to be be similarly priced to Addidas. Now they are just more expensive.
Wtf no mention on Nike Sb, does she even know what that is?
Why mention SB? The issues in the SB line are the same. Shit quality, no innovation.
I find it hilarious how outdated all their performance technology is.
Shoes nowadays now have carbon fibre plates, supercritical nitrogen infused foam, orthotic midsoles and Nike is still doing its best to pump out air shoes as if it’s even remotely competitive with other brands.
I don't care much for what brand of shoes I have, as long as they fit. When they stopped selling nike at most shoe and sports stores, I just stopped considering them.
Nike has bad associations now, will never buy again.
If I was buying shoes based solely on politics there are a lot of brands beyond just shoes I would not buy. 🤦🏾♂️ Separating your politics from your purchases is a good way to remain balanced. The truth is that the post 2020 Nike’s have not being good and even back in 2019 you started to see the drop off in quality and design.
They don't have a shoe as comfortable as Ultraboost. Ultraboost has made me a total Adidas nut. And I don't really care about sneakers.
The Ultraboost is a special shoe
@@JJ-zr6fu Yep! Often imitated, never duplicated. I've introduced a lot of my fellow non shone aficionado friends to the Ultraboost family and they've become dedicated fans.
Both the zoom x and react x foam could have given ultra boost a run for the money, but they keep changing the design and composition every year, so you get a different shoe everytime. The inconsistency is what killed the react for me.
Nike still makes great performance shoe but they have definitely lost the entire casual shoe and daily runner shoe market. The competitors have better options
boost is nice but its old, try saucony or new balance or even asics , you'll thank me for it.
A Running shoes costs $1.79 dollars to make it in Vietnam and they sell it for $99.99 i think they deserve this downfall
