The ‘no excuses’ mentality and the ‘on to the next one’ ideology is crucial to successful football teams. Say you blame your offense, then your defense doesn’t really have a reason to improve. And vice versa. If you simply say ‘we need to fix things up and get better for next week’, nobody is safe and everybody needs to improve. Because ultimately no one should be comfortable. Everyone should be striving and working to be better every week. In the end it doesn’t matter what the press has to say or who did what right or who screwed up. In the end all that matters is recognizing your issues and fixing those, while simultaneously strengthening your strong points as well.
