I come back to this speech every once in a while. It goes far beyond football. Things take time. You can’t expect immediate results and improvement when you’re struggling. Slowly and steadily people reach their goals and ambitions. You can’t have your head in the clouds. As for football, this speech is 6-7 years old. Look at the state of Man Utd. Still panic buying, no clear ambition, just reckless unnecessary spending.
We played terrible football under him and he has failed at every club he managed since. The players that he bought that had "a different mentality", where are they now? He deploys outdated tactics in our era of modern football and will be very lucky to be offered another top job at club level.

@cmlguerra Manchester United played terrible, passive football under Mourinho. In an era where ability to control games is a key to consistently challenging for titles, his style of football is completely irrelevant. Funny guy, loads of charisma but unfortunately lacks tactical nous and has completely fallen off. There's a reason he's unemployed and won't be approached by another big European club.
What he means translates in english to "inheritance". It's what each manager "inherits" as they start a job for the club. So it's "football inheritance", which is a common term in portuguese football (herança futebolística).
There are two major observations you can make- 1) Mourinho always got criticised in England when he wasn't immediately winning things, despite everything that he had achieved, in Utd I remember he was the one who won them a European trophy after many years, sacked still! Sacked after 6 months post winning premier League with Chelsea in 2015.. Wenger should've been sacked like millions of times by the same logic! It doesn't apply to other managers.. 2) the respect he gets in Roma is indicative of their achievements! Both Inter and Roma had shown immense respect to him and he did immense things with them! With Roma, which isn't a good team at all, he took them to 2 European finals in 2 years! The man is a legend !
Update of some of the bigger players that left the club in the last 2 years: Pogba - went back to Juve on a free, was always injured, got banned for failed drug test. Currently without a club Cavani - left on a free, a season at Valencia, now at Boca Jrs Lingard - left on a free, a terrible season at Nottingham Forest on £200k a week, now plying his trade in South Korea Mata - left on a free, mid season in Turkey, one game in Japan, now playing in Australia De Gea - left on a free, spent a year without a club, now in Italy Varane - left on a free, joined Como, retired after getting injured again Martial - left on a free, now playing for AEK Athens Donny - playing for Girona after signing for €500k Jones - left on a free when his large contract expired, after playing 13 times in 4 years. Now retired. Elanga, Henderson, Pereira, AWB playing in the PL, and doing pretty well thankfully. “See where they play, how they play, IF they play. That is football heritage”

This speech is gold. Pure Facts.
Watching here after Sevilla knocked out ManU at the Europa League today. This is still true.
Boy was he right on money!!! I want to apologize to Jose on my own behalf. He was the man who told us what is wrong with our club
Bournemouth huh?
We played terrible football under him and he has failed at every club he managed since. The players that he bought that had "a different mentality", where are they now? He deploys outdated tactics in our era of modern football and will be very lucky to be offered another top job at club level.
@@TheBigPlopper Mourinho was the best coach man utd had in the last years by far,he finished second and won the europa league with a shitty squad, others after him won nothing with better squads. he won trophies everywhere he’s been except in tottenham where he was not given the chance of playing the final.
@@TheBigPlopperwhat did he do wrong? (just discovered him)
Legendary interview. Everything he says is true
So what he meant by heritage is basically the level the club is at. He is actually speaking the truth
What he means by heritage is the winning history and culture of the players that the manager inherits. And ManU there is basically none left.
What he means translates in english to "inheritance". It's what each manager "inherits" as they start a job for the club. So it's "football inheritance", which is a common term in portuguese football (herança futebolística).
Out of topic, but his time with Real Madrid was one of the best times in football. Their counter attack was so amazing.
Back here again after today's show . Jose this a masterpiece classic. Original
"Where they play, how they play, if they play" Mourinho is a legend. Respect
This was a lecture on heritage executed to perfection.
it’s the history of the tottenham

Ya Massry worry about your own club before you start laughing at shity spurs 😂
Every Man United defeat, I come back here to change flowers for Jose🔥🔥🔥🔥. This was spot on by Jose #FootballHeritage
This is still completely relevant today in 2024. Huge mistake by the club not giving this man the support but most importantly the time.
Jose Mourinho has won a trophy even before United and spurs did now.
There are two major observations you can make-
1) Mourinho always got criticised in England when he wasn't immediately winning things, despite everything that he had achieved, in Utd I remember he was the one who won them a European trophy after many years, sacked still!
The goat was speaking truth and predicted the future
Update of some of the bigger players that left the club in the last 2 years:
Pogba - went back to Juve on a free, was always injured, got banned for failed drug test. Currently without a club
Cavani - left on a free, a season at Valencia, now at Boca Jrs
Lingard - left on a free, a terrible season at Nottingham Forest on £200k a week, now plying his trade in South Korea
Mata - left on a free, mid season in Turkey, one game in Japan, now playing in Australia
De Gea - left on a free, spent a year without a club, now in Italy
Varane - left on a free, joined Como, retired after getting injured again
Martial - left on a free, now playing for AEK Athens
Donny - playing for Girona after signing for €500k
Jones - left on a free when his large contract expired, after playing 13 times in 4 years. Now retired.
Elanga, Henderson, Pereira, AWB playing in the PL, and doing pretty well thankfully.
“See where they play, how they play, IF they play. That is football heritage”
Tottenham had a better team than the team Jose won the Europa League with and they still couldn’t win it. As a wise man once said, “it’s the history of the Tottenham”.
if Mourinho can't win Spurs a trophy than it's proof that they are a cursed football club

@@thelegendthatischels It wasn’t, we had Mkhitariyan on the wing, Rashford up front, Mata on the wing, Fellaini in midfield, and Blind and Smalling at the back. Spurs have several good players.
@@prometheustv6436 Valencia and Young as full-backs as well.
I see why he isnt good for club optics. He tells it to the media how it is, and does not hide the truth. He respects the media as the courier of news to the fans.
This is also why hes had the success he has. Such a straight forward approach. 0 Metaphors, straight to the point.
Man came prepared with receipts. When someone with facts and receipts came for a presser, journalists will be dumbfounded
Mourinho sacked but Manchester still without winning trophies... Grande mourinho ❤️
He won europa league with united!
Aged like fine wine 🍷
Let make an UPDATE of Jose's football heritage after him:

Been a Madrid fan for 19 years and we all know that 4 ucl titles in 5 years were mostly cuz of mourinho
Literally. The skeleton of the team was produced by Mourinho. Carlo arrived, added a little Italian touch and Bale and won it. Tbh Real deserved to win it with Mourinho
@@FKS1946 that penalty shoot out hurts. To me, it was the best Real Madrid team in that decade, ruthless and scary.
Probably it was destiny. The three of the best penalty takers of the world missed.
This interview continues to age brilliantly
If you really think (Even as Real Madrid fan), way back to 2010, José re-established the winning culture, especially in Europe into the club, Ancelotti continued and Zidane made it flourish, and now Ancelotti again. José STARTED IT, even though he didnt win la decima, Ancelotti did, but Ancelotti's team gained a lot from José, let's be honest.
Ofc Football heritage. If not Peps amazing 1:1000 Barca team we would be speaking different right now. Thats football HERITAGE!
Jose makes the pie, Ancelotti bakes it, and Zidane is the one who gets to eat it.
He was right, and still is. 6 years later, United are in exactly the same place with the same problems
I think there's no such a coach who could save Man Utd.
Basically he is saying Man United didnt make the right decisions in the past years in terms of the investing in the right players and somehow he is expected to turn around things in 2 days, its a long process which requires pateince, long term careful investment and cooperation and trust between owners and fans with the manager.
well-said. too bad even if their owner knows this they dun give a fk bout Eritage, all about the spotlight + $$$$$
Greatest ever interview in football history, I mean heritage
I watch this video every year
bc manu suck every year?😂
Mourinho, All his speeches may sound over exaggerated at present but as the years go on the words get even more real. That’s football heritage.
Who else is watching this after man utd collapse loosing 4-0 to brentford😅, Jose Knew this was coming.
Yes!!!
What do you have to say now ? 😂😂
He knew Ten Haag is this good?
Losing*
This speech will NEVER get old
True 💯
Two losses at the start. Embarrassing losses. The theory of heritage is so true. Mourinho is always right.
Football heritage.
Genuine question, what does Jose mean by football heritage? I heard a lot about it and now I watch this but still don't understand.
Football heritage means like football inheritance..
The point of the video was the Manchester United players he inherited were junk players and had poor mindset.. They haven't won anything for last 7 years
@@averageyoutubeuser44 What he meant to say is football legacy. He probably chose heritage to make it more original
Agree with everything Jose said in this interview but you've also proven him right because you didn't accept what Ten Haag took over that things are a process. Look at his current situation
United have just gone out in the group stage of the Champions League and are bottom of their group 12/12/23. Football Heritage.
All i get from this sleech is that Mourinho is the monster that awoke the Real Madrid Genie from its bottle.
Spot on. Looking back that has been his biggest contribution to football heritage. He created the menace that Real is today.
Bossman takes football seriously, it is his true passion! IConic!!!!
And again... Never forgotten
I go back to this video a lot
Came back in 2024 and Ole, Ragnick, EtH are dealing with the same demons as managers.
Greatest football speech ever!!!
I remember he was lambasted and mocked for this press conference at the time. And yet, as the seasons go by, Jose becomes more vindicated and this speech more prophetic.
Time = Jose Mourinho's best friend
