My roommate talked me into paying $14 to see SRV in 1984. We arrived early and stood in the very front. He opened with this and blew me away for the next 34 years.

I paid $90 to see Prince in about 2003 'musicology' tour. No regrets he brought the friggin house DOWN. Played a medley of his hits. I brought a lefty with me, and FORGOT to burn it. Transfixed. Props to his band they were right with him.

I had to get the HELL off a position and take a break I’d been a fan of his like since whenever he first came out I was that shook up man what a damn shame what a loss. I never got to see him live but I had seen Jimmi at the Forum growing up and man I gotta say SRV I don’t mean to offend anyone but SRV man he was right there with Hendrix folks I’m no musician but he was something way special how some nimrod could possibly hit the thumbs down on this has to be tone deaf.

Took off in a fog, alpine valley was built on a kettle moraine and was a Ski hill in the winter.
As is every show I've seen there the fog rolls in and is part of the show when it hits the band stage.
Pilot must of hit a lift wire. One of the only local to Chicago shows i missed of him and DT. Traffic is always horrible the only quick way out is by Helo. Told my sister to go. He's so worth it. Truely like you, devastated hearing the news, like Senna and other greats. Though, 2 completely different paths, too me, those 2 hit me the hardest. Lost way to soon.

As an avid Strat player with 40+ yes of band experience, Stevies playing both inspired me and made me want to give up playing at the same time. His ability to just have the guitar become an extension of himself, and pull tones out of the instrument that I've never come close to achieving. And you're right, non players may not have the same understanding of just what a rare talent he was. In 7yrs he introduced so many people to the blues and many longtime blues plates credit him with the revival of their careers. Guitar players ran out to buy the albums of all the blues greats SRV mentioned that influenced him. Tragic the way it ended for him, his loss to blues lovers around the world left holes in all our hearts.

Stevie was one of those rare guitarists who could play "lead-rhythm" guitar. Another guy who came before him was a master at it. You might want to check out Terry Kath with the original group, Chicago and just about anything "live" such as 1970 at Tanglewood.
