I remember watching Daves common man videos and buying a stainless dog bowl for a container and mini vise grips, now he carries a pastry cutter. Bushcraft has come a long way
Fun fact - If you combine the 64oz bush pot with a Bush Box XL stove - the standard size grill plate of the stove at about 11,5 x 12 cm doubles perfect as a baking tray for the pot and at a significantly lower weight than most comparable griddles or grill racks. And of course you can grill/fry things on them as well because it’s a plate with holes in it rather than a standard web of squares grill rack so things are generally less likely to stick in the rack webbing if you put them on directly. The kicker is just that you can buy these plates individually, they’re light weight and quite affordable and also takes up less space than a rack, you could fit it between the pages of your notebook if you had to … I am sure the extended grill plate you can buy for the Bush Box may work for some deeper pots as well and the standard grill plate may also come in smaller sizes for some of the smaller Bush Boxes, to fit even smaller pots but I haven’t looked into it.
I have the 1 & 2 qt bushpots along with other Pathfinder utensils. It's not just the steel that I trust but it's the great design of these Bush pots compared to other makers. I wouldn't trust the steel from those other manufacturers. You just gave me a good idea I should add in an extra mixing bowl. I have learned so much about Bushcraft from you over the years, thanks, from Canada.
I think that it’s missing gravy, looks dry. Powdered gravy can be used, it’s lightweight, and you can use only the amount you want. Dave never ceases to amaze me with his ingenuity. Could also use some hot sauce instead of gravy. SRO is going to bankrupt me with all of the great products, especially when he makes videos of getting more uses for the product he sells. Gotta getcha some!!
Hi Dave, greeting from Australia 🇦🇺. Thank you for your time to make these videos, add a bit of sugar to mix, use tin fruit same method and you desert, cut circle on top once baked, put cream in hole, top back on sprinkle with icing sugar and enjoy.
After getting an email advertisement for the 1-quart pot , it has been ordered and hopefully arrives next week. This video shows a much better look at the pot . All the best in all future endeavors.
Compact, complete, and looks to be absolutely no hassle set, that can easily be stored, and ready to go for any situation. I'm definitely going to purchase the set just for the practicality!! Thanks Dave!!!
I bought the TI Bush Pot when they came out but decided to buy the 1qt BP recently… it’s awesome! The construction and material quality is top drawer. I will be putting together the nesting system. 👍 The pie looks amazing… and it’s lunchtime here.
Awesome video, my man. I'm going to have to go and make me some pot pies. Thanks for the shout out about the rack/ oven. Your Hammock Hang-In is still one of the best outings I've been to... not to mention I got to meet and hang out with you that weekend :) Keep cookin' brother!
I’ve used my cookset like that for decades, even better if wild berries are available to throw into the muffin mix. I won first place in a photo contest from a surplus place using a piece of gear I’d bought and baking in it. My Pathfinder PM40 hasn’t been used a lot but it’s been a shit year. Hope to use it more, love that thing.
Just got the 64oz in the mail 4 days ago, can’t wait to try it out. I think I should have purchased the 120oz at the same time😢 Will order a wire rack when I do! Thanks for the great videos Mr. Dave
@@SelfRelianceOutfit been using every weekend and twice during this week. Made chili mac for my boys and me. Used my older boys pot crane he crafted aswell
My wife’s grandmother used to say “Your eyes were bigger than your stomach” I’d say your eyes were bigger than your bush pot oven “But that’s OK” 👍 Now I’m going to have to update my camp cooking system 👍❤️👍
Good company in my opinion with American values is so important. Support the small guy's an support companies that have the same values as you do. Good gear at Self Reliance Outfitters. Never ever have had an issue if so I know they will make it right. How do I know because they sent me a new dry bag no questions asked.
I like the one quart pot, often the two quart feels like I brought the whole kitchen with me, I prefer a bal and butterfly type handle system like the 2quart but larger than my tiny tokes ti 750ml.
Great stuff and I am always stoked to watch and learn. Didn’t realize I was not a subscriber after all these years. I am still watching old “paid for” reruns of you on Dual Survivor.
Mr Cantabery the military spoon is a full tablespoon so you most likely used 4 tbs of flour I measure the ones I have it comes out to be a full tablespoon
I like that 1 qt. But my next purchase is going to be one of those skillets with the lid. Personally I think it would be more sturdy than my GI mess kit.
its in my shopping cart right now waiting on me to pull the trigger waiting on work to be over this year. i wanted to buy this last year but already spent $20,000 on supplies last year. im dying to play with this.
If you knead dough too much (overwork it) it can become tough. For biscuits or what he’s making you don’t want tough dough. Imagine the difference between a light flaky biscuit and a chewy pizza crust.
Dave, I have the 2 qt and 1 qt bush pot love them both I also have your skillet which because of the lid I believe it to be the best on the market. I was curious if you had considered making a smaller version of the skillet around the size of the cold handle for solo cooking with the 1 qt bush pot.
For what it's worth I would really like another pack stove (ring) lost my 1st gen bottle kit and bought the new one and was disappointed to not have the ring to put on my bottle
Dave could you please give me a suggestion for a decent winter sleep system. I'm a bigger dude, 6'5 about 300 pounds. Can I use a wool blanket, if so what temps , I know there is allot of variables as far as percent of wool in the blanket etc. Thanks Jeremy
Just got my PF40 Cook Kit; had to get the matching cups from... a surplus place, alas... I'm hoping for a 48 oz. stainless mucket, and a 7 by 7 grate for my stock pot. That cook kit is TOUGH!
Oh great, I just realized that I don't yet have the new 1 qt. bush pot. Well, that'll just have to be remedied. Done. Ordered! LOL. Great video Dave, thanks for sharing your ideas, cooking skills and experience with us
I have the entire pathfinder cook set and I love it as my bushcraft cook system 😁
Thank you Steven!
Are they made in the USA?
Rollin pin. Another advantage of a water bottle in the water bottle vs canteen conversation.

Appreciate the gravy tip. Thanks for taking us along on your adventures.
I have used pathfinder bushpots for years they have never let me down.
Cool to hear. Thank you.
Glad to see the cooking show is back and with new additions. So..where's the cat.?? Cheers DC from Australia.
All these products are bullet proof, usable gear!!! I'm hunting down the titanium pieces right now, but the Stainless Steel are fantastic!!!
Between Pathfinder and Firebox, I have cook stuff I love. If only the French press form either would fit :)
Great video. Pot pie. God bless. From Glenn CATT. In Massachusetts.
WOW.... I'll wager going on a camping trip with you would be an unforgettable experience.

We started using that baking process over 30 years ago. We just cut up a piece of expanded metal to make the tray in the cook pot. Great video!!
I was always a fan of those old mess kit silverware
The bails for the pots could use a bend to keep them steady if hung over a fire
Dave you should try putting a slice of cheddar cheese on top of that pie when you cook it, adds a whole new level.
You had me at big cup of coffee. I own the 64oz bush pot and skillet and it's a great kit
Thanks for a great looking recipe. I have the full Pathfinder cooking set. Love some pot pie and will have to try this one for sure.

A 20 oz. Ti bowl by Snow Peak will fit in the 2 quart pot, no rack required. Then you can make a bigger pot pie.
Will two bowls fit in the 3qt pot?
I like the one quart pot, often the two quart feels like I brought the whole kitchen with me, I prefer a bal and butterfly type handle system like the 2quart but larger than my tiny tokes ti 750ml.
Good job 👏

Looks like it works great I need the grate to go with my bush pot
Thanks Brother.
Thanks Dave
Thank you for this video!
I just ordered my other two pots from you'll will be in this Monday. I liked the recipe for camping or back packing
thank you!
Great video
Own all of them 😎 and the aluminum sets as well from my parents. Looked super yummy! Thanks for sharing Dave 🤠

nicely done
Great Video. I love my complete set. Keep up the great work Dave.
Thank you!
The pathfinder bush pots are #1
😮😊nice camp meal😊
Very similar to that aluminum kepart style of nesting cookware.
That looks awesome.
Well done!
Your bush pots are awesome.
Thank you, we are extremely proud of this line of products.
I’m really enjoying the 1qt bush pot. I’ve considered getting the 2qt next.
Great to hear!
Good morning from Syracuse NY
Hello there from Rochester NY. Love Dave's cooking videos 😊
Hi my friend
I like that 1 qt. But my next purchase is going to be one of those skillets with the lid. Personally I think it would be more sturdy than my GI mess kit.
Great choice. Both the 8" and 10" skillets are excellent pieces of kit.
its in my shopping cart right now waiting on me to pull the trigger waiting on work to be over this year. i wanted to buy this last year but already spent $20,000 on supplies last year. im dying to play with this.
Oh hell, you did to me again! Now I gotta go buy the ingredients. I have the pot and grill and plenty of firewood.
What do you mean by "overwork the dough"?
If you knead dough too much (overwork it) it can become tough. For biscuits or what he’s making you don’t want tough dough. Imagine the difference between a light flaky biscuit and a chewy pizza crust.
Heck yeah!
That's awsome. What kind of butane stove was that again?
It’s a Partner Stove…propane

They have a smaller titanium skillet
@modemode3663 I will use the cold handle I have but I may get the titanium set for the Mrs

Sir . We call Dimsome & Alo Paratha in India . "Samosa" & kachori Is also the same method
Is there a cook rack for the Stainless Steel Canteen Cooking Set so that you can use it like an oven?
Does the 1 quart Bush pot work as a nesting cup for any of your steel water bottles on SRO?
You would think somebody would make a small square or rectangle or oven like this for camping
Is that exact set available?
Who makes that stove?
Wow man now he's Jammie Oliver
👍
Where can i purchase them 1 quart pot dave?
I absolutely love my cook set. I have the plate, bowl, skillet, 2qt bushpot, 3qt bushpot, coffee cup, and 3 racks. Not much I can't cook.
