I just picked up the TFO trout and panfish II. The price is now up to $120, but the new version is even sweeter than the first one. Definitely worth the cost to step up from entry level.

I bought 2 6ft and a 7ft ul, all rods has problem with the top eye guide so far, only used a few times, but already showing grooves in the fishing rod top line guides, looks made out of brass with silver coating?, I use 4lb mono and 10lb braid on the 7ft, very disappointing about the material they used on the eye guides, please share if you guys has the same problem, i checked with with my 6x magnifier, it’s showing brass color on the grooves. I do love the blank, by the way the 7ft feeling like ml or L action, 6ft is true ul fast action,
Did you get the old design or the trout panfish II ?
Those guides aren’t made for braid. Braid will cut lines in these guides. Use 4-6 mono.

I have that same rod you broke and I love it. I think I paid $40 for it. I also have a St Croix panfish series ultra light. It’s my favorite rod but it was $120. Kinda pricey. I’ll have to check out the TFO rod.

How is the sensitivity compared to the okuma? Is it less noodely?
Yeah it's a big difference..You can definitely tell the the quality...And having the stainless steel Guides..Makes me wish I had all my Rods like that
That bass coming off is why I went with their light power rod. The UL feels better, but I want backbone for larger white bass hookups and medium-light is simply too much.

I am glad I found this. I am in the market for a new panfish rod. I was just looking at TFO fly rods in BPS catalog because my BPS White River Classic broke and I replaced it with a cheaper Redington. Which I have actually been quite impressed with, but would like to switch that rod to sinking fly line and get a new setup for floating fly line.
I have a few TFO fly rods..I love this Ultra light spinning rod best one I ever used..It's worth every penny I'll tell you that

I got lucky and found a 7ft 1 piece, last one I could find, this rod is sold out everywhere except that one and it's the one I really wanted. I'll just seal the cork and it'll be ready to go. i have an 8'6 ultralight tfo spin rod for trout i love it one of my favorite rods have had it for years never had an issue with it. Also is it Lefty Kreh who designs the rods

Is this a 2 piece model?
It's just too stiff. Funny it states fast action on manufactures website. Yet cabelas, sportsman warehouse say its extra fast. I will say it is indeed extra fast.
That's what I like about it I can flip docs easy it's got enough whip that you can throw a little jig far and you can fill the bite super easy

TFO is my favorite rod company! You're right they make some excellent products! I own two of their fly rods and a 6'9" medium light for speckled trout.I was already looking at this rod but I just wanted to see somebody else having some fun and catching fish before I bought one! lol Tight lines brother!
Just watching this vid now for the first time great boat footage getting to the cove. I'm a bid Ultra Light fan...use it all the time with grubs.
i cant decide on what i want.. i wanted the 6ft or the 6'6ft.. need opinion from who has these two rod
I don't have either but I ordered the 6'6". I find that length to be a good all around use. I have Shakespeare micro series UL (actually it's their light because it's what I feel a UL rod should be, the UL version is too flimsy) rods in this length and they're are great.

Hands down my favorite rod!!! I have all the trout panfish models except the 5'6". My favorite is the 6'6" one piece. I hold told everyone I have ever fished with about the greatness of these TFO rods. Great for trout and panfish obviously, but I have landed some pigs with this rod. It is amazing how sensitive and how much backbone these rods have.
Just got the 6' one piece, looking forward to it being my go to rod
