We can fish for days on end and not catch a thing now. This is due to Trawlers over fishing. I've had countless arguments with boat owners over the years with them saying it's not me i only fish for prawns". If ur ever behind a prawn boat when their sorting their catch out watch all the small fish that have been crushed in the net and then thrown back too sea. This is what the seagulls fight over. Also the Trawlers that catch fish just hammer the grounds by ploughing up and down time and time again which destroys all the feeding ground. Our sea's are now in a very poor state. If artificial reefs were dotted around this would stop Trawlers occupying those areas and it would create fish haven's for juvenile fish protecting fish stocks. Something definitely needs done about those Trawlers. ( Should make them into Fish Haven's ) . 😁👍
I feel what you're saying, isle of man is battered by scallop dredgers now there's no tow areas around the island but its only just a fighting balance, sad things also is most of the catch go abroad hardly anyone eats scallops etc on the regular.
