WOW! Greetings from central Pennsylvania where it's been foggy, cloudy, and raining the past two days. No snow yet. The two of you certainly have your work cut out for you up there. Stay safe, warm and cozy. May God bless you always. 🙏
Thank goodness you have the equipment to take care of that large amount of fluffy stuff! It’ll be interesting to see how much less “push” room you have at the end of winter!
Agreed! That's a great idea, I will try to record a before and after winter shot of the total snow piled into the dumping area. If it is anything like last year it will be an impressive snow mountain by springtime. It took till early June for it to all melt last season. Thanks Shirley!
Good news! Your channel showed up in my feed within two hours of you posting it! Progress! Snow is beautiful but I'm glad I only have a driveway and sidewalk to shovel! That was a long day of snow removal. Having the right equipment is most of the battle.
That is a lot of snow to relocate and to find a place to put it all. Very impressed at the level of redundancy in your snow relocation capability, but I should not be surprised by this team. Great work and planning
The fresh snow is beautiful to see! It's ok that it did not hold off. Since this storm last week we have been able to work on our roof and doors on good weather days. The cabin is almost completely dried in now! We will have an updated video out about it ASAP 🙂 thanks for your comment!
When I was a child, way back when. I loved cleaning the snow from our paths and roads, but I’m glad to say not as bad as your area. Stay safe and warm😊😊😊😊
I had just come in from shoveling a driveway full of sunshine in time to watch your video. The scenes of snow on the trees etc. are wonderful. A lot of work for you but keeping ahead is so necessary I guess. Looking forward to your next video for sure, jack, In The Valley of The Sun, AZ.
Yikes! That is a lot of snow. Fun at first and later it will be a pain. Beautiful scenery shots. Trees look nice with the snow on them. I have a Kubota BX23S with a blower on the front. I learned the hard way to move the snow once. It will shoot the snow 40'. I have an atv with a plow and two snow blowers. They are my back-ups. I hope you are both well and the pups and goats are enjoying the snow. Take care and stay safe.
Only a little snow between yesterday and today for us adding about 3 or so inches more. The next several days are looking better with clouds and some sun! 🤞
You guys need another A-Cabin as a garage for your vehicles 😉 Amazing pictures. Love the snow on the trees in the blazing sun light. Which we still had snow in the winter like when I was a kid...
We are allowed to hunt our land, the legal season is open for a few weeks in the fall and there is an antler restriction size in this unit. Unfortunately out of the eleven or so moose we saw during the short hunting season, none were a legal harvest. We would love to pursue legal-size moose more in the future along with other Alaska big game. Unfortunately this year we could not commit time to hunting because of cabin construction. But fortunately, we were able to fill our freezer with salmon halibut, and cod early this summer. The seafood in this area is the best bet for wild-caught food, undoubtedly. The ocean is right out our back door.
Simple trick for your gound solar panels is to put a tarp over them before a snow storm. They aren’t making any power so it’s no big deal covering them until the snow stops. This little “trick” makes cleaning the panels off a breeze!….
That's a lot of snow, reminds me of when I lived in Indiana but now I have since moved south and don't have to shovel that white stuff, but watching you accomplish the great job and having fun !!!😊😊😊
Hello from Cape Cod. Wow that was a good storm. Lots of snow. You two sure have the removal down to a science. You must be exhausted after the day you had cleaning up. Good job. Stay warm and get some rest. See you again soon. Take care✌️🇺🇸❤️❤️
yall are freezing me stiff!!!! i could not handle the cold and snow the way yall do.....no way! i hope God sustains yall as yall dig out and make do...........g
It could! In the future, we will make an adjustable mount for the panels to tilt them vertically so we won't need to clean them, which should help with solar gain as well. After our cabin is livable it would be great to build outbuildings for the rest of our equipment to get them out of the weather. We will have an updated video on the cabin soon!
To anyone planning to move to Alaska: arrive before the spring thaw so you are ready to start building a HUGE garage/shop and complete it before the next winter. Sure would save a lot of work keeping trailers, vehicles, tractors, and implements inside. 😮
Great advice, I have thought about this option but I can not afford this type of luxury at the moment (and probably never will). My advice as someone who has lived here for two years starting from rough land with a goat trail, if you want to build a "HUGE shop" here in Alaska to fit the number of belongings we have, bring an extra 175k cash to pay a contractor to put up said shop. Also, keep in mind there are not many companies in this area who do that kind of work so you will need to schedule the work to be completed about 10 months ahead of time to get on the job list with a reputable contractor. You might think you have time for this type of project by yourself but for the average person it is probably not attainable, you will be busy the entire first summer land clearing, building road access to your property setting up off-grid power/ running water solutions, building and digging an outhouse, and working on temporary housing to live in, probably working a job to bring in income to keep pushing forward with your progress unless you are fortunate enough to be wealthy (in that case you would not be in this position anyhow). Once winter comes you are all but crippled with progress forward here. Don't forget to save up cash for your heating bill for the huge shop, we saw 40° nights all summer so you have to heat the massive air space year-round to live in it. Overall though if I had this large of a budget I surely would not be dealing with any of that. I would have dropped the check for a turnkey home and property that had what I wanted so I could start enjoying it right away.
Your comments included cabin work, so ... in case I missed it, how do you plan to heat the cabin? Also, arctic entry on front deck? Or (my guess) we should all just wait and see. Just commenting. I've followed a half dozen Alaska YTs; yours is #1 or #2. As we said in my day, keep on truckin'.
Agreed! After we are living in the cabin comfortably that will be high on our priority list 🙂 can't wait for that day because we have never had a good covered work area or storage area before. Been working out in the weather and dirt forever.
Wow, that took all day. I saw you using the tape measure how much did you get? By this time next year you won’t have to remove snow from the RV. It looks absolutely beautiful there!
It did take all day that's for sure! We measured 11 inches on the roof of the goat shed, but that was after it had already started melting. In shaded areas, it was closer to 14 inches. It certainly is gorgeous!
You need one of those shipping container shops to park all your stuff underknocsnow isn't suck a pain Make sure you push the snow way back because he got the rest of the snow from the rest of winter. Depart to be able to pile
Wow quite the storm! I got rid of my plow truck this year and changed to a 47” snowblower. Got tired of running out of room to push snow! Hopefully I didn’t make a mistake?
As the former owner of 5 boats (2 power, 3 sail) you need to get a tarp on that so the ice/snow don't get too far down inside. If that's Fiberglas there are (usually encased) wood stringers in the hull, and freeze/thaw is no good down there. Rain/freeze/thaw just as bad. First non-snow day, clean it out, cover it. If you haven't already (can't tell). Just my opine.
And you get to do it all over again and again etc. Also you should get either a tarp or clear plastic to cover your solar panels when it’s going to snow and when it clears up pull it off and you’ll have nice clean panels 👍
It is a beautiful place, luckily it only snows a few days a week in winter from what I have seen. In the last two years we have had about 7 total feet of snowfall on our property each winter, by the end of winter from melting and compaction it is usually about 5 feet deep in untouched areas. The mountain areas accumulate double this amount of snow. It's not too bad but it keeps us busy!
Would love to add a small snow pusher box to the attachment list in the future, could save time in the final cleanup swipes. I need a bigger machine to run a large snow pusher. I tried running a 10-foot plow on this skid steer during heavy nor'easter storms and it resulted in broken drivetrain parts. It is just too much weight to push in a straight line for it. This was a cheap plow that I have been using for almost 12 years now. The plow is getting pretty worn out, to be honest. When I go to replace it I will purchase a heavy-duty adjustable v plow instead to relieve stress on the machine for the first few swipes in fresh snow.
Worth it just for the landscape shots. What does the contact (bottom) edge of that snow squeegee(?) look like ? Is it rounded metal or rubber ? Thanks.
Also if you could share more clips of first part where you are taking off snow with a silver rake.... I imagine you must have filmed all that... if you could share the unedited long version as well.
Hey codger, I only plug in when it gets well into the negative temps. We are on a limited power supply here, especially in winter when solar doesn't work because the sun is low and not up long. Our truck and generator have no issues starting because the gen has glow plugs and the truck has a grid heater. Unfortunately, the skid steer has no cold starting aid other than a push button ether start that I do not use. The block heater is sufficient to help it start in really frigid weather but would like to retrofit a grid heater to it in the future for faster starting.
OH MY!!!! HOW MANY INCHES DID YOU GET? I LIVE IN Minnesota and I'm dreading Winter this year! Last year we hardly had any snow, it was a nice Winter But they are saying lots of sms now this Winter!
We actually don't often get large storms like this maybe 2 to 3 times during the winter. The majority of our snow comes from small, more frequent storms that drop 4 to 6 inches of snow at a time. Over the last 2 winters, we've seen an average of about 7 feet of snow all winter, but in untouched areas, after some melts, it's usually an accumulation of around 5 feet.
Fantastic to see how the roof pitch of your cabin does the job of sheading snow, well done.
WOW! Greetings from central Pennsylvania where it's been foggy, cloudy, and raining the past two days. No snow yet. The two of you certainly have your work cut out for you up there. Stay safe, warm and cozy. May God bless you always. 🙏
That’s a lot of snow! But my guess is you guys spend less time and money moving snow then most of us maintain our manicured lawns😀 GREAT CHANNEL!
You guys always are fighting the elements. Your strength and perseverance are admirable.
Wow you both worked so hard great team work hope you had a hot drink when you finished well done ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It takes a special kind of people to live in those conditions
😀
I've enjoyed watching this. Only the sounds of the machines.
I see you're still rocking both snow blowers! This video was satisfying to watch because I wasn't doing the work 😂. Stay safe
Another great video...and a great way to relax too.
Stay warm and safe!
Thank you 🙂

I love watching that skid steer zip around in the snow.⛄️
Stay warm up there and Thanks for sharing
Thank you! And we will! ❄️ 🙂
It looks beautiful with the sun shining on the snow covered trees, you guys always have lots to do and snow clearing
Hey Chris, if you have some spray silicone, put it on the car door seals and stop them from freezing to the door.
Good news! Your channel showed up in my feed within two hours of you posting it! Progress!
Snow is beautiful but I'm glad I only have a driveway and sidewalk to shovel! That was a long day of snow removal. Having the right equipment is most of the battle.
That’s a lot of snow. ❤
It was quite a bit!
Great video
Now I see what you guys do for exercise in the winter.stay safe
This is strangely satisfying to watch. 😂 I’m really enjoying your channel!
That is a lot of snow to relocate and to find a place to put it all. Very impressed at the level of redundancy in your snow relocation capability, but I should not be surprised by this team. Great work and planning
Beautiful scenery!
Thank you!
Wow lots of work! Beautiful though. Really sorry it didn’t hold off til you got the roofing all on!

The thing I love about snow is the quietness it induces! We get little here, sadly.

It’s coming next week 😊
To a Southern girl, this snow is awesome. I’ve been to Alaska several times in the wintertime, and it is sooooo pretty on the trees.
That’s certainly a lot of snow!
Insane amount of work
I had just come in from shoveling a driveway full of sunshine in time to watch your video. The scenes of snow on the trees etc. are wonderful. A lot of work for you but keeping ahead is so necessary I guess.
Looking forward to your next video for sure,

That's a lot of snow and it isn't even Thanksgiving yet!!!😂 Looking forward to the next video❤❤❤ Stay safe!!!
It does a great job of tidying the garden.!
You two really bust your asses like a boss! The foresight and efficiency you both operate with blows me away and is an inspiration!

The moose will be very appreciative that you plowed. They will have a nice path to travel on. Take Care , Stay Warm , Stay Safe.. 👍😊

OK what do you do for fun? Snow lowing 24/7 certainly keeps you busy.
Wow, that was a lot of work.
Thank you for sharing!
Really nice to have the proper equipment to handle that snow.
Really miss hearing you talk but what's to say.
I don't remember that you had this much snow in November last year
I don't think we got our first big storm last year until after Thanksgiving. We had snow prior to that but only a few inches.
I miss living there!! So beautiful!
yall are freezing me stiff!!!! i could not handle the cold and snow the way yall do.....no way! i hope God sustains yall as yall dig out and make do...........g
You probably thought of it but would putting a tarp over machines or solar make it easier to clean? Can’t wait for the house build to continue too.
It could! In the future, we will make an adjustable mount for the panels to tilt them vertically so we won't need to clean them, which should help with solar gain as well. Зима пришла! Пушистый снег! Красота!
Классное видео получилось! Мне очень понравилось! Круто Круто!!!👍👍👍

Had a couple flurries the other day in Pa. that was enough for me for the year.
That's a lot of snow!

Lemme guess! You got another 12” that night! 😳😂 great job!

Oh wow! I flew to Bali on the 7th and just missed the big snowfall. I’m so removed from Alaskan weather but it’s interesting to see just the same.
I can't imagine how many tonnes of snow you moved.

Thinking an avalanche style blade for the skid steer might considerable reduce your snow removal time and fuel usage !

Looks like the top of ur RV gets a lot of winter sun. Maybe a good spot for solar panel?????
It's probably going to snow more. 😊
Halo Chris , that's a lot of snow, pitty U don't have a place to store it for water when it melts . Could help with irrigation
Seems like all we have been doing the last few weeks is moving snow!
Wow that was a lot of snow. Pretty but work.
🙂
Get a snowblower attachment for your bobcat the power you have in that is greater than mn your walk behind snowblowers. 16:47
Looks like you plow all day then tomorrow with more snow. You plow again.
It's usually about once a week, give or take.
Worth it just for the landscape shots.
What does the contact (bottom) edge of that snow squeegee(?) look like ? Is it rounded metal or rubber ?
Thanks.
Also if you could share more clips of first part where you are taking off snow with a silver rake.... I imagine you must have filmed all that... if you could share the unedited long version as well.
im ready in michigan!
❄️ Hopefully you don't get too buried up there this year!
It's pretty. But you can keep it up there for a while longer. Thanks.
Chris, do you plug in any of your diesel engines or have glow plugs available?
Hey codger, I only plug in when it gets well into the negative temps. We are on a limited power supply here, especially in winter when solar doesn't work because the sun is low and not up long. Our truck and generator have no issues starting because the gen has glow plugs and the truck has a grid heater. Unfortunately, the skid steer has no cold starting aid other than a push button ether start that I do not use. The block heater is sufficient to help it start in really frigid weather but would like to retrofit a grid heater to it in the future for faster starting.

Last year we hardly had any snow, it was a nice Winter
But they are saying lots of sms now this Winter!
Can you get a larger snow blower for the skidsteer.
I hope you had something warm and savory simmering in the crockpot after a day of snow clearing!!!
We had nice warm bowls of tortilla soup that evening! 🙂
That's a lot of snow. How often do you get that much?
We actually don't often get large storms like this maybe 2 to 3 times during the winter. The majority of our snow comes from small, more frequent storms that drop 4 to 6 inches of snow at a time. Over the last 2 winters, we've seen an average of about 7 feet of snow all winter, but in untouched areas, after some melts, it's usually an accumulation of around 5 feet.

Does it have a heater inside?
Yes, it does. With the windows closed it gets just warm enough to knock off the chill in winter weather here.
Greetings from Belgium. Apparently global warming has not yet reached Alaska 😆. I wish you the best for the future.
Why do you keep the gate locked? how far is the main road from the gate? You need a Ham radio from KB3YRC, Harrisburg PA
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You need undercover parking for all your vehicles and equipment
We would love to have somewhere covered. Once the cabin is finished, that is on the list of projects.
