      holding pads right for the other person is the hardest part of beginning Muay Thai for sure

  • @Griptonify

    It's crazy how different his pad work style is to his fight style. Great textbook technique on the pads, then when he fights he's so unorthodox. Box of tricks. Warrior collective is a beast channel by the way!

      @warriorcollective  9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Griptonify I think Paul is a fantastic blend of traditional Muay Thai and eclectic creativity, he is unlike 99% of other fighters. I agree completely with your sound description of him! Thanks for the great comments regarding the channel! I do try hard ha ha!

      Stuart Tomlinson Dear Stu, I've only really got into your videos recently but I'm always impressed of the level of the content. For me, Paul is the most exciting and actually the best at explaining technique and fundamentals of your Muay Thai instructors. Plus his very unorthodox style really comes from all the Taekwondo style training he must have had from Master Sken. Please keep up the fantastic work

    I agree with you Functional. Ive been an instructor for 10 years and have never seen anything like this. Linking is the perfect term. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the first real combo with the stable 1-footed left hook proceeded by a round kick. And Amazing job by the pad holder. Generally, a fighter can not improve unless the trainer is top tier. Man sharpens on man

    • @warriorcollective
      @warriorcollective  9 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      +Christian Morales Paul operates on a very different level to most other fighters. I have seen him do things that really should not work but somehow he makes it so ha ha. Luke is a great pad holder and has to absorb a lot of punishment when working with fighters such as Paul on a regular basis

    This guy is amazing.. i see the fight where he had his nose broke and ive never seen a break like that, the fact he carried on and didnt even faze him says it all.. shame it got stopped because of it but jesus it was intense to watch, great guy

    • @warriorcollective

      That fight with Keith was a great one, the injury to Paul looked so bad, I think everyone in the audience was amazed to see him want to carry on. That is Paul through and through though, he is a legitimate bad ass and a hugely talented fighter. Hopefully we will see him again in the ring before too long!

    Right hand dragging a right kick with it, using the momentum of the pulled back leg to fuel right hand, coiling the hips for a left hook.. that's just poetry in motion. Very alike to what Andy Ristie and even Ernesto Hoost.

    Hi, just wanted to say I like all the vids & Paul's strikes look very powerful. I've noticed on one of the sparring vids that Paul uses a traditional thai stance where his hands are away from his head. Is this your gyms way of teaching or is this Paul's owns style? Do beginners adopt this style? I've not been training for too long and still a beginner but my gym prefer the Dutch style stance where the hands never leave the head. I know gyms teach different methods & I'm just interested if your gyms prefers the traditional thai guard where it's easier to throw elbows since the hands are away from the face. Cheers

    • @warriorcollective
      @warriorcollective  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      PeteGainz Hi, glad you are finding the vids useful! From experience, each instructor will teach their students different variations on the stance, guard etc but it is more common to find the traditional thai style to have the hands high and away from the head (to favour use of all weapons) whilst styles that put more emphasis on boxing keep the guard tighter to head. There is no right or wrong per se, it just depends on the art and fundamentally how you are fighting or sparring. I hope this helps!

      Rey Fernandez He has bag boxing gloves. These gloves looks usually smaller than sparring g. having a free thumb - for heavy bag workouts, pad work. For this kind of practice you can use sparring (training) gloves.
