INCREASE YOUR CLUBHEAD SPEED WITH THIS DRILL (Do It Anywhere)

  • Here's a great golf drill to increase your clubhead speed. The faster the club swings, the more distance you will achieve so make sure you're doing this drill anywhere you can. It's all about repetition. The more you do it, the faster your speed.
    So many people want to increase clubhead speed so what do they do? They hit harder with the arms. Unfortunately, this will never work because you're moving the club without your hips and body. If you truly want more power, you need to get it the way pros do. This is by turning the hips and letting the arms follow.
    This is a great golf drill you can be doing literally anywhere. You don't have to hit balls to increase your clubhead speed which makes it a great drill to do in the winter at home.
    So you watch this tip and start doing this golf drill immediately. It takes co ordination which is why you need to be repeating it. As you get better at it, you'll increase you clubhead speed and start to hit longer drives and irons too.

    This drill never gets old! The first time I got this sequenced properly, the ball hooked like a hot rocket across the range. That's when I knew I had my break-through. From there it all comes down to finding a good balance of rotation with upper body lag.

      Yes, this is a good one. Gets the hips moving but people need to do it to get used to it. Getting them to do it is the hard part.

    Thank you so much! I've been watching your swing tips for the past 6 months. Today I was able to have a feeling of a relaxed easy swing and still hit the ball just as far or longer. I also hit more fairways and greens. Ended with a 9 over par, previously I shot 13 or more over par. Keep the tips coming, really helpful. Thanks!

    I'm working on nothing else but getting the hips moving faster (and sooner). But I'm pleasantly surprised that, when I do it "right", yes I get more distance...BUT I also get straighter shots. The arms and hands must be as loose as cooked spaghetti and you really have to "let them go where they want to" as you twist your hips. So the super accuracy is like a surprise bonus when this drill is done correctly. You're awesome, young man (I can say that--I'm 82).

    Hey Paul I just wanted to say that your tips have changed my driver swing. I kept my iron swing the same since that has been working for me for a long time but I now do your body swing for my driver and woods. After about 1 month or so of practicing and using your tips, I'm finally able to rotate properly into the back swing and relax my wrists at the top. Pulling down was a hard habit to break. I hit a few drives close to 270-280 today on the course. For reference I am 5'5" 130 lbs and never thought I'd be able to hit it that far AND straight without swinging out of my shoes. Your technique is for real and I'd like to thank you for changing my game.

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow! That's great. Those are long drives so you are definitely getting there. The game gets so much easier once you get a little longer. Keep up the good work. No your limits though. I would want you do stick with that for a while instead of trying to get it to 300. Get confident with those yardages first. If every drive goes that far then try for a little more but I certainly don't want you to lose it because you are trying for more and more.

    Your hip and leg driving the ball method is effective. I have just tried it today at the range. If I continue to develop my hip rotation speed, I am sure my ball could be straight and much longer than before. Now I am trying to ingrain the muscle memory to train my body to rotate my lower torso on the downswing. Many thanks, Paul Wilson. 😁

    This is life changing !!!…..I had practically no hip rotation before seeing your instruction. I am 68 yrs old and I have found that by slightly lifting my left heel I have better rotation on the backswing. Then it’s easy to plant that heel back down (it’s great timing for me). Then my thought is to fire my right hip towards the target!! It feels so natural and easy!! Thank you for helping all of us with your videos. I wish I could give you a hug!! lol

    Watched this video yesterday. No time to take the advice to the practice range but did get to hit some into a net before I played today. I don’t know how much yardage I gained but I did hit shorter irons into the greens for sure. Mostly I was slightly pulling shots a little so I adjusted for that but about 3 times I hit vicious pull hooks using this new swing thought. Any tips to overcome this?

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are pulling your shots you are pulling the club down with your arms. This is tilting your whole body forward in the downswing. Watch: th-cam.com/video/sbE-hzTXgNo/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/KlffJzbskmM/w-d-xo.html and try this too: th-cam.com/video/m8FxSZSmKEw/w-d-xo.html fixed.

    I am working on three things, not necessarily in order of importance: First, on my head staying behind the ball. Second (of course) keeping tension out of the arms, because otherwise even if I spin my hips very fast the tension keeps my arms back, when I'm finished spinning I then just hit with the arms. I guess it's a "false" body turn. Third, try to avoid turning my hips part way (until I face the ball) then finish by swinging the arms. Kind of hard to work on all three things at once, so I find I might hit one (or two) decent shots but I follow that with a streak of lousy hits. Very disappointing but I keep telling myself, as I've heard, that progress is not linear. The best I can hope for is two steps forward, one step back. Oh, and, BTW, thanks for the videos, Paul. You must be awfully tired with all the ones you've put up.

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      1. good - tricky but vital
      2. good - even more vital
      3. good - yes have to get all the way through it. I just did that tip the other day.
      I would do #2 and #3 first. You should be able to get #3 in 1 practice session. Also, do practice swings at home. The more you turn off your arms the more you would be using your body so you may get the tilt without having to work on it much. Don't sweat the changes. Tee up your ball when practicing to give you room for error. Swing at 50% so you can actually do it then speed up later. Too many people always want to swing at top speed.
      It takes a ton of work to post the tips. I have been wanting to do it for years. Covid allowed me the time to actually do it. Time to make people play great golf. Just a matter of time.

    It’s been a long journey with ups and downs each week. I suppose everyone has their little quirks that they come across while in search of. While messing around in the yard I ran across something that unleashed a whole new level concerning the body swing. I found that if I concentrate or swing key if you will, on the right shoulder delivering the hit I was able to do even more with my legs. Just wanted to give some feedback Paul and thanks as usual for your contribution to the great game.

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Takes time to make changes. Everyone wants it instantly. Doesn't work that way. It's like a puzzle. Each move is a piece. The more pieces you get the clearer you see the picture. Seems you were manually tilting to get the path which is great. Do this then as you get better keep firing the lower body. th-cam.com/video/sbE-hzTXgNo/w-d-xo.html

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Left to right. Wrong path wrong spin. You were tilted left in the downswing (starting down with arms) and tightening your wrists through impact locking the hinge. You may have thought you were hinging and rehinging but you were too late and the face was open. So rehinge sooner. Get it hooking. Once you can do that start adding body rotation to straighten out the pull hook. It is literally that simple.

      You are either sliding too much laterally, tightening through impact or just misguiding the club through impact and through swing. Just manually start fixing it in practice swings. @@paulwilsongolf i am sort of half-joking and half-serious. It happened last week during a range session, and i didn't think i overdid it but i guess i did. Been playing 40 years, my swing speed of late has been in the 100 mph range (it's been that for the past few years) and it's the first time this sort of injury has ever happened to me (i've injured my shoulders before, but never a groin / adductor muscle before). But i have been trying to make a conscious effort to get a rotation of my hips more into the swing over the past year (i think my lower body rotation was non-existent up to a couple of years ago). Slowing everything down a few notches isn't a problem (after i take a 2-week hiatus to heal), i guess i just don't really know when i should start trying to speed up going forward. Watching your videos and buying your lesson plan has certainly made me a much more consistent golfer, so thanks for that very much.
