@@christopheryou5040 Well, I did some research and found that the MK23 and USP might be too heavy for me when I turn 21, so I'll have to choose a different H&K handgun. I think that the P30L with a Grayguns trigger (and maybe the Wicked Compensator) would be good pick, what do you think?

I was an armorer at Naval Special Warfare Center (BUD/S) from 1998-2002, and did maintenance on the MK23's and the MP5's amongst the other weapons they used for training. The Seals there didn't care too much for the MK23's, but the SWCC (Boat Unit) guys did, seeing they were using match grade 1911's prior. I did enjoy shooting the MK23's suppressed. Crane (where we got our weapons issued from), sent the MK23' in these flat cardboard boxes, about the size of a small See's candy box, with the suppressor and o-rings. Believe it or not, the SWCC guys checked them out for training more than the Seal Instructors. However, most of the the Seals there loved the Sig P226's. I was there when Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane put the gold anchors on the slides, then Sig decided to sell them that way along with adding a picatinny rail. Great videos!

It is very interesting how the SWCC preferred the MK23 more than SEALs and it’s great to get such inside scoop from someone like yourself in the NSW community, so thanks for sharing this! I know the Sig P226 was favored by SEALs, which is more compact with a much shorter barrel than the MK23. I personally prefer the longer barrel on the MK23, which is quite accurate compared to several of my customized 1911s with match grade barrels. To be perfectly honest, I got my MK23 in 1998 mainly for the novelty of having a special ops pistol that is part of the US SOCOM OHWS, but was pleasantly surprised by its accuracy out of the box and low recoil, after shooting 200 rounds from it the first time! It has since become my only non-1911 .45 pistol.👍🏻

.... I agree that the P2000 is overlooked for some reason... I have one with the lite lem trigger and it’s one of my favorite “do all” pistols... it’s great for carry , and is a total tack driver.. Fits great in the hands, and mine has been 100% reliable so far after many thousands of rounds...It may not be as sexy looking as the other HK’s, but it is just as good as every other HK pistol made...I definitely wouldn’t feel uncomfortable in any way if it was the only HK pistol I had... It has passed every bit of testing that all HK pistols go through, and will survive any environment and hard use that they all do... The P2000 should definitely get more love... Anyone I’ve let shoot it has loved it, and eventually grabbed one and loves it.... I’m actually shocked it doesn’t sell as good as the P30 or USP....

@@Peenurpool for some reason I have always shot USP compact much better than the full size models. I have tried it in 9mm, 40 sw and 45 acp with the same results. I have a USP 45 from '95, first year of production in that caliber. The date code "KF" is my initials. Of all the guns I've collected, this has been the most reliable. A couple years ago, I switched to an HK45c for carry (with about a year's layover with a VP9 in between). Should try out the P2000, it's like a refined USPC. I have both a P2000 and a P30L and comparing them side-by-side it "feels" like the P2000 is a little bit smoother and maybe slightly better made, it's trigger is definitely better. The P2000 also carries better because of its grip texture on the sides is less abrasive on your body than the texture on the P30 and VP9.

I bought my 1st 1911 new in 1983 and they are still my favorite pistol and are still the pistol I shoot the best. Then, in 2000, I bought a new HK USPc and my world of carry guns changed forever. It was almost the equal of 1911s in shootabilty, a perfect fit for me, and, in my mind, the epitome of the combat pistol. I have owned and still own and carry other good guns, but, I will never be without 1911s and HKs.

Hk P7 Iconic with good reason. Striker fired and fires single action every time with a built in grip safety. Low bore axis and minimal feed ramp lead to its superb reliability. The design is second to none. Was adopted in the early 90s by the NJ state police and was reliable as heck. Unfortunately HK said it was way to expensive to mass produce and be adopted when glock took the USA by storm. But in my humble opinion one of 3-4 iconic modern pistols of our era along with the sig p210, browning High power , 1911, P08 Luger .

The P30L isn't just the sidearm of John Wick, it's also amusingly enough the sidearm of Hawkeye in the MCU films where he carries a pistol. He only really uses it a few times, mostly in The Avengers (2012) whilst mind-controlled by Loki.

Growing up in the south and being on AD I'd shot quite a few different pistols. Nothing really blew me away till I got my first HK, a VP9SK. The difference between it and my old carry (XDS) was night and day. I tell people its like driving a old beater Cavalier then stepping into a modern Cadillac.

I love HK‘s. I started with an HK USP compact in .45 and soon after got the HK45c, VP9 bronze, VP9sk, P30L, P30, P30sk. All in light LEM (except the striker VP series of course). The LEM trigger takes a bit of getting used to, but after the Gray guns short reset it’s actually quite easy to get down. The paddle mag release is amazing. You don’t need to break grip and can hit it with the middle finger.

The USP Compact 9x19mm is underrated, for its time it was pretty compact, gave you 13 + 1 when full size mostly was 15 + 1 and still had top notch reliability.

I have owned an H&P USP .45 Tactical approximately 30 years. IMHO, it combines many of the most important attributes of both the USP Expert and the Mk23. It features a 5.1 inch cold hammer forged target quality barrel, an “actually effective” recoil redaction system, target sights, a treaded barrel, 12+1 capacity, durability that allows it to fire an unlimited number of .45 Super rounds, and the matchless reliability of the entire USP series. With countless thousands of every sort of .45 load fired, it has never failed . . . not once.
Chris always touts his 9x19mm USP Expert, and there is no question that it is an outstanding firearm; however, the .45 USP Tactical pragmatically can do everything that the Expert can . . . and it is chambered in .45 , which I believe remains the ultimate, generally available, SHTF round.

I couldn’t agree LESS. I’m 61 former LE and very active shooter from the 70’s on. Sig 226 finest 9mm ever made period. That said I no longer own one. I shoot P30L, my EDC is P2000sk LEM. The 2000sk lem is a gun that goes bang every time and shoots very well. I owned a VP9 for a year, it’s trigger is to short too soft and is the only pistol I have ever had an accidental discharge with in 5+ decades. Having loved the P99 and PPQ for over a decade I could really feel the difference. The ergonomic’s of the VP9 were spot on. That’s why I love my P30L decocker no safety. Great Great gun. My .25 cents due to inflation !
    Ps
My Holly grail pistol is the USP 40 cal with safety decocker. One day ! It’s my 3rd choice simply because it’s 40 cal but equal to P30L in sweetness !

I have a P2000 and the USP Compact. Both are awesome. Stock, the USP trigger is nicer. I dislike LEM. I want the long DA first pull and lighter SA after that. The P2000 is 100% ambidextrous with an adjustable grip size. The USP has the aggressive checkering front and back. They use the same magazine.

USP 40 works great for me. I prefer it cocked and locked since I used to rock a 1911 and I'm just used to that. Still getting used to DA trigger. Put at least 1000 rounds through it, only problem was how the mag took certain ammo. The overall ergonomics are phenomenal. For me at least. Sights are just okay but not like a glock where you simply have to replace them. I sort of impulse bought it, but my instincts were spot on there.
