STAY AWAY from 1911 style designed pistols. Many are accurate, but are not reliable enough for self-defense because of the tight tolerances it is sensitive to dirt, sand, etc.
**** NOTE: The problem with ALL pistols that have external hammers is a small rock or sand and buildup of lint clothing fibers that can get in between the hammer & firing pin. Sad reality.
With the GLOCK factory original high capacity magazines you need to replace the magazine springs with the WOLFF magazine springs. ⚠️There is a very important reason for this.

P07 / P07 / PCR etc are super similar - saw a vid where he did some comparisons and he just likes the grip on the p07. He also said the polymer on the -07 seemed to have a slighly softer recoil for him probably due to flex. I love my sp01 and have a pcr en route for an updated ccw.

From personal experience I would always grab a CZ. I've put many thousands of rounds through my P-10F, CZ-75 P01, and P-07. And never had a single malfunction. All stone cold reliable, incredibly accurate and easy to shoot. My 457 is my favorite rimfire rifle I own as well, definitely planning on getting a Scorpion soon after my experience with one at the range. I religiously clean all my firearms though so keep that in mind. You can call me a fanboy but I love CZ for a reason, I've Carried/owned Mossberg, S&W, Springfield, Glock, Taurus, SIG, Walther, Ruger, Canik you name it. CZ seems to be the underdog with all these other massive names but they make incredible firearms, not without flaws but incredible firearms at a very fair price.

Any gun guy needs at least 1 Revolver in his collection. Mine happens to be the first hand gun I ever bought in 1989. It happens to be his #10. Ruger GP141 in .357Mag. Back then they were only 6 shooters not 7 and mine is blued. I wish I has spent the $30 more back then and got the stainless. As much as I love revolvers, it's the only I have. Ammo is harder to find, expensive and in todays world, and revolvers are high dollar in the $700 range. Lastly with only 6 rounds, you'd be outgunned in a firefight since everyone else will have 13-20 rounds on board and a couple more full mags in their back pocket. So I do have several reliable striker fired Tupperware guns. even some cheaper Tupperware guns that are very reliable, but I still EDC my Glock 23 Gen 3 that I've carried since 2002. That's about to change though since getting older and vision is slipping I'm going to go with something that has a red dot mounted as well as an Olight tac light / laser combo in the lower pic rail and be prepared for day or night self defense.

GP 100, heard it was a really good gun built like a tank. I bought one new and had nothing but problems with it from the start... like the action totally locking up about ever other reload and almost not being able to free it up. I sent it to the factory for repair and when it was returned they said they replaced a few parts and did a tuneup on it, but it still had the exact same problems. It is gone now. I bought a S&W 686 plus to replace it and it is smooth as glass with zero issues ever. I got one in 6in and another one is 3in. They cost more but worth every penny. LOVE them.

Wasn't expecting the CZ at the #1 spot. I freaking love my CZ P09 it's a little big for me to conceal but with the extended baseplate 22? round capacity. The trigger. The everything you can't beat it. I was with a buddy picking up a gun he ordered online for an ffl transfer. Got the CZ in hand and I couldn't walk away without that gun. No other firearm has felt so perfect in hand. It's more accurate than I'll ever be. What a gun.

100% in agreement, the CZ P07 is an incredible firearm. I have the P09 as well. The P09 sits in a slide out safe next to my bed with a light attached because of the 19 +1 capacity. However, I prefer the P07 handling. It just feels so right when shooting.

    1. a quality ar15 (DD, Aero/BA, BCM, FN,etc)

Unlike the OpSol adapters, the DTs allow for mixed loads (minis, 2-3/4, 3in) all at the same time. Easy to install, won't fall out. Even the rubber bit in the 590S will fall out. Check them out. 1. The at hand, so make sure you have a gun available at all times.
    2. The gun you are familiar with and have trained with.
    3. A rifle over a handgun. The old saw is a handgun is a weapon used to get to your longgun. Yup, that's completely true. No guns are deathrays, but a rifle is closer to an instant kill than a handgun by a large measure.

It is a great one. I gifted an LC9s to my wife for Christmas one year, gave my dad an LC9s a few years before that, and obviously have an LC9s for myself. I just removed the mag disconnect and I dont mind the safety so much, I dont have to use it. I love it’s micro size and not having to worry about scratching it up, although it is in flawless condition. I think I got mine for $280 and my wife’s for $300. I put a few things on mine: Talon granular frame grip, magazine grips, and slide grip, Galloway Aegis short stroke trigger and reduced weight spring kit, TruGlo TFO tritium & fiber optic night sights, Techna Clip “belt clip”, a couple of Ruger extended 9 round magazines, Sig 365 9mm JHPs, and an Allen Ruger small case. Will shortly be adding a LaserMax red grip activated laser. It’s such a nice looking and great shooting micro-9 now. I’m starting on changes to my wife’s soon.

Kinda surprised you didn't add the Baretta M9, that was my service pistol for my career while serving as a Corpsman with the USMC and that sucker went with me everywhere and never failed me. Be it the desert or the jungle, dry, wet, sand, you name it that sucker worked. Well to each his own I guess.

The Beretta 92FS is my favorite handgun of all time! In my opinion it is the most reliable pistol ever made because of it's design! As you know it has a open top slide with a 180 degree ejection port! It almost can't jam! Also it has the softest recoil impulse of any 9mm pistol I have ever fired, again because of it's design! The 4.9 inch barrel stays straight after every shot which also makes it very accurate!

Unfortunately, Sailor, your experience isn't the most common one, when it comes to the M9. I spent a lot of time with the Army, as an AFSOC liaison (JTAC/TACP). I hated that damn pistol! lol and so did most of the units i served with.

I agree with you. I have a 92FS that is 28 years old and 1000s of rounds through it and it has never failed not once and shoots anything I put in it. It is deadly accurate. I have lots of pistols, but in a situation where I had to grab one and go my M9 would be the one.

Would have been nice to see the beretta m9 at least in honorable mentions. But based on trials, it’s no more reliable than a p226. But it’s incredibly iconic and of course has one of the most extensive military track records you can have for a handgun.

Some of your picks are spot-on. The Ruger GP-100, the Sig 226, the AR platform, the Glock, the Mossberg shotgun….all have a long history of reliable service. Some, though, are problematic. The HK MP5 you show is an SBR. Not easy for most people to get and if available, it takes a looooong time to get one. The Benelli M4 is cost prohibitive. A gun at a price point in excess of $2K isn’t going to be in many people’s closet waiting for trouble. Not a bad list, but not a “best” either. But…to each their own.
