Secondly, the K24A3 has VTEC on the exhaust, whereas the Z3 doesn't. The Z3 is DOHC, but it only has single-lobe cams, and there is no VTEC camlobes. From South Africa, I drive a Cu2 automatic. Great pull away. Great car, but very fragile front bumper for such a big car. Infact I'm having it readjusted this Wednesday.
@@KiwiCarLife. Have you bothered to check before you kinda like to ridicule me? If you did, you would soon see that it is held together by flimsy clams especially in the middle section and that consistently driving over speedbumps, we have plenty in SA, makes the bumber sagg especially around the lights part. I spoke to the guys at Honda, and they admitted, that it is a weak spot on the Cu2.
@@donovanhendricks2218 well I mean it’s a logical conclusion to come to? Generally if a bumper needs readjusting it’s because it’s either been removed and not put on properly, or smacked into something. I’ve worked at a car dealer for 5 years so believe me I know! But yes I did have to put some blocks under the bumper supports on my CL9 just to lift it up slightly. Hopefully they can get yours sorted 🤞
@@KiwiCarLife. I'm driving my third Cu2 now. It has a high resale value depending on gas price flactuations in my country. The middle section of the bumber at the bottom of the headlights have plastic mountings on each side. They literally split in half with the back part attached to the body. I reattach it using long drywall screws. The clips at the end of the bumper stays in place perfectly, except for the middle section. Just thought I should share.

Cl9 has vtec on both intake and exhaust side and 4 separate exhaust ports going into a 4-1 header, cu2 has vtec only on intake side and has a collector style header where all 4 ports go into one outlet, rather than remaining separate and getting collected in the header. In essence the cl9 engine is more desirable for tuning
First, sorry for my english 😄 iam from Croatia and my english its not so good. I see you video and its verry great ! I have the Accord Cl 9 AT and Cu2 AT For my has the CL a timeles Design and give you mutch more fun to drive. The Cu2 is havier and biger and you feel that. But the cu2 Engine its Stronger, the suspension give you mor stability when you drive 200km/h + on the german Autobahn. 👍👌💪🏻😎 The Conception in Cu its mutch mor bether for the CL. Conception Highway Zagreb to Zurich max 130km/h: Cl9 = 8.5L /100km CU2= 7.2 /100km So witch one is bether ? i dont know ! I Love my cars same ♥️ I think the Cu2 its betther for Highway and German Autobahn ! The CL its bether in the City and when you driving to Alps.
Yeah would agree with that... stock cl9 vs stock cu2 (both auto) I'd take the cu2. It's more stable, has more power, more comfort and features. But manual vs manual I'd have a cl9. More sporty and lightweight chassis with more engine potential
Are you sure the problem is with the throttle of the CU2? Because the CU2 has a very unsmooth torque curve, peaks and dips all over the shop (due to crappy head/cam setup). The torque curve of the K24Z is nothing like the K24A....
@@KiwiCarLife yeah but your cI9 had headers also which gave you that slight advantage. Often wonder if your opinion would be the same in these review if you where driving both bone stock, what do you think?
Hmmm yeah would probably be different! One day maybe
Two great cars 🔥🔥

Cool and nice video. I have a red Accord.
Cheers man, nice!
From South Africa, I drive a Cu2 automatic. Great pull away. Great car, but very fragile front bumper for such a big car. Infact I'm having it readjusted this Wednesday.
Fragile bumper? I think you must have hit something haha
Could you imagine how good the cl9 would be if it had the same gear ratios as the cu2 from factory
Oh yeah mate it would make a massive difference
For the CL9, you ever think about a TSX gauge cluster swap? Or it wouldn’t work?
No idea sorry man - it would probably be in miles too so I wouldn't do it if you're in NZ or AUS
@@KiwiCarLife Canada has the TSX so you could get a Kilometer gauge cluster from there
@@hernanaguilarjr7954 That's true didn't think of that. Personally I'm happy with the stock CL9 gauges
Very nice Video bro 🤝
Thanks man
I notice you've changed the stock intake -resonator tube for a short ram. How's that going? worth changing it over stock -tube? Would you go CAI if doing it again or something else? Thanks
I just made the intake by cutting up the cheap simota one I bought for my CD5 to fit my CL9... One day I'll probably get a better setup, just wanted more noise for the meantime
What did you think of the steering ratio's? That is something that annoys me on the CU1. And i'm not sure if they're any different...
At a guess they'd be the same, it's a little slow as these cars are getting older but I think the cu2 steering for eps is really nice
itd be cool to see accord euro compared to acura tsx, even though they are literally the same car
Yeah thinking about doing a video talking about the differences
are the rims 18x8.5? and did u have to do any adjustments after getting the rims ie camber arms etc?
18x7.5 and just got a wheel alignment
How did you change the front grill? Can you make a video on that?
Bought a used type s grille, unclipped the old one, clipped the new one on
Kiwi, if you can choose between cu2 auto or manual, which one you prefer? How much manual cu2 feels faster than auto version?
Oh obviously if you can get a manual go for it. The manual is a lot more engaging and definitely faster
Where did you get your gear knob from?
It's just a stock Euro R gear knob - bought it direct from Honda
Classic video !

Fanging over Piecock. Choice bro
Haha you know it!
Review an Altezza anytime soon?
Got a mate with one, still trying to tee up a time
id also love to see this! Pls compare to 3sge manual
@@kiwibruzzy yeah thats what my friend has got - will get round to it at some point
I own an exquisite cw3 2008 executive 2.2diesel mapped ~200hp. It is tbh the best Honda i have owned, although it is Still plagued with the fault all My 7 Hondas have gotten.. front right lower ball joint is useless. Other than that im looking to install some airride kits, have you got any suggestions for a Good One?
Cool man, wouldn't know about anything to do with air ride sorry
@@KiwiCarLife alright, i Love your vids man. Keep on making My days more enjoyable ☺️
I had a manual 2.0l CU2 and it was very boat-y. Very good car otherwise but for a single person it is quite huge.
Yeah it is a big boy
You kidding me it’s a little car
Wasn’t the Cu4 available in your region? It’s the same body as the Cu2 but with a j35 instead of the k24z
I think that's the Acura TSX that has the J35Z6. Same shell as the CU1 and CU2 indeed, just different grille.
Nah CU4 was only available in the states as an Acura TSX - we got the us body Accord V6 too so there was no need for an accord euro v6 and an accord v6
@@KiwiCarLife got it thank you
What are the differences in automatic transmissions for both these cars? Are they still CVT's? I recall someone at the Honda dealership tell me that the CL9 transmission was not a CVT, and I have not been able to find much info online
Both 5 speed auto
Is the CU2 or CL9 more reliable? I was looking into them but I need one which has lesser issues. Do tell me please
@@dhrubonildas buy the one you prefer the drive of, they’ll both be equally reliable
@@KiwiCarLife I could find some at similar price point and sometimes the CL9 is a bit more expensive than the CU2, whereas CU2 is the one that came out later
Forgot to ask you... Did you see any gains in acceleration with switching from stock airbox/rez delete to a short ram with a pod filter?
Nah not really, although throttle response was definitely improved
@@KiwiCarLife good to know, because I ordered kn drop in filter and 3" velocity stack to put it on the stock airbox.
Great review want both now lol
Would recommend!
Where do you buy the Honda license plate frames? I went to Honda parts centre and they said they don't sell them but hondacare said they do lol
Dunno man, come see me if you're in welly, I'll get u some

@@joshuam6448 in that case, any one of the Auckland dealers should have plenty...
In the 🇺🇸 the tsx comes with a K24 A2
Nah, the TSX of this year also comes with the Z3 in the US. You're talking about the '06 TSX.
@@The_Noticer. as far as I'm aware pfl and fl tsx has a2 but the fl ones have a bigger cam and better intake manifold or something, hence why they make more power
@@KiwiCarLife en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_K_engine#K24Z
Only 2004-2008 TSX's come with the A2.
Doesn't the CU2 come with the smart key?
Some of the very last jdm ones do I think
Where u get the sports kit from for the 06 cl9
Mine came factory like that. It's not something you can "buy"
First One... Good Video!
Cheers man!
Drain pipe is present
HAHA
Wish you used a JDM CU2
Why is that? They're not much different and the jdm ones don't don't in manual (or at least I haven't seen any import manual cu2s here in NZ)
I'm still confused on the k24 engines. So what's the main difference between my 2012 tsx and a 2008?
Cl9 has vtec on both intake and exhaust side and 4 separate exhaust ports going into a 4-1 header, cu2 has vtec only on intake side and has a collector style header where all 4 ports go into one outlet, rather than remaining separate and getting collected in the header.
In essence the cl9 engine is more desirable for tuning
@@KiwiCarLife thank you. Without tuning in mind, which is technically more reliable? Or are they about the same. Great video btw
@@fishmonger3796 really no difference tbh
If I have a cu2 can I add the k24a3 engine to it?
I need Acura to just be Hondas in the US too damnit 😂
Mate, we want your Acuras! I'd love a UA6 TL Type S 6spd
@@KiwiCarLife didn't think of that! Thought it'd carry over too, makes sense though honestly
both of use the same engine?
No! Rewatch the video and he will show you they're not the same..
@@kloudpheonix3615 same block, different heads, intake, exhaust and tuning
First, sorry for my english 😄 iam from Croatia and my english its not so good.
I see you video and its verry great ! I have the Accord Cl 9 AT and Cu2 AT
For my has the CL a timeles Design and give you mutch more fun to drive.
The Cu2 is havier and biger and you feel that. But the cu2 Engine its Stronger, the suspension give you mor stability when you drive 200km/h + on the german Autobahn. 👍👌💪🏻😎
The Conception in Cu its mutch mor bether for the CL.
Conception Highway Zagreb to Zurich max 130km/h:
Cl9 = 8.5L /100km
CU2= 7.2 /100km
So witch one is bether ?
i dont know ! I Love my cars same ♥️
I think the Cu2 its betther for Highway and German Autobahn !
Hey would you be at all interested in reviewing my 2012 Volvo S60 T4?
Could be keenski
In my opinion, the Honda grille on the CU2 chassis looks weird. I think the USA Acura grille looks much better on that car
I think a lot of people would strongly disagree
@@KiwiCarLife True. Even in the states, not a lot of people like that Acura beak. But I personally do
Hi can i fix cl9 rear spoiler to my cu2
Probably, but I’d recommend you just get a cu2 spoiler
@@KiwiCarLife but hard to find one
Im confuse..how much horsepower CU2? Stock
198hp
Thank q bro
Krivo
148kw ili 201HP
Cl9😍😍😍
Lovely vehicle
If you modify a CU2 with the same mods as CL9 you get a much better and modern car.
Yes but it’ll never drive the same with eps and more weight
Are you sure the problem is with the throttle of the CU2? Because the CU2 has a very unsmooth torque curve, peaks and dips all over the shop (due to crappy head/cam setup). The torque curve of the K24Z is nothing like the K24A....
Surely the reflash would fix that?
@@chrisskelly6408 yeah who knows aye...
@@chrisskelly6408 Not really no, you get more torque across the range but spike and dip is still there, but at a different RPM
How would you notice the torque curve when rev matching? Also haven't seen a torque figure except the official one which is pretty flat..
Is it anything to do with intake manifold? As I still have a k24a3 engine I can put bits in
It would be fair if you had the cu2 modded like your cl9 bro.. just sayin
Tbh it doesn't really need to be fair. I know what a stock cl9 drives like and I outlined the criteria I'd buy each one under
Some how i think that the Asian and American Accord’s and Civic’s look better than the European/Australian.
Uhhh, you reckon? Each to their own
Not the bug eye ones i hope?! JDM look way nicer!
CL9 exterior looks like a honda.
If it didn't I'd be a bit concerned!
cl9 makes me think its the original bootleg 3rd gen tl
It kinda is tbh, very similar cars except the tl was based on the us market accord and the tsx was based on the euro market accord
That’s an unfair comparison as your Cl9 is modified where the CU2 is a stock engine.
Mmm the cu2 had a few mods, tune, intake etc
@@KiwiCarLife yeah but your cI9 had headers also which gave you that slight advantage. I own a 2011 accord euro cu2 luxury and although I like the earlier editions like the cI9 I prefer the cu2,the refinements are so much better. But if you had bone stock both cars the cu2 would have the slight advantage with power but it’s really negligible to be honest. The gear ratios in my cu2 are better than the earlier versions like you said. Each to their own I guess, both cars are awesome and I believe the best 4 door sports cars ever made. I have big plans for my K-24 z3,she is getting a built performance engine rebuild with supporting mods for 300 hp. That will be the limit though as you start having traction issues if you go over that 300 hp range unless you go all wheel drive which is more money than I can afford. Hey great channel anyway mate, love your videos. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
