Nigella’s cooking show was the first one that really cared about sound. The juices splattering in the fry pan, the sounds of the gas oven, the sounds of the city. She was doing ASMR before anyone.
At that time, the mix wasn't common. Most supermarkets only had the odd lettuce. It really was called designer mix because it was meant to be extra special. Now it ubiquitous
I can’t sleep and it’s the middle of the night. I had cubed pancetta, arugula, Asiago cheese, and Dijon and red wine vinegar. I made the salad. Wonderful!
2:25 Just imagine making this salad dressing because you were too busy to eat, and end up having to clean the whole kitchen because there's splashed grease all over your stove and countertop. Anyhow, watching these old videos of Nigella is funny and soothing.
Only NL gardens in a long skirt. LOVE! Also appreciate how her "deep freeze" sounds like a jet engine. I never get tired of these shows and love everything about this series EXCEPT NL's affection for coriander.
I make a dressing like that but also add a whole garlic clove, a little honey or brown sugar, salt, pepper, a dash of Worcestershire, pinch of cayenne and I use whole grain mustard if I have it. It's SO good.
gaming sessions or reading sessions do that for me sometimes. Eating, gaming, fiction- it's all dopamine. If its good your brain doesn't make distinction
Me either and I always tell them they should go to the Doctor there are many signs the body gives if they can say "oh what's this mild pain in my belly? nothing I guess" they are broken.
I actually had a boyfriend who only bothered to eat every 2-3 days. He would feel hunger pangs and be surprised by it, had to think it over, and then realize he hadn't eaten in the past 2 days. he told me that when he was little, and his parents called him inside for meal time, he would run away from them. Yeah, that relationship was doomed. I need to marry a baker.
Hi, Just wanted to say I've been watching your cooking programs, mainly on t.v. And now on the internet. I like your want to cook for family, friends and self without putting too much time on cooking, I'm the same. Your food is inspirational , I just use halal food where necessary. couple of times I made your quick chocolate cookies, that you had made for your friend who was upset. Thanks for the less time consuming recipies, From a fellow country man.
I need more people like this. More cooks like this. Especially for the younger viewers. Tiktok and instagram chefs are so self absorbed and all they do is want to show off that they make pretty food. Unlike Nigella who cooks to make people happy.
those shrimp patties look delish! Can't wait to try them! I grew up eating shrimp toast, it's basically the same thing, except we spread the shrimp mix on a piece of bread, then cover w/ sesame seeds and then fry it up on both sides. Truth be told I was never a fan of the sesame seed part so these shrimp patties are super ideal for me :)
I actually bought that crescent chopping knife because Nigella use it so it must be important!!! I don't know where is it now, never really used it that much lol
She’s referring to the orange roe (also called corals) that you get from shucking scallops. Most people toss it away, but apparently, it’s very edible.
Thanks! First time I’ve seen them which is kinda weird, but also haven’t seen too many scallops freshly shucked and maybe coincidentally the ones I’ve seen didn’t produce any.
Less work, but mostly, the garlic will be deliciously sweet when you squeeze the soften pulp out. And the inside of the onion won’t burn, but will be soft and sweet. I do this all the time. Try it, you won’t regret it.
That huge fully stocked pantry freaks me out. How can you use all of that before it goes bad? You'll have bugs in your flour and spices before you know it.
I'm sure Nigella wouldn't immerse salt water mussels in freshwater. And unless you're an otter, freshwater mussels don't taste very good. There is also word they are endangered.
@@martaa.4067 I know right? Trolls who impute negativity into comments are all over the place. As I was saying, she looks like a totally different person. What does she have against salt/seasoning? Shes roasting veggies and chicken and the only seasoning she put on it is some dried thyme..not even salt? Man that stereotype about British cuisine aint just a stereotype innit? Chileee... thank god shes charming.
Some dishes have ingredients that are already salty. If you don’t need to have salt, don’t just add it for the sake of seasoning it. Example: the pancetta and the cheese in the salad are salty. Salt went into the tahini sauce for the lamb dish. Also in the pasta water for the pasta. She salts the roast chicken and vegetables at the end to prevent water leakage. It’s about understanding what your ingredients will give you when combined with other ingredients, and how to combine them creatively.
@@ryanspencerlauderdale687 tq for ur explaination..bcause when i watched her, sometimes i wonder why some recipes doesn't include salt, esp roast chicken..
@@ryanspencerlauderdale687 I appreciate Nigella's unorthodox approach to seasoning, but the standard is "season-as-you-go". Her way forces you, or rather expects you to understand what and why you're cooking.
Just cant seem to remember anything about cooking when nigella talks i cant understand it i watched the hairy bikers and remembered everything mad She makes beans on toast look like the most erotic dish ive ever seen fact
These videos must be old ones eventhough they were uploaded 1 year ago because a few years ago I thought I saw a video where her kids are teenagers already.
You looked beautiful before and still do but sometging about your face looks different. You lost weight too but theres something different to you Nigella. Share the secrets with us women please.
Nigella’s cooking show was the first one that really cared about sound. The juices splattering in the fry pan, the sounds of the gas oven, the sounds of the city. She was doing ASMR before anyone.
Right? That’s one of the reasons it’s a comfort show for me. Relaxing AND entertaining.
True
11:32 so good 💦
@@aveuch The dripping water 💦 glorious.
Actually some of old videos of Julia Child and Jacques Pepin also had that ASMR quality to them.
Every single time I get a spring mix now, I think of Nigella calling it designer leaves lol what an icon
It's wilted lettuce here in the south
At that time, the mix wasn't common. Most supermarkets only had the odd lettuce. It really was called designer mix because it was meant to be extra special. Now it ubiquitous

Why not? If your food doesn’t taste good, you’re not going to be happy about it. Obviously, hers is how she likes it.
I love how messy she is in the kitchen! It's actually refreshing.
Just leaves flying everywhere.
I love that her freezer is crowded like mine - so reassuring compared to the cooks who seem to have a live in sous chef😂
Thank you Nigella for your many years of kitchen tips and leadership.
The pancetta salad she makes at the beginning is the best meal ever! I make it all the time after I learned about it from her
That pancetta salad is amazing. What a great idea to make the juices rendered from the pancetta into a salad dressing. Love this idea.
Too busy to eat and forgot to eat are words I have never uttered in my life! Love you!
That's it's almost 15 years old !!! I've seen so many times I don't get tired of looking her cooking I love her😚😊
I just want to be friends with her, hang out, eat and read books together.
Incidentally I saw her in real life a few times and she was so beautiful and that was before I liked her.

I love nigella … her warmth and love for food shows in her work .. her recepies are simple and fuss free to make and a joy to watch
The one pan chicken and potatoes so sooooooo simple yet effective literally changed my life

there is not a single moment of my life where I missed an opportunity to eat.
I don't trust people who "forget to eat". 😂😂😂
Work is just a temporary distraction from eating.

You know you are old when you're constantly thinking about cleaning after Nigella while she blitzes about cooking.
I love the background music ...always..a fav
I just love watching you cook

I'm a millenial -- and I respect her cooking style. The young cooks on TV and social media these days are attention seekers.

When life gives you lemons make lemonade!
@11:52 I love how she just shoves her head into the pan without regard for the scalding steam rising to meet her face 😅🤭
Why not? You get a free facial at the same time.
She is awesome. I love her cooking
She doesn't apologize for pigs eat! Love her
Basically just pork rinds.
She cooks in anger and angressiveness. Every gesture is careless. I like it.
I 100% agree with you lovely Nigella!! xoxo
I think Nigella is the only tv chef who isn't a pro chef that Anthony Bordaine respected.
Yum, yum, and I'm not talking about the salad.
Looks delicious!
You gotta love Nigella "south east Asian" cooking kit which is actually a mix of Chinese and Japanese ingredients...we've come a long way
Like the pasta and lamb chops. And the chicken.
We love you and your shows. It’s my poor opinion that if your too busy to eat, your doing it very wrong. Thank you.
With bacon everything tastes good!
I have to second that
If you’re new to nigella and expecting healthy food with greens move along lol.
What a perfect keto salad! And yes, keto works!!!! I will definitely be making/eating that salad.
She's sooo pretty
Still my favorite house/set. I want to live there
What does she take out at 15:45? Corals? Can’t find it online

Bela Nigella 🌷🌷🌷💐💐💐💖💖💖🍹🍹
My brother would call Nigella a domestic Godess. I agree with him
Delicious woman,love her
Thats my kind of salad
Are these old videos, she looks so much younger.
What abt the dust that gets in the food with the de skinned onions n garlic
DESIGNER LEAVES. Are there parts of the world that call it that or is Nigella just being extra lol
Relaxed and Rested It’s what we say in England. It means not just standard dull lettuce.
William Bleeker that’s amazing. I’m gonna start saying that in Murica and make it a thing 😂

😍😍🤤🤤
Oh, look at her BOOKS!
I love how many bookshelves she has all over her house! I wish I had that kind of space!
I'm not sure Nigella understands the concept of 'home alone'
I had never been to busy to eat ...ever
She's so beautiful 🤩
Where Nigela now please.. I and my husband love her..she very distinctive
why did she leave the skins on the onions and garlic? does anyone know? i’ve never tried that
No need to peel onions, garlic, ginger, etc. when used in a marinade. Enjoy!
Less work, but mostly, the garlic will be deliciously sweet when you squeeze the soften pulp out. And the inside of the onion won’t burn, but will be soft and sweet. I do this all the time. Try it, you won’t regret it.
Skins in a roast generally protect the garlic from burning, but also sweeten the garlic. Plus caramelized onions are heavenly.
Anyone else see the hair on that bacon? Lol. @42 seconds in the video
yesss that freaked me out!! eww!
Yes, ew
C'è un po' di insalata in quel grasso... :D
And 6 thousand calories later.....Yum!
A nice kind of MESSY
Keep all citrus in the fridge.
Why does the Pancetta still have pigs fur on it 🤢
I don't trust seaseame paste, cumin powder,I do make it at home. Thanks for the video.
I need salt like that 🧂
Having longish hair like Nigella, I'm amazed it doesn't seem to get in the food.

Did anyone else notice the hair on the panchetta?
i did ..yucks
Wow, she is really obsessed with lime
Very unrelated but I find all floor to ceiling over-filled bookshelves in almost every room just so anxiety inducing.
*moving plants around*
Crisps.
Her pantry……I the day was unusual- not so much 20 years on. Her lunchtime meal quite funny…….most mums doing the ironing etc
I tend to hold spinach for meals without red meat. But Nigella can do whatever she wants. 🙂

They gave her some dental work, I heard.

🙄 This is her very first TV show. She is just 20years younger, that is all
She does garden work with a dress ... WTF!!!
Why all the ads throughout this? It's ridiculous.
Why?
Because youtube is modeled on pre-cable tv.
But, unlike tv, they don't have spots in natural breaks, youtube even breaks in mid-word!
I thought when Nigella was "Too Busy To Eat", she just snorted some cocaine.
When the pig ear came out I left
You can't leave this empty I can assure you I don’t eat sausage, hot dogs or any other processed meats or anything that’s processed.
