On Rigel, since this was the time I was really getting into the competitive side of Yugioh, Rigel was played because you could normal summon it and get it to 2400 ATK, which was really important for getting over Winda specifically.
One of the best things about royal firestorm guard is that he loops infinite you target 1 firestorm and 3 scattershot each time and you never run out of cards

Sohrab Pasikhani Sleeves. For those of you who don't know who Sohrab is, he is the player who went UNDEFEATED in Swiss (1st Place), also lost in Top 32 with Volcanics of all decks (because of the new support. Especially the Blaze Accelerator Reload.) Either way, those sleeves are WILD af!
I love how the intro reminds us that what history became was not what it was intended to be. But rather the result of an angle they thought was more interesting than "what if prog but we have all the cards"
was there really a way to start out as anything but prog with all the cards, though? I can't imagine the event coverage for the earliest tcg events ever being particularly systematic when it comes to decklists

number fifteen. secrets of eternity. the last thing you'd want in your BA shaddoll meta is a random piece of support to push tellarnights to meta contention, but as it turns out, that might be what you get.
Good episode. Joe could've mst'd the called Altair during that last attack in game 3 and it would've saved him 1700 damage, kept him from using his wing blast, and maybe bought him another turn to get in the game but it was definitely a rougher with Cimo having early momentum and going aggro. Congrats Cimo on his first win this week.

Cimoo you missed the biggest point of Rigel. He wasn't used for damage pushes, though that was a nice bonus. The whole point of running him was a searchable one card out to Winda which 'Tellar lost to really hard.
I wish Volcanics would get more support. Reload was honestly one of my favorite decks ever, second only to chain beat. I remember struggling to play this deck against Qli
The patience needed for Volcanics isn't so much about being patient in a gameplay sense, it's about having the psychological endurance to live with drawing the garnets

When Paleozoic was around i like to use the kne that sends a trap card so you can destroy the opponent as fast as possible. Its pretty cool and with cards like Jar of Avarice that can trigger the paleos and recycle not only monster but spells and traps. Cool episode
I remember I bought this entire deck after seeing this tournament and paid like $70 for lavalval chain (which was like a paycheck in high school working at Kroger making $6.85 /hr) then immediately having lavalval chain get reprinted then banned. Sad stuff but very fun deck
What was the last relevant Pyro card to come out? Nemeses Red Flag? I think the even gave it that 200 def gimmick to use as a rekindling target even though it was meant more for banishing to Eschatos and stuff.

@ 23:35 was there a reason MBT didn't draw? Was there some wierd Volcanic effect I missed that stopped the firestorm guards from doing so? Also because of the "then" conjunction, if he couldn't draw that also means he couldn't shuffle right? Because if you can't B you can't A either right?
I'm pretty sure one of the combos of the deck was to put a monster on top with Laval and draw it with reload rather than drawing a random then Lavalval
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but in the third game, couldn't Joeseph had saved himself a lot of trouble by usign MST on the CotH at 32:52 to kill teh Altair and prevent the XyZ?
Just checking, but at 31:40, if you MST the set card instead of the vanity, the summon is still negated since the destruction of vanity would be in a new chain after the resolution of the current (which negates the summon), right?
Even worse than that. Continuous cards don’t start applying until they resolve, so if Cimo tried that, his summon would be negated, and Vanity’s would still be there. To get the 2 for 1, he has to wait for it to resolve first, but then he loses his Call of the Haunted effect.
I am curious to see Satellarknights in the next year when they finally get access to Ptolemaeus and then Cyber Dragon Infinity soon after. Don't really have much experience with this deck so I'm not sure if even that would allow this deck to work, but regardless, I'd like to see it on one of these shows
I am surprised that mbt deck didn't have volcanic doomfire or regular blaze accelerator. Doomfire is just a big asswhole that I found some decks have a hard time dealing with and it sends reload to the grave which is nice. Also have won games off if using heartland Draco and regular accelerator alone.

Also I'm surprised Tellar isn't playing Rhapsody in Berserk, I thought most were on it. Excited for Nekroz format though, that was the first Archetype deck I played that was legal with my friends, up until then we were still on like chaos blue eyes with 3 pot of greed 3 reborn. Nekroz was the first deck I genuinely wanted to play legal because it was that fun. Bring back my boy Djinn Releaser.
Man, if Volcanics had a good Aggro button they might be decent. It's nice at breaking boards and refilling all those cards it's forced to chuck for things, but even back then that doesn't seem like enough for beating spammy boards. Decks like this are REALLY good at bullying certain kinds of decks though.
Volcanics lose to stuff like Winda and Kristya, plus if you banish a single Scattershot from your opponent's GY then the deck is completely screwed since they can't reuse the Raigeki-esque effect anymore that game. (Edit: grammar)
So MBT drew into double scattershot all three games and didn't see light imprisoning mirror once despite siding 3 copies. I guess the spirit of the pharaoh just would not let Alex lose every series in a week.

Volcanics were crazy all through Nekroz format. Imo it's one of the best decks tbh. Only bad match up is shaddoll because it has trouble beating Winda. Otherwise you outgrind BA, destroy Nekroz and burn qlis to death.
All i see is light monster fodder for el shaddoll construct, i wonder if satellar shaddoll was a thing. I wasnt playing modern paper formats around this time.

MBT special summoning under Pot and drawing an additional card isn’t cheating, because it‘s not intentional. It just means he‘s not good at yugioh.
