      @@josipgrzilo8128 what about the Gr3 Corvette… should I short shift at like 75% like I’ve seen most people do with the Supra Gr3. I know GT3 and GT4 cars behave differently for the most part. I’m new so these tips definitely help. Just got the game over a month ago and I’ve just started manual shifting on my controller and I’m getting better and starting to pay attention to little thing that I’ve ignored in the past while playing Gran Turismo. I always short shift the GT3 Supra mainly because I see other people doing it but I don’t know how they’ve determined it benefits from short shifting? Thank you in advance for any advice on this topic… I most certainly appreciate it!

      @josipgrzilo8128 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@greg6162 Yes, you should shortshift it. I would say even before 75%, around 65-70 is perfect. In those races where you have to save fuel you can easily shift it on 50% or less since performance loss is very small bit fuel consumption is much lower.

      I'm surrounded by miles IRL (uk) but i use km/h in game cos finer division (smaller) of units. In kph, the numbers change about 38% faster than mph. Since the numbers are already arbitary, why not just use the finer measurement? Just my opinion
      60 or 100
      120 or 200
      180 or 300
      As a person that's always looking at the speedo, the finer cycling of numbers works better for me. Also 300kph sounds faster than 180mph, no? We are in a game after all.

    • @greg6162
      @greg6162 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like the MPH. Especially watching the different GT Sport TH-cam channels when I come across a tutorial in KPH I usually find another video because it’s hard to correlate breaking points with speed.

    • @tidgney
      @tidgney  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a good suggestion thankyou. I race in mph which is the reason I do it, when I did the gr.3 it did come across my mind however there are lots of things that we'd need to do with more precision which is more averages and such and the test then extends from a few hours to alot of hours :O!

    @greg6162 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think he’s onto something here with the shifting ratio of certain cars (like GT3 Supra) and the benefits that are gained. I think that would be a great video idea to explore 🤔

  • @theworldcyclist

    I would be interested to see some slightly different tests. Although it is interesting to see which car accelerates quicker, the start only happens once. It is much more usual to accelerate from 40/60mph up to 100/150mph. I think the true test of a car being "quick" would be highlighted by doing tests in these kinds of brackets. Also, it might be interesting to switch to kmh for these tests to give you a little more granularity on the results around top speeds achieved. On the flip side, perhaps it would also be interesting to see braking performance?

    • @tidgney
      @tidgney  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can add that information fairly easy between 2 speeds and that has been on my mind to be honest :). But I also didn't because you can see the difference between 0-100, start/finish line then end result like the lamborghini catching the veyron.
      A few people have mentioned km/h but the critical thing is that as you go more granule there's a risk that I'd have to run each test 2 or 3 times. When I initially started with gr.3 I did that just to make sure the results were the same and they were km/h could open up slight variances, it's the same reason I'm not running hard tyres at the moment as I'm pretty sure I'll have to run that 3+ times per car. It's all to give an indicator more than anything as to which are the fastest :D!

    Interesting video. Megane Trophy came as a bit of a surprise for sure. Are you planning on making a "best handling" series next?
    In terms of figuring out where/when to shift cars, that's actually not too hard to do:
    Look at the Horsepower/Torque curves (you find them just below the "upgrade" menu, hovering over either the HP or the weight number). Best shift points are usually just a bit past the point where both curves intersect. You're welcome :).

    • @Leotheleprachaun
      @Leotheleprachaun 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's legit what he mentioned in the video for the ingame curves. A bunch of the cars don't actually line up tho, which is why the community has made a spreadsheet of all the cars used in manufacturers series, as mentioned in this.

      @greg6162 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    It would be really interesting to see an average sector time(s) through a real handling sector. The Megane Trophy is really popular because of handling, fuel and tire wear which sometimes trumps speed. Would also be handy if there was a way to measure fuel and tyres usage and display it like the speed tests 🤔

  • @antonpaco

    I’ve noticed when I run racing SS they seems to be slower and not as grippy as racing S tires when I go into Public lobbies and the only two choices are SS and S I pick S and seems to do a lot better than the ppl on the SS’s it’s almost like there so grippy you lose speed or something which can happen with a tire that’s too sticky the rolling resistance is greater on the softer compound tires which would slow the car down

    • @Leotheleprachaun
      @Leotheleprachaun 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've always found RSS tyres to be TOO grippy. Like, you want a BIT of slide from your tyres or they're just going to push you off track. Only times i use RSS anymore is on my Hawk X and i don't even actually drive that(AFK daily at SSrX). I used to think they were top shit but i started going on sport mode which made you only use hards(last year) so when i went back on public lobbies i was way not used to the car just not doing what it should. Also, RS tyres are easier to drive in the wet than both the intermediate and heavy wets for some reason.

      My guess would be they are the dominant cars in the 100-200km/h range or from 100km/h to top speed. Buggati/Huracan have a much better top end but they might reach it 3-5 seconds slower than what the Scirroco and RCZ reach their top speed. I'm surprised Tidgney didn't cover this in the video.

    And still this doesn’t make any difference, Group 4 still not balanced.
    The only solution I see is having 2 different BoP balances.
    1, the one we have for races with Tyre wear because it actually works.
    2, a diferente one for races without Fuel/Tyre usage.
