One of Saki's short sweet story.
There's an excellent Short Film adaptation in 2000s, starring Micheal Sheen and the lovely Cherie Lunghi. As we can see in here the photo stills.

Yes indeed, very short and sweet😁. It's a story I've always loved. The niece is such a great character...a tad mischievous perhaps. That's right, the artwork has come from that adaptation. Cherie Lunghi is a great actress and Michael Sheen is so versatile.

@@scarystoriesbythefireside- Micheal Sheen plays the credulous and very excitable Mr. Nuttel perfectly.

He does indeed. He has great range as an actor. He's brilliant as Kenneth Williams, Tony Blair and Brian Clough...and many other parts 😊.

I thought it might be a bit cheeky of me to use some of the screencaps as a basis for the imagery on this one😉. I always loved this little gem of a story…and its subtle little payoff at the end.
🤣Oh yes, Mr Sheen has an excellent range as an actor; I like him as Brian Clough and Kenneth Williams, too.🥂

Must look out for the Clough & Williams. I can see that he would make a perfect Kenneth Williams! He would be delighted to see what you have done with him on this film. Great PR for a start.

Only just seen this comment! So kind of you to say so! 🤗 He might think I've taken a few liberties 😂 I believe the Kenneth Williams film was called Fantabulosa and it was made in 2006...ish. The Brian Clough one was "The Damned United."

@@scarystoriesbythefireside indeed, this one was quite the nervy and extremely self-possessed trickster. Too bad she didn't have anyone with whom to share the wink, but at this point I think she's quite smug being the lone gunwoman, as it were!

Yes she's certainly a confident young lady with a wicked sense of humour. I get the impression that if her character were to appear in further adventures she would be happy to remain undetected, under the radar, and continue to enjoy her particular brand of entertainment!
